The best frameless smartphones. The best frameless smartphones Smartphones with thin frames

Frameless smartphones appeared on the market in 2014, but this design concept gained real popularity only 2 years later - when Xiaomi introduced its fantastic Mi Mix gadget to the world. After this, every self-respecting Chinese manufacturer considered it necessary to release a frameless smartphone model.

The absence of frames can easily be called a mobile trend of 2019 - the modern market has no shortage of such gadgets. In this article we will talk about the most interesting of them.

Samsung M20

  • Display: 6.3 inches, 2340*1080 pixels
  • : 83.89%
  • CPU: Exynos 7904
  • : 13+2 megapixels / 8 megapixels
  • Battery capacity: 5000 mAh

Price: from 12,490 rubles.

Advantages:

  • Capacious battery and fast charging.
  • Compact body.
  • NFC.
  • Good memory reserve.
  • Great display.
  • Decent performance.
  • Adequate price tag.

Flaws:

  • No 5 GHz Wi-Fi support.
  • There is no event indicator.
  • An inconvenient finger scanner with a strange trigger mechanism - you need to knock on it, and not just put your finger on it.

Oppo A5s

  • Display: 6.2 inches, 1520*720 pixels
  • Screen area / front surface area: 89.35%
  • CPU: MediaTek Helio P35
  • Cameras (rear/front): 13+3 megapixels / 8 megapixels
  • Battery capacity: 4230 mAh

Price: from 11,990 rubles.

A good representative of the budget segment was released by Oppo. First of all, the smartphone pleases with its display – there are really minimal frames, as evidenced by the almost flagship-level coverage area. With a low resolution for a rather large diagonal, the picture looks comfortable, and the positive thing is that autonomy increases. A 4,230 mAh battery is enough for active work with the screen on for 7-8 hours. This is a great option. It is worth noting that the model has Gorilla Glass 3 protective glass.

Regarding performance, things are not the best - the processor is not enough for powerful games, only weak settings are available. There are also slowdowns when flipping through long pages and lists. The memory is presented as a set - 3/32 GB, and there is a separate slot for microSD. The device has good cameras, in general the level is decent, but naturally problems arise with a lack of light. Cunning users note that in this case, the situation can be improved by focusing on the brightest object.

Advantages:

Flaws:

  • Weak processor.
  • There is no fast charging - it will take 3 hours to fill the battery.
  • No NFC.
  • Old microUSB connector.
  • Mediocre sound through speaker.

Vivo V11

  • Display: 6.41 inches, 2340*1080 pixels
  • Screen area / front surface area: 91,27%
  • CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 660
  • Cameras (rear/front): 12+5 megapixels / 25 megapixels
  • Battery capacity: 3400 mAh

Price: from 15,990 rubles.

A very beautiful representative of frameless smartphones from Vivo. The device has a glass body with a beautiful shimmer, a laconic brand name in the center and without a fingerprint scanner. There is no need to be alarmed – the company has built it into the display. The latter occupies just over 91%, the frames are very thin and the device looks great. At the same time, the screen is not only huge and has a high resolution, but is also created using AMOLED technology. The model has an excellent Snapdragon 660 processor and cool memory parameters – 6/128 GB. The V11 boasts a high-quality camera, support for fast charging and a dedicated slot for MicroSD. The battery is average, but thanks to the energy-intensive display and chipset, it is enough for active use from morning to late evening.

Advantages:

  • Great design.
  • AMOLED display.
  • The finger scanner is located in the screen.
  • High performance.
  • Huge memory reserve.
  • There is a dedicated slot for microSD.
  • High-quality photo and video shooting.

Flaws:

  • No NFC.
  • Old microUSB connector.

ZTE Blade V10

  • Display: 6.26 inches, 2280*1080 pixels
  • Screen area / front surface area: 90.3%
  • CPU: MediaTek Helio P70
  • Cameras (rear/front): 16+5 megapixels / 32 megapixels
  • Battery capacity: 3200 mAh

Price: from 16,990 rubles.

The new ZTE Blade V10 is an excellent device for its price. Of course, there are some shortcomings, but they are not the most critical to write off the device. The device is made in a plastic case with the now familiar iridescent surface, has an excellent usable area, and in general the matrix turned out to be decent, the only unpleasant fact is that it looks faded in the sun.

The device has good performance. The processor and memory 4/64 GB are enough for any task. The camera is pleasantly pleasing, and in this case even night shooting does not cause any complaints. The front-facing camera will please the owners even more. She copes with her task perfectly. The model has NFC support, a modern Type-C connector, and Wi-Fiac support. Of course, for the money, the V10 is not the most interesting smartphone; more precisely, it has few unique features, but it is far from the last on the list.

Advantages:

  • Large high resolution display.
  • Good performance.
  • Excellent memory reserve.
  • High-quality cameras for photography.
  • There is NFC.
  • Fast and accurate fingerprint scanner.

Flaws:

Moto G7

  • Display: 6.2 inches, 2270*1080 pixels
  • Screen area / front surface area: 81,65%
  • CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 632
  • Cameras (rear/front): 12+5 megapixels / 8 megapixels
  • Battery capacity: 3000 mAh

Price: from 16,990 rubles.

Motorola has a long and difficult history. At the moment, the brand is again presenting its new models in Russia and is quite capable of attracting the interest of buyers. G7 is proof of this. Looking at the characteristics, the device looks unsightly, but you shouldn’t judge it too harshly. Despite the fact that the screen does not have the largest usable area, this does not cause any particular inconvenience. The device remains frameless and, compared to all the competitors listed above, it is the only device that is comfortable to operate with one hand. The matrix is IPS, but the manufacturer has equipped it with AlwaysOn mode - when the user picks up the gadget, it automatically turns on the display, displaying the time and notifications. The front part is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

The second nice thing is the design. Yes, the same glass is used here as in many manufacturers, but the corporate logo looks interesting, neatly inscribed in the finger scanner, as well as the large camera module. The phone is not slippery at all, but it does get easily soiled. Therefore, it is better to carry it in the case that is included in the kit. The device runs on the Snapdragon 632, which may cause disappointment for many, but it is hardly inferior to the 660 model, the difference is noticeable in benchmarks and very productive games. The device has a good amount of memory – 4/64 GB and a dedicated slot for microSD. The modest battery provides daily autonomy, which is quite good and has support for fast charging. All this is complemented by a full set of wireless interfaces, including NFC.

Separately, it should be noted that the camera has a large number of modes, and it is the only one among all the models described above that can shoot in 4K. The gadget has a good speaker and decent sound in headphones. Another feature is splash protection, not to be confused with moisture protection! Overall, the result is a quite comfortable smartphone for everyday use and photo enthusiasts at an affordable price.

Advantages:

  • High ergonomics.
  • Not the most typical design.
  • Mode
  • Splash protection.
  • Availability of NFC.
  • Own memory card slot.
  • Fast charging.
  • High performance for any task.
  • The camera can shoot in 4K and has many interesting modes.

Flaws:

  • Stained body.

Huawei Nova 4

  • Display: 6.4 inches, 2310*1080 pixels
  • Screen area / front surface area: 91,8%
  • CPU: Kirin 970
  • Cameras (rear/front): 20+16+2 megapixels / 25 megapixels
  • Battery capacity: 3750 mAh

Price: from 26,990 rubles.

The Nova line from Huawei is the flagship for young people, that is, it has maximum capabilities at the best price. Of course, not everyone will find 27 thousand rubles affordable, but compared to real flagships this is quite good. The device is based on a powerful chipset of its own production, has a huge memory set - 8/128 GB, AI support and GPU Turbo technology to improve graphics in games.

The device was released in two variations of the main camera - in both cases they are triple, but the more expensive version has a 48 MP sensor from Sony, and the more affordable device (27 thousand) has a 20 MP module. We shoot the device great. An interesting decision was the placement of the front camera - it is embedded in the upper left corner of the display and, according to the creators, is the smallest in the world. This is done in order not to distract users and save useful space.

