Like a large and powerful phablet. And this year Lenovo K4 Note smartphone takes over this baton from his predecessor.
Design
On the front side of the phone there is a front-facing 5-megapixel camera with a built-in OmniVision OV5693 sensor and f/2.2 aperture. She takes great selfie shots and also conveys good quality picture for video calls.
In addition, at the top and bottom of the screen there are two powerful audio speakers, which are hidden behind an aesthetic grille. Under the top grille, next to the front camera, there are proximity and light sensors. And in the right corner above the display there is an LED indicator that glows red during charging and blue when notifications appear.
Below the screen itself are located touch buttons. They are not backlit, but are equipped with tactile feedback when you click on them.
The thickness of the smartphone is 9.15 mm and this space is designed with a brushed metallic finish. The volume and power buttons, which are located on the right side of the case, also have a metal finish. The 3.5 mm audio jack is located on the top of the phone, while the slot micro USB is located below.
On the back of the phone there is a 13-megapixel camera with dual LED tone flash. In addition, there is also a second microphone of the device. There are 3 microphones, but the third microphone is hidden from the user’s eyes. Below the camera there is a fingerprint sensor.
The dimensions of the smartphone are 153.7 x 76.5 x 9.15 mm, which creates some difficulties when working with one hand. And the weight of the device was 158 grams, which is quite justified due to the capacious battery.
The back cover is plastic and easily soiled. For additional protection, it is recommended to wear the beautiful case that comes with the kit.
Lenovo K4 Note Specifications
Under the back cover there is a removable battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh. Also, two slots are visible under the cover. SIM cards, one of which is combined with a slot for microSD expansion cards internal memory. The phone can work in 4G LTE networks.
As for the software, the Android operating system version 5.1.1 Lollipop is installed from the factory.
Performance
On board Lenovo K4 Note costs 8-core Cortex-A53 processor, with clock frequency at 1.3 GHz. Mediatek MT6753 chipset.
The graphics are handled by a 3-core Mali-T720MP3 graphics chip.
Basic model The A7010 has a RAM capacity of 2 GB, and the improved configuration - the A7010a48 is equipped with three gigabytes of RAM. As for the built-in flash memory, its volume can vary depending on the model from 8 to 32 GB.
Screen
The diagonal of the capacitive touch display was 5.5 inches and the resolution was 1080x1920 pixels. The pixel density is exactly 400 ppi. Overall the screen is very bright and has rich colors, not afraid of straight lines sun rays and boasts wide viewing angles. Despite the fact that the coating is glossy, fingerprints are practically invisible. The screen is protected from scratches by durable Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The screen has a 71% ratio to the front side of the phone, but don’t forget about the two stereo speakers, also located on the front side of the smartphone.
Results
The gadget is equipped with good stereo speakers, a durable metal body and a fingerprint scanner. Looking at all its characteristics, the model can be classified as mid-premium, with the exception of its price – around $200.
Lenovo is slowly but surely gaining influence in the Android smartphone market. The company has a regularly updated range of the most different models, among which today we can highlight the Lenovo K4 Note.
But first, let's move away from the topic a little: as you know, mobile gadgets are less likely to encounter problems with contamination and excessive heating. But with laptops, things are different - regular cleaning of the laptop is necessary element maintaining its performance, quality and durability. If you need top-notch and affordable laptop cleaning, our technicians will do the best job for you.
The predecessor of the smartphone under review (Lenovo K4) achieved fairly high sales figures, and the Note version took several more steps forward in technological terms. What makes this device stand out from others? Let's figure out our Lenovo review K4 Note.
Appearance
The gadget features a metal frame with a polycarbonate plastic backing, which allows you to hold the phone firmly and firmly in your hand. Dual front-facing speakers and a fingerprint scanner located just below the selfie camera make the K4 look like Lenovo Vibe X3. Not surprisingly, in some countries the model is called Vibe X3 Lite.
The plastic back cover is removable, revealing access to the microSD and SIM card slots. The lid itself may seem a little flimsy, but it “holds” well. In addition, Lenovo has released a version of this phone with a wooden base. The headphone jack is on top, the MicroUSB port is on the bottom. On the side of the case there are on/off and volume keys. With dimensions of 76.5 × 153.7 × 9.1, the smartphone weighs 158 g, which is quite good.