Advantages:

  • Beautiful appearance.
  • Interesting placement of the front camera.
  • Excellent photo opportunities.
  • Shooting video in 4K.
  • Fast charging support.
  • Powerful processor.
  • Large supply of RAM and ROM.

Flaws:

  • No NFC.

Honor View 20

  • Display: 6.4 inches, 2340 x 1080 pixels
  • Screen area / front surface area: 91,8%
  • CPU: Kirin 980
  • Cameras (rear/front): 48+3D TOF MP / 25 MP
  • Battery capacity: 4000 mAh

Price: from 29,580 rubles.

View 20 is a true flagship. The model received a large AllView format display, that is, the front camera is embedded in the corner. There are no complaints about this solution, but there is one nuance - the cutout is located asymmetrically with respect to the top and side edges, which was immediately noticed by attentive users, however, these are minor things. In everyday life it is not noticeable at all. The smartphone boasts a top-end 2019 processor of its own production, a powerful camera with depth measurement and a new function - in real time, the chipset is able to correct a person’s figure before taking a photo.

The design turned out to be interesting - traditional glass with the letter V for the word View looks impressive. The device has good memory performance - 6/128 GB and a full set of wireless interfaces. All this is accompanied by decent battery life and fast charging.

Advantages:

  • Flagship processor.
  • Large amount of RAM and ROM.
  • Great camera with decent night shots.
  • Interesting design.
  • A full set of wireless interfaces, even the IR port was not forgotten.
  • Fast charging.

Flaws:

  • Strange operation of the proximity sensor.
  • Applications are unloaded from memory during prolonged inactivity - the smartphone does not display their notifications.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 3

  • Display: 6.39 inches, 2340*1080 pixels
  • Screen area / front surface area: 85%
  • CPU: Snapdragon 845
  • Cameras (rear/front): 12+12 megapixels / 24+2 megapixels
  • Battery capacity: 3200 mAh

Price: from 29,870 rubles.

The Chinese brand Xiaomi has quite a few frameless models, and in terms of usable space, Mi Mix 3 is hardly the best. Nevertheless, the phone is interesting - powerful hardware, a high-quality SuperAMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 5, support for all modern wireless standards, fast charging and a powerful camera with an optical stabilizer. It would seem that the set is typical for a flagship and this is true, the device can easily be classified as such. But the most interesting thing is the retractable design. As of June 2019, this is not the only slider, but Mi Mix 3 was one of the first and, judging by the reviews, users liked it more than others. Like previous devices in the Mi Mix series, the smartphone received a weight that affected its weight. It is 218 grams.

Advantages:

  • Sliding magnetic mechanism.
  • High-quality camera with optical stabilizer.
  • Nice appearance.
  • SuperAMOLED matrix with Gorilla Glass 5 coating.
  • Fast charging.
  • All wireless interfaces.
  • High performance.

Flaws:

  • Heavy weight.
  • No headphone jack.

Removed from selection

  • Display: 5.8 inches, 2960×1440 pixels
  • Screen area / front surface area: 84.47%
  • CPU: Exynos 8895
  • Cameras (rear/front): 12 megapixels / 8 megapixels
  • Battery capacity: 3,000 mAh

Price: from 54,990 rub.

The flagship Samsung Galaxy S8 is the most impressive new product of 2017 so far. This frameless smartphone has such an original design that it is simply impossible to pass by without looking at it with a dreamy look.

The Galaxy S8 screen occupies almost 85% of the front edge - according to this indicator, the smartphone is one of the best. The display, made using SuperAMOLED technology, boasts the highest resolution on the market - QHD. The front surface of the smartphone is completely smooth - there are no mechanical buttons on it, the Home key is touch-sensitive.

The original design is great, but how well does the device work? The Galaxy S8 will definitely not disappoint the user with its performance. The gadget is equipped with a top-level chipset of Samsung's own production Exynos 8895 with a powerful graphics accelerator - there are no “toys” that would make the S8 freeze. According to the specifications, the cameras look modest, but the new model takes better photographs than the Galaxy S7 Plus - due to more advanced software.

Advantages

  • "Alien" design;
  • One of the most powerful processors on the market;
  • A screen boasting the highest resolution;
  • Support for 2 SIM cards (something that Apple definitely cannot provide);
  • Supports Quick Charge0 fast charging technology;
  • Availability of an iris scanner.

Flaws

  • Small battery capacity;
  • Impressive value.

Nubia Z11

  • Display: 5.5 inches, 1920×1080 pixels
  • Screen area / front surface area: 76.23%
  • CPU: Snapdragon 820
  • Cameras (rear/front): 16 megapixels / 8 megapixels
  • Battery capacity: 3,000 mAh

Price: from 22,600 rub.

Nubia Z11 is a record-breaking smartphone. As of mid-2017, it is the thinnest device with a 5.5-inch display - and this is due to the lack of frames! However, users love the smartphone from ZTE not at all because it is frameless - there are a number of other reasons.

Z11 is a real gift for a music lover. The manufacturer equipped the device with an AKM4376 audio chip with Dolby Surround 7.1 and Hi-Fi +, thanks to which the gadget is able to provide excellent sound with the correct balance of high and low frequencies in the headphones and completely replace the audio player. In addition to the built-in DAC, a smartphone from ZTE can boast of a fingerprint sensor, the presence of a connector, stable operation of a modern processor and, of course, a strict and sophisticated metal design.

The only serious drawback of the device is the battery capacity. Still, 3,000 mAh is not much by modern standards, especially for a premium gadget. This disadvantage is partly compensated by the fact that the Z11 supports fast charging technology, which allows you to charge your smartphone’s battery from zero to full in just 1 hour.

Advantages

Flaws

  • A mediocre screen on which the picture goes “blue”.
  • Small battery capacity.
  • The second SIM card cannot be used simultaneously with a flash card.
  • Quite a high cost.

Sony Xperia XA

  • Display: 5 inches, 1280×720 pixels
  • Screen area / front surface area: 72.08%
  • CPU: MediaTek Helio P10
  • Cameras (rear/front): 13 megapixels / 8 megapixels
  • Battery capacity: 2,300 mAh

Price: from 12,990 rub.

The prices of most frameless smartphones, alas, “bite painfully.” An affordable alternative to expensive models is the Sony Xperia XA smartphone, for which domestic sellers ask a little more than ten thousand rubles.

The inexpensive gadget Xperia XA does not offer anything revolutionary new and does not encroach on records, but it is made very well. Sony developers deserve praise primarily for the well-thought-out ergonomics of the Xperia XA - the device fits perfectly in the hand, and after long-term use there is no discomfort in the hand. The material from which the gadget’s body is made is matte plastic. There is a minimum of metal here, however, even being plastic, the smartphone looks so that you immediately want to pick it up.

The obvious advantage of the Sony Xperia XA is its front camera, which boasts a fairly high resolution (8 megapixels), autofocus and the ability to record FullHD video. But the shooting quality of the rear camera does not cause a “wow” effect: photos from it are of an average level - despite useful “bonuses”, such as hybrid autofocus and the function of tracking a moving object.

Experts say the main disadvantage of a frameless smartphone from Sony is the inflated price/functionality ratio. Considering that the Xperia XA runs on an antediluvian processor, has a mediocre screen and a weak battery, its cost should be even lower.

Advantages

  • Ergonomic design.
  • High-quality front camera with autofocus.
  • Affordable price (albeit a little overpriced).
  • Possibility to install 2 SIM cards and a flash drive at the same time.
  • Chinese smartphone – the camera was next to the “Home” key.

    The Doogee smartphone has a low price – about $180. There is no notorious mark-up for a big brand name, thanks to which Doogee Mix is even cheaper than the Sony Xperia XA. At the same time, both in terms of design and technical characteristics, the Mix will give odds to a Japanese smartphone. The Chinese gadget is made exclusively from premium materials (metal and glass - no plastic), equipped with a SuperAMOLED display, which, despite its low resolution, provides a bright and juicy picture, and “under the hood” has the latest processor from MTK. Unlike the Xperia XA, the Doogee Mix boasts a dual rear camera and a capacious battery, which, thanks to Quick Charge technology, can be recharged to 80% in just half an hour.

    The main disadvantage of the budget device from Doogee seems to be its inaccessibility. It is unlikely that you will be able to find a smartphone in the windows of Russian showrooms; you will have to order it from China.

    Elephone S7 is a copy of Samsung S7 Edge not entirely correct. The manufacturer from the Middle Kingdom still “intercepted” some of the design elements from the Korean giant, but overall the Elephone S7 is quite an original device, only slightly inferior in popularity to Samsung.

    The main reason for the high sales of the S7 becomes obvious at the first glance at the Chinese smartphone - it is really very beautiful! The case is not entirely metal: only the ends of the device are made of metal, while the back cover is made of glossy plastic, but this does not in any way reduce the cost of the device’s appearance. The symbiosis of metal and plastic is done “excellently” - there are no gaps into which dust could get clogged, and there are no complaints about the build quality of the S7 in general.

    As for the technical characteristics of the S7, it is worth noting the high performance of the device and its excellent display. “Under the hood” of the gadget is a 10-core (!) 64-bit processor from MediaTek, which, coupled with 4 GB of RAM, gives the user the opportunity to enjoy even the most resource-intensive games. The curved screen of the device with a diagonal of 5.5 inches is covered with protective Gorilla Glass and has a resolution that neither the Sony Xperia XA nor the “Chinese” from Doogee – FullHD can boast of. With all this, the miracle smartphone from Elephone costs a little more than 11 thousand rubles - which allows us to classify it as a budget segment.

    Advantages

    • Attractive design.
    • High performance.
    • High-quality FullHD display.
    • Long battery life.
    • Low cost.

    Flaws

    • Slow camera shutter.
    • Already outdated Android 0 out of the box.

After Xiaomi unexpectedly released the frameless Mi Mix, many manufacturers followed suit and began releasing their smartphones with minimal frames. Companies have begun to reduce the thickness of side panels to zero, and looking at the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8, it seems that the South Korean giant is doing this very well.

The panels above and below the screen are gradually becoming smaller, but there are no such huge successes here. I will also note that the proportionality of the sides also changes; for the most famous brands it is 18:9 and 18.5:9.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+

The Galaxy S8 came out earlier this year with an “infinity display.” There are virtually no bezels on either side of the screen, as the display itself is slightly curved. To make the display even more impressive, the company has made it taller. With a 5.8-inch panel, the width of the device is only 68.1 mm, which is even less than that of 5-inch smartphones; moreover, you can find 4.5-inch panels with a larger width.

The Galaxy S8 is 148.9mm tall and 8mm thick. The model has a high screen-to-body ratio of 83.6%. In addition to its large size, the display has a high resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels.

Everything inside is also top notch. Let me remind you that this is the first flagship based on Snapdragon 835 released this year. However, it is worth noting that in most markets the smartphone is equipped with Exynos 8895. The performance of the two chips is approximately at the same level.

The device was also equipped with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory, expandable via memory cards. There is an 8 MP camera on the front panel and a 12 MP camera on the back. Inside there is a 3000 mAh battery with support for fast and wireless charging.

In addition, the smartphone is equipped with an iris scanner, IP68 water protection and works like a desktop computer, connecting a monitor, keyboard and mouse using a docking station.

The Galaxy S8+ differs from the regular model in the size of the display (6.2-inch) and battery (3500 mAh).

Samsung Galaxy Note 8

This year the South Korean giant managed to announce another flagship with a frameless design, the Galaxy Note 8. The main differences from the previous two smartphones are the presence of an S Pen stylus and a dual camera with 2x optical zoom.

The dual camera consists of two 12 megapixel sensors, each with optical stabilization, while other manufacturers only have optical stabilization in one module.

The smartphone also differs from the Galaxy S8 series in its larger screen size (6.3 inches) and more RAM (6 GB), as well as another battery capacity of 3300 mAh. Dimensions: 162.5 x 74.6 x 8.5 mm. The screen-to-body ratio is 82.98%.

LG V30

LG V30, like Note 8, has just been presented, but very soon it will also go on sale. The smartphone has a 6-inch display with a screen resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels. Unlike Samsung, LG decided to use flat displays because screens with curved edges are easier to damage.

In addition to the design, they did a great job on the main camera. It consists of a 16 MP sensor and a 13 MP wide-angle lens. The camera app has a variety of filters for shooting videos in the style of any movie genre. In addition, when zooming while shooting a video, the object indicated on the screen falls into the center of the frame.

The LG V30 also features a Snapdragon 835, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a 3,300mAh battery. The flagship is IP68 certified and has high quality audio recording. Dimensions: 151.4 x 75.2 x 7.4 mm. The screen-to-body ratio is 81.63%.

LG G6 and Q6 series

LG previously released the 5.7-inch G6. The screen is made using IPS technology, its aspect ratio is 18:9, and the resolution is 2880 x 1440 pixels. It differs from the flagships described above by last year’s top-end Snapdragon 821 processor.

Everything else is no worse than the others: dual camera, 4 GB + 64 GB memory, fast and wireless charging, waterproof according to IP68 certificate.

The smartphone has a fingerprint sensor and an iris scanner. Dimensions: 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9 mm. Screen-to-body ratio 78.6%.

In addition, this model has more budget versions with the same frameless design: Q6, Q6+ and Q6a. All three smartphones are equipped with 16 MP main and 5 MP front cameras.

They are powered by Snapdragon 435. The display is 5-inch and has a lower resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. They differ in the amount of memory.

Essential PH-1

The Essential PH-1 is the first smartphone from Andy Rubin's team, which previously worked at the origins of the Android OS. The main highlight of the device was the ability to install a 360-degree camera on it. For this purpose, there are special Click connectors on the rear panel.

The 360-degree camera consists of 2 12 MP sensors with fish-eye lenses with an f/1.8 aperture. However, it is sold as a separate accessory.

As for the smartphone itself, it is equipped with a 5.71" LTPS IPS display with a resolution of 2560 x 1312 pixels. Inside there is a Snapdragon 835, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, as well as a 3040 mAh battery. At the back there is a dual camera of two 13 megapixels sensors with f/1.9 aperture Dimensions: 141.5 x 71.1 x 7.8 mm Screen-to-body ratio 84.9%.

UMIDIGI Crystal

If the devices described above primarily belong to the flagship class, then UMIDIGI Crystal is a real budget device. The fact is that pre-orders for the smartphone are still open, and the basic version with 2 GB + 16 GB costs $109.99. The 4 GB + 64 GB model is $30 more expensive.

UMIDIGI Crystal has virtually no frames on the top and sides; the front camera, which is usually located above the screen, has been moved to the very bottom. The 5.5-inch display has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. Unlike Samsung and LG, UMIDIGI decided not to change the proportionality of the screen.

This is primarily due to the fact that the vast majority of modern video has a 16:9 ratio. Therefore, if a manufacturer made Crystal with an aspect ratio of approximately 2:1, then additional algorithms would have to be used to convert the content, otherwise the videos would not occupy the entire screen. As a result, the device has a fairly large width of 74.8 mm.

The thickness and height are 8.1 and 141.3 mm, respectively. The manufacturer claims that the screen-to-body ratio is 88%.

At the back, the smartphone has a dual camera consisting of 13 megapixel and 5 megapixel sensors. Inside the UMIDIGI Crystal is a 1.5GHz 8-core Mediatek chip and a 3000mAh battery. Android 7.0 OS is pre-installed, in which Russian and Ukrainian languages are available. Plus there is a fingerprint scanner and Gorilla Glass 4 coating.

The only thing that’s confusing is that deliveries were supposed to begin on August 25, it’s already the beginning of September, and the company is still accepting pre-orders.

UMIDIGI S2 and S2 Pro

UMIDIGI didn’t think one frameless smartphone was enough and announced the UMIDIGI S2 and S2 Pro. They currently start at $229.99, but they offer much more than the UMIDIGI Crystal.