Display
The Lenovo K4 Note smartphone is equipped with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen with Full HD resolution, as well as a pixel density of 401 PPI. A high resolution does its job - games and videos go with a bang and are very pleasing to the user’s eyes. The viewing angles of the model are not too wide, but this can be mitigated by brightness settings.
The default color balance is quite good, although the color “temperature” is closer to cool. There are several options for setting color balance and temperature. For example, in Comfort mode, according to the developers, the eyes are least exposed negative influence when viewing the display for a long time. There is also “smart brightness” and manual mode. In general, everything is fine with the model’s screen.
Iron
Under the hood of the Lenovo K4 Note there is an 8-core MediaTek MT6753 processor with a frequency of 1.3 GHz, a Mali-T720MP3 GPU, and 2 or 3 gigabytes of RAM. As for the internal storage, the smartphone here has 3 modifications – 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB. If this is not enough for you, the memory can be expanded using a microSD card (up to 256 GB).
Such characteristics cannot be called flagship, but they are quite enough for comfortable performance of everyday tasks. And games, including the newest ones, work quite normally here.
Sound
The K4 Note has dual front-facing speakers that support Dolby ATMOS features. Their volume isn't crazy, but you can get rich stereo sound that further enhances your video or gaming experience. Dolby ATMOS settings allow you to switch between different sound profiles, for example, “Movie”, “Music”, “Games”, etc. These settings can also be changed manually. In headphones, the sound of the Lenovo K4 Note is simply fantastic!
operating system
The gadget ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop, but is already available stable update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which can be applied immediately after the first launch of the smartphone.
Camera
The smartphone is equipped with two cameras. The main one is a 13-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture and dual LED flash. The front one already comes with 5 megapixels. The main “eye” takes very good photographs, especially in good lighting. In poor lighting conditions, noise may appear in the footage.
As for video, the camera is capable of recording videos in Full HD resolution at 30 frames per second. However, the video quality is not particularly impressive, but the sound on it is good - thanks to three microphones that allow you to suppress background noise.
Battery
Lenovo K4 Note phone comes with a 3300mAh non-removable battery that ensures good times battery life. In the “normal” mode of use, the charge is enough for a whole day, plus, perhaps, for part of the next.
Price
The real cost of Lenovo K4 Note is $164, but in Russia I was able to find offers for only 15,600 rubles. Therefore, I advise you to use foreign online platforms to purchase a gadget at an adequate price.
conclusions
Without a doubt, Lenovo has done Good work with K4 Note model. Among the main advantages we note a solid design, high build quality, excellent sound, a capacious battery and decent performance. The only significant drawback of the gadget is the camera, which seems to be quite good, but by modern standards it is inferior to many. However, do not forget that this is a budget smartphone.
Inexpensive Lenovo K series smartphones have good characteristics and can serve admirably in any chosen role. The other day, another device in this line was presented in Delhi - Lenovo K4 Note. With it, the Chinese hope to break the sales record. This is not just an upgrade of the K3 Note, this is a device of a fundamentally new level. In some ways it even surpasses top models from Apple, HTC and Samsung. It's the first smartphone to feature Dolby Atmos and powerful stereo speakers for unparalleled audio quality. In addition, several special accessories were prepared for the device, its design was updated, and a fingerprint scanner was added to the back. For a device that can impress with its cheapness, the Lenovo K4 Note has a huge number of different nice features.
Specifications
Dimensions 76.5x153.7x9.15 mm Weight 158 grams Android 5.1 OS Screen diagonal 5.5 inches Resolution 1920x1080 pixels RAM 3 GB Built-in memory 16 GB, with support microSD cards up to 128 GB Processor 8-core MediaTek MT6753 Camera 13 MP, front – 5 MP SIM cards 2, microSIM, work alternately Non-removable battery, Li-Ion, 3300 mAhFrame
The device looks rather boring; design was clearly not a priority here. There were rumors that the new Lenovo product would have an all-metal body, but the Chinese company still decided to save money: only the frame and thin frame around the perimeter, the rest is made of plastic. The device fits well in the hand; for a comfortable grip, the back cover is specially slightly curved. The smartphone is light and thin, especially for its 5.5-inch screen: if in the middle there is a standard 9.15 mm thickness, then at the edges it is only 3.8 mm, which is close to an absolute record.