Firstly, there is a new 2:1 aspect ratio, and the 6-inch screen takes up 90% of the front panel. Secondly, the battery has a capacity of 5100 mAh and provides 2 days of operation. Thirdly, the smartphone has a dual camera with a Sony IMX258 sensor. This alone is enough to buy the UMIDIGI S2 or S2 Pro, but it also has USB-C, fast charging, a 98% metal body and Gorilla Glass 4.

Both versions differ in the amount of memory and processor. Inside the S2 there is 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of ROM, Helio P20 with a frequency of 2.3 GHz. S2 Pro 6GB + 64GB and Helio P25. Dimensions: 158.1 x 74.6 x 8.8 mm.

Homtom S8

Homtom S8 is at the pre-order stage and is a budget device; it can now be ordered for $170. The front panel is similar to the UMIDIGI S2, and judging by the name, it tries to emulate the Galaxy S8. However, there is a 5.7" display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 2:1.

Inside is a Mediatek MT6750T chipset, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of ROM with support for memory cards up to 128 GB. There is a 13 MP camera on the front, and two Sony sensors on the back with a resolution of 16 MP and 5 MP.

Under the hood is a 3400 mAh battery with fast charging support. Dimensions: 152 x 72.5 x 7.9 mm. 83% screen-to-body ratio.

Vkworld Mix Plus

Vkworld Mix Plus is a very budget frameless smartphone. For some time it could be ordered for $99.99, now it costs $139.99, but the company’s website still has instructions on how to buy it for $109.99.

The smartphone resembles the UMIDIGI Crystal, but loses to it in many ways. The 5.5" display has a lower resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Inside there is a 2850 mAh battery, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of flash memory. Vkworld Mix Plus is powered by the MTK6737 chipset with a clock frequency of 1.3 GHz. This chip is made according to the old technology and it no longer has a place in modern devices.

But the operating system is almost the latest - Android 7.0. The smartphone has one 13 MP camera on the back panel and another 8 MP camera on the front panel.

The main advantage of this model is the price, but UMIDIGI has a Crystal for a few dollars more, which offers a much higher price/quality ratio. Dimensions: 143 x 74 x 7.9 mm.

Maze Alpha

The next smartphone also belongs to the budget class. And although the Maze Alpha has minimal bezels, the Home key still remains. Not far from it is a front camera with a resolution of 5 megapixels and a viewing angle of 84 degrees. The screen has a diagonal of 6 inches and an aspect ratio of 16:9, so the device is quite wide.

The display is made using IPS technology and has Full HD resolution. It is protected from damage by Gorilla Glass 4. The smartphone is powered by MediaTek Helio P25. Maze Alpha was released in two versions: with 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM. Both models have 64 GB of flash memory plus support for memory cards.

At the back there is a dual camera with a combination of 13 MP + 5 MP. It has an f/2.2 aperture, electronic stabilization and a Samsung S5K3L8 sensor. Under the hood is a 4000 mAh battery. Android 7.0 is pre-installed, which is available in many languages, including Ukrainian, Russian and Kazakh. Dimensions: 159.8 x 82.5 x 8.1 mm. 83% screen-to-body ratio.

Leagoo KIICAA Mix

Like the previous smartphone, Leagoo KIICAA Mix comes with a Home button on the bottom panel. As the name suggests, the design of the device is copied from the original Mi Mix. However, there are significant differences, both in size and internal filling, but do not forget that, first of all, Leagoo KIICAA Mix is a budget product. The manufacturer priced the version with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory at $140.

In keeping with the latest trends, the smartphone has a dual camera, but it is unlikely that it is noticeably better than single cameras, since it is a combination of OmniVision sensors with a resolution of 13 megapixels and 2 megapixels.

Unlike the Mi Mix, there is only a 5.5-inch IPS display with Full HD resolution. Inside is a weak Mediatek MT6750T processor. At the front there is a 13 MP front camera. The smartphone runs on Freeme OS 7.0, based on Android 7.0. The battery has a capacity of 3000 mAh. Dimensions: 141.7 x 75.8 x 7.9 mm.

Ulefone S8 Pro

Ulefone S8 Pro looks like a regular Android smartphone without buttons under the display and with frames on the sides that are only 0.5 mm thick. Unlike most modern devices, this model has a removable cover, under which there are two slots for SIM cards and one for a microSD card. There you can also see a 3000 mAh battery.

There is a regular S8 model, but it has half the memory, a different processor and only supports 3G, and is about a $10 difference from the S8 Pro. The advanced version has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of permanent memory, as well as a Mediatek 6737. The internal filling here does not promise good performance, but the price tag is only $80.

Compared to previously described models, the S8 Pro has a non-standard display size of 5.3 inches. Screen resolution 1280 x 720 pixels.

On the back panel there is a dual camera 13 MP + 5 MP, but the manufacturer specifies that an 8 MP sensor is installed, the resolution of which is interpolated to 13 MP. A similar situation occurs with the front camera, only here the 2 MP sensor interpolates the photo to 5 MP. The aperture of the two cameras is f/2.2.

The smartphone has a fingerprint scanner that responds in 0.18 seconds. To connect other devices there is a microUSB and a 3.5 audio jack. Ulefone S8 Pro runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. Dimensions: 146.4 x 72.2 x 9.2 mm.

Bluboo S8

Bluboo S8 is another budget phone that imitates the Galaxy S8. The 5.7" display from Sharp with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels, according to the manufacturer, occupies almost 90% of the front panel. The screen has an aspect ratio of 2:1, with thin frames below and above it, so the front panel looks very attractive.

The back panel differs from the original with a dual camera and a different location of the fingerprint scanner and flash.

The manufacturer advertises that the main camera has a combination of 16 MP + 3 MP, and the selfie camera shoots 8 MP self-portraits, but in the technical specifications next to 16 MP and 8 MP, 13 MP and 5 MP are mentioned, respectively. So there is a high probability that real sensors have a resolution of 13 megapixels and 5 megapixels.

Inside is MTK6750T, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, 3450 mAh battery. Dimensions: 149.5 x 70.6 x 8.4 mm.

Bluboo S1

Bluboo, like other Chinese manufacturers, decided to copy several iconic devices at once, so in addition to the ultra-budget version of the Galaxy S8, the company released a slightly more equipped smartphone, but copying the Xiaomi Mi Mix.

The height and thickness of the S1 and S8 are not too different, but the difference in width is a few millimeters. In S1, instead of a 5.7-inch display in S8, a 5.5-inch one was installed, but the resolution was increased to Full HD. In addition, the screen has a high contrast ratio of 1400:1 and is protected by Gorilla Glass 4.

Inside, everything is a little better too: Mediatek Helio P25, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. In addition, there is a version with 6 GB of RAM, but the internal memory remains unchanged. The camera specifications are the same as in the S8. The manufacturer claims a screen-to-body ratio of 90%. Dimensions: 148.6 x 74.3 x 7.9 mm.

Doogee Mix

Doogee Mix is a cute alternative to Xiaomi Mi Mix. It has a glass back and a metal frame. Below the screen is a Home button with a built-in biometric sensor. The device has a 5.5" Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 720p, the panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

Doogee Mix also installed a Mediatek chipset, but not the budget MT6737, but much more powerful than the Helio P25. Memory 4 GB + 64 GB or 6 GB + 128 GB. On the back panel, unlike the original Mix, there are two sensors: 16 MP and 8 MP.

A 5 MP camera was installed on the front for taking selfies. The smartphone runs on Android 7.0 and has a 3380 mAh battery with support for fast charging. Dimensions: 144 x 76.2 x 7.95. The screen-to-body ratio is about 76%.

Elephone S8

The next smartphone, although it has S8 in its name, is also a copy of Xiaomi Mi Mix. It is more expensive than previous budget phones and costs $279. The main advantage of the Elephone S8 is its high-resolution screen of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The display has a diagonal of 6 inches and a standard aspect ratio of 16:9. It is protected from damage by Gorilla Glass 4. The screen occupies 92.4% of the front panel.

The performance of this device should be at a good level, since it contains last year's top-end chipset Mediatek Helio X25. Inside there are 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of permanent memory. The Elephone S8 did not waste time on two cameras on the rear panel and installed one, but with a resolution of 21 megapixels. And on the front panel they inserted another 8 MP selfie camera.

Under the hood there is a 4000 mAh battery. Dimensions: 152 x 80.7 x 8.6 mm. Among all the budget alternatives to Xiaomi Mi Mix, this smartphone looks the most attractive, at least in terms of technical characteristics.

Conclusion

All of the above smartphones were released this year and run on Android 7.x. In addition to the frameless design, they also have other interesting features. Most of them are already equipped with a dual camera.

Smartphones are mainly flagships and budget phones, but there are also representatives of the middle class, for example, the LG Q6 line. Budget options are mostly copies of the Galaxy S8 and Mi Mix. Frameless iPhone 8 and Mi Mix 2 are also expected to appear this year.

In two thousand and seventeen, the mobile phone market is so large that it can sometimes be difficult to decide on the choice of model.

Going to the store and looking at the product, you understand perfectly well that all phones have large RAM, approximately the same front and main cameras.

I want something extraordinary, to be able to stand out among millions of people.

Now such an opportunity has arisen. Not so long ago, mobile manufacturers introduced new models of gadgets to the modern world - frameless phones.

What is this technique? This is an ordinary mobile phone that has an enlarged touch screen, and this mobile phone has no frames.

Such equipment looks really beautiful and dignified. In two thousand and seventeen, a large number of companies began to produce frameless phones.

But which one to choose? What should you pay attention to? You will receive answers to these and other questions in this publication.

Especially for you, we decided to create the Top 15 frameless smartphones of 2017.

Characteristics

  • display 5.8 inches, 2960*1440;
  • the processor includes eight cores Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Samsung Exynos 8895;
  • four gigabytes of RAM;
  • cameras twelve and eight megapixels;
  • weight one hundred and fifty grams;
  • cost approximately $870.

This device is fascinating. Absolutely everyone is looking at him. With such a mobile phone you will not get lost among millions of people.

The device is completely frameless, which can be seen in the picture above. The smartphone's hardware is top-notch and costs the maximum amount of hardware.

It is worth paying attention to the camera of your mobile phone. There are two of them. The main camera has twelve megapixels, and the second has eight. The photos come out simply amazing.

The edges of the phone, as mentioned above, simply do not exist; instead, there are rounded edges of the screen, which makes the image even more realistic.

Of course, such equipment costs a lot of money, but it’s worth it.

Samsung has released two versions of this device: large and small.

Price

Characteristics

  • display 6.4 inches, 2040*1080;
  • the processor includes four Snapdragon 821 cores;
  • weight two hundred nine grams;
  • cost from $500.

The developers came up with an interesting technology. They placed the front camera and fingerprint sensor directly under the front glass.

As for the back surface, it has an organic appearance. Unfortunately, getting rid of smudges and fingerprints can be very difficult and frustrating.

As for the processor, it does not have the most top-end hardware installed, but it will be enough for comfortable use of most programs.

Of course, according to many experts, this phone should cost much more. Therefore, it is difficult to believe the fact that such a phone model exists.

Characteristics

  • display 5.5 inches, 1280*720;
  • the processor includes eight Helio P25 cores;
  • cameras sixteen and five megapixels;
  • cost from $170.

Another gadget that we considered necessary to include in this top fifteen best frameless phones in two thousand and seventeen is Doogee Mix.

The device, like the previous model, has a low cost.

The smartphone looks impressive, is clad in a glass-aluminum body, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, has a dual main camera and a fingerprint scanner.

A significant disadvantage of the device is low resolution, the pixels will be distinguishable, but the display is made using . On the other hand, the HD screen has reduced power consumption.

Price

Characteristics

  • display 5 inches, 1280*720;
  • the processor includes eight Helio P10 cores;
  • two gigabytes of RAM and sixteen gigabytes of main memory;
  • thirteen and eight megapixel cameras;
  • weight one hundred ninety-three grams;
  • cost about $260.

This gadget was released by a well-known company with a long history, “Sony,” back in two thousand and sixteen. Nevertheless, the phone is extremely popular.

After all, he has a chic style. It also has a similar design to the Sony Xperia, but costs much less.

It is worth noting that in two thousand and seventeen the company also plans to update this line and release a brand new frameless smartphone called “Sony Xperia Edge”.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to find various information about it on the Internet.

What advantages does this model have? First of all, you need to pay attention to the weight of the phone; it is quite small, which indicates the compactness of the phone.

The phone is also highly efficient, which allows you to use it for a large amount of time without recharging.

The phone has an additional slot that can be used for a second SIM card, or for.

Photos taken with the main camera turn out quite passable, which is good news.

And yet, we believe that all shortcomings can be forgiven for the stunning style of the phone.

Price

Characteristics

  • display 5.2 inches, 1920*1080;
  • the processor includes eight cores with a frequency of 1.3 GHz;
  • three gigabytes of RAM and sixteen gigabytes of main memory;
  • thirteen and eight megapixel cameras
  • weight one hundred forty-five grams;
  • cost approximately $150.

Many users simply could not contain their emotions when the Elephone s3 was released, as they were very impressed by the excellent design of the new smartphone, clad in an all-metal body.

The phone has a 2.5D screen, so you don’t have to worry about the image quality, it’s great.

It is worth understanding that the developers removed only the side edges; the bottom and top edges still remained.

Therefore, this model is not entirely frameless, but it is still a new stage in the development of mobile gadgets.

There is FullHD resolution, a large supply of RAM, as well as a rear camera developed by Sony.

One of the disadvantages is the battery capacity, it is relatively small, but charging your mobile phone will last you until the evening of the working day, provided that you are an active user.

The rapid development of the Chinese mobile device market contributes not only to excellent quantitative indicators of production development, but also to their qualitative growth. An analysis of smartphones released in 2018-2019 showed that the number of gadgets with decent technical characteristics far exceeded the number of frankly weak devices. Very successful solutions have also appeared that can compete with famous brands.

It’s easy to get confused among the abundance of gadgets, given the fact that even in certain price or target niches there are dozens, if not hundreds of models. The study of technical parameters, popularity, owner reviews and price components made it possible to compile the TOP 10 most successful models of 2018-2019, as well as a rating of the best smartphones according to the most important indicators.

TOP 10 most popular Chinese smartphones

Xiaomi Redmi 4X

Redmi 4X is one of the best-selling smartphones of the past year, continuing Xiaomi’s victorious march in the Russian market, begun by the legendary Redmi Note 3 Pro. Considering its reasonable price, you won’t be able to get your hands on this gadget even if you want to – it has balanced characteristics, high-quality assembly, and regular updates with the ability to install many third-party firmware. There are simply no worthy alternatives to Redmi 4X in the price segment up to 10 thousand rubles. And if you want, you can buy it even cheaper - for 7/8 thousand

Meizu M6 Note

We consider the Meizu M6 Note to be the closest competitor to Redmi 4X. Moreover, Meizu’s first smartphone with a Snapdragon processor is superior to 4X in some characteristics - it has fast charging and a dual camera, and in general the photos on the M6 Note are much better. But it costs more, about 3-4 thousand rubles. Among the major differences between smartphones, we note the location of the fingerprint scanner - in Meiza it is built into a mechanical key located under the screen, while in Xiaomi the scanner is located on the back cover, and the firmware is Flyme and MIUI. In all other respects, these smartphones are approximately equivalent.

Huawei Nova 2

In the “above average” price segment, smartphones from Huawei traditionally rule the roost; the first model included in our rating is Nova 2. This is a smartphone in a compact metal case with a dual main camera, a large amount of memory (64/4 GB) and a powerful processor. If you want to purchase a hassle-free smartphone that will perform well in any use scenario, buy Nova 2 and you won’t regret it. Among the pitfalls, it is worth taking into account the not very outstanding battery life (2950 mAh battery, fast charging is present) and a somewhat inflated, in our opinion, price tag of around 20 thousand rubles.