?The speakers have now been moved to the front panel and can be seen at the top and bottom of the screen. A very good solution for talking, watching movies and listening to music, but not the best a good option to answer calls. Due to the curved back panel, the device has to be placed “face down” on the table, so that both speakers are covered by its surface. If you often worry about missing an important call because you couldn't hear the sound from your smartphone, the Lenovo K4 Note may not be the device for you.
Another new feature for this series is a fingerprint scanner. He was placed here on back panel, right under the camera window. It works well, recognizes fairly quickly, no complaints.
So far, Lenovo K4 Note is available only in white and black versions, but the Chinese are going to release replacement ones back covers five different colors, including wood and leather. The surface of a black smartphone is quite easily soiled, it gets dusty easily and fingerprints are clearly visible on it, so white or any other color in the case of the Lenovo K4 Note will be much better.
Camera
The smartphone has the most standard cameras for 2016: a 13 megapixel front camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. To the right of the main camera window you can see a powerful two-color dual LED flash. The image quality is decent, but optical stabilization no, and pictures in motion turn out noticeably blurry. However, many other devices with similar price the situation is much worse.
Display
The 5.5-inch IPS display has Full HD clarity, traditional for such dimensions, and a wonderful durable glass coating, Gorilla Glass 3. Before the release of the device, Lenovo promised a kind of “killer” display, but in fact the screen turned out to be quite ordinary. Contrast is about 800:1, maximum brightness is around 500 cd/m2. Decent numbers, but nothing incredible.
Performance
The smartphone has a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor with a frequency of 1.3 GHz. For modern applications, this is enough: what can I say, even the iPhone 6 is dual-core. Graphics adapter also does not disappoint: here it is the Mali T720-MP3. For the next few years, the launch of all games on maximum quality you are guaranteed. There is also plenty of RAM, 3 GB. They were modest here only in terms of built-in memory: it is 16 GB, of which we have about 9 GB left. This, of course, will not be enough even for an average media library. And on Lenovo K4 Note I want to download as many powerful games and high-quality movies as possible. Therefore, you will have to buy an additional microSD memory card.
Some expected Lenovo to outdo itself and insert even more new processor Helio P10 and as much as 4 GB of RAM. The company itself actively fueled such rumors. But in the end, the choice of less expensive hardware definitely became wise: the price of the device became very “tasty”, and the difference in performance is still not noticeable, given the level of current applications and games.
Interface and OS
The smartphone has a completely standard Android system 5.1. It doesn’t offer anything fundamentally new: a task manager in the form of tabs, a slightly redesigned Lenovo notification panel, several proprietary applications (SYNCit, SHAREit) – that’s all. Even if you are switching to this smartphone from a device with Android 4.4, you will hardly notice the difference. Perhaps the most pleasant thing is that you can install two SIM cards into the device at once. Switching between them is convenient, the system is not annoying at all.
Battery
The smartphone's non-removable battery has a capacity of 3300 mAh, which is enough for about twenty hours in standby mode or six hours of active viewing of YouTube videos over Wi-Fi. Not a bad result, better than many competitors. Moreover, what’s nice is that this does not affect the weight of the device in any way.
Accessories and sound
The main feature of the smartphone is its sound.
The main feature of the smartphone is its sound. This is the main emphasis here. The device has two proprietary speakers of 1.5 W each. They support Dolby Atmos surround sound technology and have a special audio chip from Wolfson. The device is also equipped with three microphones.
It is not at all necessary to use headphones with the Lenovo K4 Note; even from the speakers you can quite hear surround sound with a wide palette. But still, the device is equipped with a special Skullcandy Ando headset. The black and red “plugs” are made of high quality plastic and look very stylish. It must be purchased separately for $19.5.
Another optional accessory is ANT VR, helmet virtual reality. These are large black or white glasses, when viewed through which you get the feeling that objects are really around you. The viewing angle is about one hundred degrees, the weight is 160 grams (it starts to get boring on your head over time). The helmet will have to be purchased separately, and the stated “support” is simply a pre-installed TheaterMax application that allows you to stream content from your smartphone to the glasses. If the technology takes root, other manufacturers will have no less of this.
So if you already have your favorite headphones, and you prefer to listen to music with them, you won’t notice most of the promoted advantages of the Lenovo K4 Note at all.