Xiaomi Mi6

The flagship Mi6 concentrates all the strengths of Xiaomi smartphones. It is head and shoulders above other competitors in terms of price/quality ratio, since there is not a single other smartphone on the market that for 26 thousand rubles will give you a top-end Snapdragon 835 processor, a ton of memory, stereo speakers and excellent battery life. Let's blame the Mi6 for the lack of a 3.5 mm jack (included is an adapter for USB-C) and the camera is not as cool as other flagships. But this is nitpicking. This smartphone will please anyone, even the most demanding user.

One Plus 5

One Plus 5 is a good smartphone, but controversial. It copies Apple's design, does not provide the user with water resistance, stereo speakers, and does not have memory card support. Compared to the flagship from Xiaomi, these disadvantages can become critical, but there are advantages. In particular, pure Android version 7.1.1, the best camera among Chinese flagships, which pleases not only with high-quality pictures, but also with lightning-fast operating speed, as well as an AMOLED display, which has a positive effect on the autonomy of the gadget. One of the advantages of One Plus 5 is the presence of a traditional 3.5 headphone jack.

Motorola Moto Z2 Play

After the American brand Motorola was bought by Lenovo, the once iconic company can safely be included in the camp of Chinese manufacturers - all Lenovo smartphones are now released under the name Moto. One of the most successful results of such cooperation is the Moto Z2 Play - a smartphone that supports replaceable modules, has good battery life, a camera, excellent sound quality in headphones and an AMOLED display. Disadvantages - mediocre performance for a price of 25 thousand (Z2 Play is equipped with a Snapdragon 626 processor), and not the most powerful main speaker.

Motorola Moto Z2 Play

ZTE Nubia Z17

Smartphones from the Nubia line from ZTE have always been good flagships that, even without aggressive marketing from the manufacturer, found their loyal users. The Z17 is a continuation of the very successful Nubia Z11 model, in which nothing has changed dramatically, and everything that was good has become even a little better. There is a powerful Snapdragon 835, 128/8 GB of memory, a dual camera and an excellent frameless design. But there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack, which looks somewhat strange in the absence of moisture protection as such.

Huawei Honor 9

Honor 9 is a very cool smartphone. It looks cool and stylish, has an excellent camera (20+12 MP), good performance (chipset – Kirin 960), sufficient memory (64/4 GB) and fast charging.

In fact, this is an ideal choice for everyone who does not want to pay exorbitant amounts of money for flagship models, overpaying for an overly powerful processor and numbers of unnecessary characteristics, but at the same time wants to get almost all the advantages inherent in them.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2

Mi Max 2 is the best shovel phone of 2017 on the market. Xiaomi gave customers everything they could want from a similar smartphone with a price tag of less than 20 thousand rubles. Judge for yourself - 6.4 inch screen, Snapdragon 625, 64/4 GB of memory with expandability, 5300 mAh battery with fast charging, stereo speakers. We recommend Mi Max 2 to everyone who is looking for the optimal device for consuming multimedia content. The only complaint we can make is the lack of an NFC module.

Chinese smartphones with powerful batteries

The trend towards larger screens and increased productivity of mobile devices leads to the fact that some smartphone models barely survive from morning to evening. For users who don't like to sit near a power outlet, our rating of the 5 best models with the most capacious batteries will certainly help.

Oukitel K10000 Pro

Oukitel K10000 Pro is the record holder for battery capacity among all long-lasting smartphones on the market. Its survivability is ensured by a 10,000 mAh battery, which in a standard scenario of using a smartphone is enough for 4-5 days of operation without recharging. And the characteristics here are quite decent - 5.5’’ FHD IPS screen, 8-core MT6750T processor, 32/3 GB of memory with a MicroSD slot, 13 and 5 MP cameras, a fingerprint scanner and the latest Android 7.0. The price of the smartphone is 12 thousand rubles, and it is definitely worth the money.

Oukitel K10000 Pro

Doogee BL7000

The BL7000 differs from Oukitele in its more modest design and smaller battery, 7000 mAh. With active use of the smartphone, it lasts for 3 days, which can be considered an excellent result. In terms of characteristics, the Doogee BL7000 is even better, it has more memory - 64/4 GB, and a dual camera of 13 + 13 MP, the front camera resolution is also 13 MP. The smartphone just went on sale at a price of $200, and the first owners speak about it exclusively on the positive side.

Moto E Gen.4 Plus

The Moto E4 Plus is an excellent workhorse from a trusted brand that costs the right amount of money and has everything to satisfy the needs of the average user. The smartphone is based on the MediaTek MT6737 processor, equipped with a 5.5-inch HD screen, 16/3 GB of memory, 13/5 MP cameras, an NFC chip and, most importantly, a 5000 mAh battery. Among the shortcomings of the E4 Plus, we highlight the solid body weight of 200 grams, as a result of which it cannot be recommended for purchase by fragile girls.

Moto E Gen.4 Plus

Ulefone Power 2

The smartphone has a stylish design, whose front panel is reminiscent of devices from Meizu (the multifunctional Home key is also present here), and the back side is the flagship HTC 10. The 6050 mAh battery is the main trump card of the Ulefone Power 2, it is enough for 3 days of active use of the gadget. The performance and display are typical for inexpensive Chinese phones, but the cameras are terrible, so lovers of mobile photography should avoid this smartphone.

Fly FS554 Power Plus

While most of the smartphones in our rating will have to be ordered somewhere and waited, the Fly FS554 Power Plus can be purchased at almost any local cellular phone store. At the same time, for a price of 10 thousand rubles, this is a very decent smartphone with a 5.5” FullHD display, MediaTek MT6737T chipset, 16/2 GB of expandable memory, 13/5 MP cameras and a 5000 mAh battery. You can take it with confidence.

Fly FS554 Power Plus

Frameless Chinese smartphones

Chinese manufacturers have never forgotten that a modern smartphone is not only powerful hardware and a capacious battery, but also an image accessory. The last factor is directly related to the design of the device, so we present to your attention a rating of frameless new Chinese smartphones for the 2017 model year.

Leagoo KIICAA Mix

KIICAA Mix is a representative of a countless group of smartphones that copy the design of the flagship Xiaomi Mi Mix. At a price several times lower than the original, it can offer an almost identical design and relatively good hardware (5.5’’ FHD display from Sharp, MT6750T chipset, 32/3 GB of memory, 13+2 and 13 MP cameras, 2930 mAh battery). The pitfalls are the location of the main speaker, which causes poor audibility of the interlocutor, and the absence of brightness/proximity sensors and a 3.5 mm jack, while the adapter required to connect headphones is not included. However, taking into account the low price of 6 tr. it's not critical.

Leagoo KIICAA Mix

Doogee Mix

Doogee Mix is a smartphone from the same opera. It outperforms its Leagoo counterpart due to rich equipment (there is a case and a film for the screen), more memory - 64/4 GB, and a slightly more capacious 3380 mAh battery. However, in terms of software, everything is not so rosy here - the crude Doogee Mix firmware, with numerous bugs, can cause quite a few headaches for the owner of the device, so before buying a device you should weigh the pros and cons.

UMIDIGI Crystal

UMIDIGI Crystal stands out from its analogues with its interface - it runs on an almost pure Android 7.0 shell, as a result of which using this smartphone is much more pleasant than other Chinese ones with trashy OS. The characteristics are also not bad - MT6750T, 64/4 GB of memory, IZGO screen from Sharp and dual camera. For a price of 100 dollars - not bad.

Bluboo S1

Bluboo S1 is positioned as a more expensive device, which is evident in the build quality and materials - the smartphone body is covered with glass not only on the front, but also on the back. The heart of the smart phone is the powerful Helio P25 processor, memory – 64/4 GB. Owners of the Bluboo S1 attribute weak cameras and quiet sound from the main speaker to its disadvantages, while its advantages include a cool display and stylish appearance.

Maze Alpha

Maze Alpha is the best frameless Chinese smartphone that can be bought in the price segment of about 10 thousand rubles. This is a well-built device with a high-quality 6-inch screen and good performance.

It also outperforms its analogues due to its autonomy; the 4000 mAh battery lasts for an average of two days of using a smartphone. When purchasing, you should take into account the considerable weight of the smartphone, as much as 225 grams.

Chinese phablets

We consider the best smartphones with a large screen diagonal in 2017 to be:

Xiaomi Mi Note 3

The third generation of Mi Note from Xiaomi has evolved from an uncompromising flagship, which was Mi Note 2, into an affordable smartphone with a large screen (5.5’’ FHD) and average specifications. The phablet is equipped with a Snapdragon 660 processor, 6 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB storage. The camera resolution is 12+12 MP and 16 MP (front camera), battery capacity is 3500 mAh. This is a good choice if the Mi Max 2 seems like a huge shovel to you, but you don’t want to overpay for the flagship bells and whistles of the Mi6.

Xiaomi Mi Note 3

Honor 8 Pro

Another smartphone from Huawei in our rating, which is hard to find fault with even if you wanted to. The characteristics are excellent for the price - 5.7'' 2K display, top-end Kirin 960 processor, 64/6 GB of memory with a slot for a flash drive, dual 12+12 MP camera, 4000 mAh battery with fast charging, NFC, IR sensor, USB -C. With a price of just over 30 thousand rubles, this is an excellent smart device that can become an alternative to any flagship.

Meizu M3 Max

M3 Max is not the latest model from Meizu, which has been successfully selling for a year now and will remain relevant for a long time. The smartphone is equipped with a 6-inch screen and a Helio P10 processor with 64/3 GB of memory. This is a gadget without any special complaints, which is simply a pleasure to use due to its excellent build and perfectly polished Flyme OS, which in terms of speed and smoothness of operation will give odds to the operating system of any Chinese smartphone.

Leagoo M8 Pro

An ultra-budget phablet with a 5.7-inch display and modest specifications (MT6737, 16/2 GB of memory, 13/8 MP cameras, 3500 mAh battery). When buying an M8 Pro in China, you can buy it for 5 thousand rubles, and you won’t find anything better for that money. The smartphone works quite quickly and stably, supports LTE, recognizes external devices in USB OTG mode, and has a fairly loud multimedia speaker. Thanks to the massive metal frame, the M8 Pro is extremely durable, it confidently survives falls from great heights, and in general is perfect for the role of a child’s first smartphone or a gadget for heavy-duty use.

LeEco Le Max 2

After the LeEco fiasco on the Russian market, you can only buy their smartphones on AlieExpress, and if this doesn’t scare you, then Le Max 2, in terms of price/performance ratio, will be an ideal choice. For less than 15 thousand, you can get a smartphone with a 5.7-inch 2K display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 64/6 GB of memory, 21 and 8 MP cameras, and a 3100 mAh battery. Le Max 2 runs any game at maximum graphics settings, takes good photographs, records 4K video, but does not have a 3.5mm jack or NFC chip.

The most expensive Chinese smartphones

The top most expensive Chinese smartphones traditionally include products from the most famous brands from the Middle Kingdom. Their technical characteristics are truly impressive, so these popular phablets are able to compete with devices from famous world manufacturers. We present to our readers a rating of the most expensive smartphones from China.

Mi Mix 2

Mi Mix 2 is a continuation of the cult smartphone from Xiaomi, which became the reason for the appearance on the market of all the frameless crafts we are considering above. The second generation Mi Mix increased autonomy, received an adequate earpiece, and retained top-end technical characteristics. This is an excellent fashion smartphone that evokes the same “wow” effect that can be bought for 30-35 thousand rubles.

Meizu Pro 7

The flagship from Meizu does not sport the now fashionable frameless design, but takes a different approach - an additional screen on the rear panel, which displays notifications and other useful information, including images when using the main camera for selfies.

The smartphone is great in terms of photo capabilities, sound quality and software, but loses to other flagships in screen quality and lack of NFC. The latter is a serious setback for a top-end smartphone, but it’s worth considering that Meizu Pro 7 is cheaper than its analogues – 20-25 thousand rubles.

Axon M

Another unusual smartphone is a transformer from ZTE, which consists of two panels with 5.2-inch FHD screens, which when folded out forms a kind of tablet. The Axon M is equipped with a not-so-top-end Snapdragon 820 processor, but it does have a dedicated AKM4962 DAC, which makes the smartphone sound amazing in headphones. Only the battery raises serious questions; its capacity is a modest 3180 mAh, which is frankly not enough for the active use of a gadget with two screens. Price: $725.

Razer Phone

The parade of unusual Chinese continues with the Razer Phone - the first “gaming” smartphone on the market, which is aimed at an audience of gamers. The gadget is equipped with a powerful Snapdragon 835 processor, 64/8 GB of memory, stereo speakers, a dedicated 24-bit DAC and an amplifier for each speaker. But the main feature of this smart device is the 5.7-inch display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, which provides an extremely smooth picture when playing any content. The Razer Phone costs $700.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro

Let's move on from unusual models to real premium ones. Huawei Mate 10 Pro is the most expensive Chinese flagship of 2017. The smartphone, priced at 800 euros, is crammed with everything possible - more powerful hardware, a 6-inch 2K OLED display, dust and moisture protection, stereo speakers, cameras from Leica and, what the manufacturer himself highlights, a separate processor for implementing artificial intelligence, which gives Huawei's business phablet many additional functions, such as the ability to recognize objects in the frame, speed up the launch of applications and allows the smartphone to adapt to the habits of its owner

Huawei Mate 10 Pro

Inexpensive Chinese smartphones

For those users who do not need the “wow effect”, as well as people who do not believe that “a good show off is more expensive than money”, budget models from many manufacturers are aimed. Despite their low cost, many of them are well equipped and functional. So, a rating of inexpensive, but productive and high-quality devices.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A

Chinese manufacturers know a lot about budget smartphones, and Xiaomi has succeeded in this niche almost better than all other brands. Redmi Note 5A is a balanced smartphone with the best camera in the price segment under $100. It does not shine with performance (Snapdragon 425 percent), but it does not have any obvious weaknesses that could spoil the experience of owning this device. Among the advantages are separate slots for 2 SIM cards and a flash drive, the presence of an infrared port, and the absence of throttling, which is typical of most cheap smart phones, under load. We recommend for purchase.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A

Meizu M6

Many will say that budget smartphones from Meizu have not changed for a couple of years, and they will be right in their own way. However, are these changes necessary if the company has found that golden mean in terms of quality and economy, making its smartphones always a pleasure to use? Meizu M6 is made in a metal case, has a good 5.2-inch display, a good camera and normal battery life. With an issue price of $100, this is a very good choice, which will be head and shoulders above any basement China.

ZTE Blade A6

Inexpensive smartphones from ZTE are widely represented in domestic cellular equipment stores, so you can most likely buy the Blade A6 at your place of residence. It will stand out from its neighbors in the showcase due to its good performance, thanks to the Snapdragon 435 processor and 32/3 GB of memory, good battery life (5000 mAh battery) and a high-quality metal case. But the smart phone itself is not without its drawbacks - almost all of its owners complain about the device heating up under load, and in terms of cameras it is noticeably inferior to the same Xiaomi and Meizu.

Huawei Honor 6C Pro

Huawei is also sold at most retailers, and when buying a smartphone offline, Honor 6C Pro can be a priority choice. The gadget has standard characteristics for its price - MT6750 processor, 32/3 GB of memory, 13 and 8 MP cameras, 3000 mAh battery, metal case with a fingerprint scanner. The smartphone is made very well both in terms of build quality and software, and therefore no problems should arise during its use.

Leagoo M8

If you need something “cheap and cheerful”, take the Leagoo M8. On Aliexpress, a smartphone costs 4,000 rubles, and this is the best you can get for that price. The only thing that limits this device is the lack of support for LTE networks. But it handles 3G well, and you simply don’t expect to see such a decent screen and cameras, along with a somewhat rough but reliable build, and a loud multimedia speaker in a smartphone for $75.

A frameless display, along with a dual camera module, became the main trends of the past 2016 in the mobile phone segment. And there is every reason to believe that the desire of manufacturers to reduce or completely get rid of side frames in their smartphones will only grow in the near future.

In the debate about the practicality of such a design refinement, many copies have already been broken, and the final decision on this matter is up to you. We have prepared a selection of 10 devices, which presents the best frameless smartphones of 2017.

Mi Mix is the loudest new product from Xiaomi in the past year, which is the apotheosis of the desire for framelessness, which current technologies can only achieve. This is a conceptual smartphone worth more than 50 thousand rubles, in which the display occupies 91.3% of the front panel.

The main material in the design of Mi Mix is ceramic. The screen diagonal is 6.4’’, it is an IPS matrix with Quad HD resolution, providing excellent image quality. In terms of performance, the device also occupies a leading position: it is powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. The camera uses a 16 MP module with f/2.0 aperture.

In addition to the advantage of a futuristic design, Mi Mix also has a number of disadvantages associated with its framelessness. The ergonomics of the new product raise a number of questions, and it is not entirely convenient to use. It is slippery due to the ceramic case, so you have to carry the phone in a case, which spoils all the aesthetic charm. Ceramic is also the reason why the smartphone gets noticeably warm under load. However, for those who want to hold the technology of the future in their hands, it is difficult to find an alternative to Mi Mix.

If comparing Mi Mix with other flagships is not entirely correct - this device is too unusual, then the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is a flagship in the full sense of the word. The S7 Edge is good in everything, it has a powerful Exynos 8890 processor with 4 RAM with support for memory cards, an ideal 5.5’’ Super AMOLED 2K display, and a camera, which at the beginning of 2017 is considered one of the best on the market.

IP68 protection has also returned to the S7 Edge - this is the only flagship on the market that is not afraid of water and dust. The 7 does not disappoint in terms of autonomy; it uses a 3600 mAh battery, which, paired with an energy-efficient AMOLED screen, provides a reliable one and a half to two days of smartphone operation.

The S7 Edge has no downsides as such. Let us only note that the ceramic body of the device does not survive a fall on hard surfaces, and repairing the seven is extremely expensive. Replacing the screen alone costs 25 thousand rubles.

Another flagship in our selection is the frameless Nubia Z11 from ZTE. This is the narrowest metal smartphone with a screen diagonal of 5.5 inches, and the thickness of the side edges is truly minimal. The device uses a Full HD IPS screen, a Snapdragon 820 processor with 4/6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory, and there is a slot for Micro SD cards.

The Z11 has an excellent camera with optical image stabilization and sapphire glass optics, but its main advantage is the sound - the smartphone is equipped with a dedicated AKM4376 DAC that supports Hi-Fi+ audio output. The Z11 can fully replace a portable player; it produces simply amazing sound quality in headphones.

The only thing we can find fault with is the not very capacious battery – only 3000 mAh, which is enough for 5-6 hours of screen operation. But the situation is saved by the support of fast charging technology, which allows you to fully charge your smartphone in 60 minutes.

Magic is a smartphone released by Huawei in honor of the anniversary of the Honor line, which turned 3 years old last December. In addition to the unusual, completely symmetrical design, the device is notable for its software, which uses elements of artificial intelligence. The smartphone is able to analyze the user's habits and adapt to his needs. How well this is implemented in practice remains to be seen, since Honor Magic will only go on sale at the beginning of 2017.

Honor Magic is also good in terms of hardware. It is based on the Kirin 950 chipset (analogous to the 820 dragon), has on board 64/4 GB of memory, a Quad HD AMOLED display covered with 3D glass, and 12 and 8 MP cameras. The new product uses a unique 2900 mAh graphene battery, which is Huawei’s own design, which has an increased service life and can be charged up to 70% in 20 minutes. There is only one drawback - the lack of a slot for a memory card.

At the intersection of top brand smartphones and budget smartphones, which we will consider in the second half of the article, there is Xperia XA - a frameless device from SONY for 18 thousand rubles. The design of the XA is really not bad; it is made of matte plastic with metal side frames. Thanks to its elongated shape, the smartphone fits perfectly in the hand.

But traditionally, SONY is not modest with the price tag for its devices. The Xperia XA raises a number of questions when considering its price/functionality ratio: the smartphone runs on a weak Helio P10 processor, has 16/2 GB of memory, an IPS screen with a resolution of 1280*720 pixels and a modest 2300 mAh battery.

The advantages of the Xperia XA are a good camera, the presence of separate slots for SIM and Micro-SD, as well as its appearance. Cons: Poor performance, short battery life, and quiet main speaker. We can only recommend this device to fans of the Japanese company.

Frameless smartphones are also available from Chinese manufacturers, who traditionally dominate the budget segment. An interesting option is the Elephone S7, which looks almost like a complete copy of the Galaxy S7 Edge.

However, this is not a fake, but an independent smartphone with very good technical characteristics. The device has a 5.5’’ Full HD IPS display covered with Gorilla Glass 3, 13 and 5 MP cameras, a 3000 mAh battery and a Helio X20 processor. The smartphone is available in three modifications - with 16/2, 32/3 and 64/4 memory on board.

For $170, which the S7 now costs, this is a very good choice for those who want to purchase a fashion smartphone. The Elephone S7 has a cool design, decent performance and a good screen, the only drawbacks are weak dynamics and mediocre battery life.

Super Edge from UMi is a metal smartphone with small side frames priced at $180. This is a fairly large and weighty device, the thickness of which is almost 9 mm and the weight is 190 grams. This Chinese device uses a 5.5” screen from SHARP, it is a good IPS matrix with Full HD resolution.

The performance for the money is decent; the smartphone runs on an 8-core Helio P10 chip, has 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory and a Micro-SD slot. The resolution of the main camera is as much as 21 MP, the front one is 8 MP. Low-light performance is mediocre, but you can get some great photos during the day.

The only complaint about the gadget is the lack of an oleophobic coating on the display, which is why it collects a lot of fingerprints. In all other respects, this is a very decent and inexpensive smartphone.

Ulefone Future's characteristics are almost completely identical to the smartphone from UMI discussed above. It has a similar 5.5’’ Full HD screen, Helio P10, and 32/4 GB of memory. The differences are only in more modest cameras - 15 and 5 MP, but the Future is equipped with a two-tone flash.

Among the advantages of this model, we highlight the use of pure Android as an operating system. So if you want to get an inexpensive frameless smartphone that is not littered with proprietary shells from the manufacturer, this is a very good option. Price – from 160 dollars.

ZUK Edge

Edge is a very beautiful, balanced and relatively inexpensive smartphone from ZUK, a sub-brand of the well-known Lenovo company. The device is powered by the top-end Snapdragon 821, has 64/4 GB of memory, a 5.5-inch FHD IPS screen, 13/5 MP cameras and a 3100 mAh battery. Due to the almost complete absence of side frames and the minimal thickness of the top frame, the Edge is compact and much more convenient to use than other smartphones with a similar-sized display.

The smartphone has essentially one drawback - it is not aimed at the European market, which is why you can only buy it in China with the appropriate firmware (without Google services and with very clumsy Russification). But if flashing your smartphone is a common thing for you, then this gadget will be an excellent purchase. Among the features, we also note the ceramic body, which readily collects fingerprints, and noticeable heating under load, which does not allow you to fully reveal all the gaming abilities of the 821 dragon, however, any ZUK Edge toys can be pulled at maximum speed without any problems. The price of a smartphone on AliExpress starts from 20 thousand rubles.

Galaxy S8

And let’s finish our rating with one of the main new products of 2017 - the Galaxy S8. There are not so many smartphones whose appearance causes a wow effect, and the S8 is definitely one of them. In addition to the chic design, the new Samsung flagship has a top-end screen (5.8" or 6.2" AMOLED with 2K resolution), the most powerful processor to date (Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895), cool cameras (12/8MP with f/1.7 aperture) and excellent battery life (up to 18 hours of continuous video playback).

There are no particular shortcomings in the eight, they only complain about crude software optimization, due to which, with more powerful hardware, the S8 is inferior in performance to the same iPhone 7, but this problem will be eliminated with future firmware updates. And if you have a lot of money and want to buy the coolest Android smartphone on the market, then the Galaxy S8 is your choice.
