Change the touch screen. Replacement of touch glasses and screens on cell phones. Removing the old display

Replacing the touchscreen on a tablet with your own hands in 20 minutes.

Here is a photo report on how to quickly change the touchscreen on a tablet. This instruction Fits most tablets on the market.

The most common problem with tablets is the failure of the touchscreen (sensor) as a result of mechanical damage.

Somehow I had the same problem. The tablet was bought for the child and exactly a week later it was safely stepped on. There was no limit to my grief! My daughter is in tears, my wife is in shock, and I am on the run to the workshops)))

Having run around all the so-called “workshops”, I was unpleasantly surprised that no one was taking on this repair. Only one “master” offered to TRY to change it for 850 UAH. Now I too was plunged into a state of shock. In general, the decision was made to buy a new tablet.

Three weeks later, the touchscreen was broken and on it...

Thinking that buying new tablets every month would ruin me, I decided to do the repairs myself.

I bought a new 10.1-inch touchscreen in an online store for only 250 UAH. If you are interested in where you bought it, ask by email or in the comments, I will answer.

Delivery took just a day.

And so I received it

Replacing the touchscreen on a tablet with your own hands. Instructions

Use a mediator or plastic card to move around the perimeter of the tablet, unlatching the latches

Attention: There is no need to insert the card deep so as not to damage the cables

Carefully remove back cover, remove the speakers from it and put it aside so that it doesn’t interfere

You don’t have to do this, but for safety reasons, it’s better to unsolder the positive wire from the battery on the board. It is usually red

Now disconnect the touchscreen cable from the board

To do this, you need to move the black bar up and the cable will easily come out of the connector

Now, without removing the films from the new touchscreen, we connect it to this connector to check its functionality. Having soldered the battery wire, turn on the tablet and check how the sensor responds to touches.

If all is well, then unsolder the battery again and disconnect the sensor cable.

We won’t disassemble anything else in the tablet, but will “pull off” the touchscreen from the front side. To do this, use the same plastic card to pry up the sensor and, swiping it around the perimeter, peel it off.

Note: Everything will be much easier and simpler if you heat the sensor around the perimeter with a hairdryer.

Attention! Be careful not to cut yourself, it's glass after all!

Removing the touchscreen is not as difficult as it seems at first glance.

After dismantling the sensor, use a soft brush to remove debris from the display and clean the perimeter of any remaining glue, if there is any remaining.

We take a new sensor, remove the film and paper from it from the tape. We pull the cable through the slot in the tablet body and carefully attach the new sensor to the display. If the corners meet and everything is level, then lightly press the touchscreen.

Note: You don't need to apply too much pressure to crack the sensor. It will stick well anyway.

We connect the cable of the new touchscreen, solder the battery, put the speakers in place and put on the back cover.

Here is the result of the work

There is nothing particularly difficult about replacing a touchscreen with your own hands.

Turn on the tablet and enjoy the work done.

P.S. Time is running fast. Very quickly... During this year I changed the touchscreen on this tablet again. Fortunately, I now have a lot of experience

I also changed the sensor for neighbors, friends and just acquaintances.

So, you shouldn’t be afraid of this procedure and, feeling confident in your arms, legs, head and, in short, everywhere, you can calmly take on this work

Here is another victim of careless handling. Here they haven’t even removed the film from the store yet, but the touchscreen has already been destroyed

In general, you won’t be able to stay without a job.

Parts for new models are much more expensive than for older gadgets. The average price of a touch screen is 800 - 2,000 rubles. In addition, many large manufacturers sell sensors in a set with a matrix, called a module (touchscreen + matrix). The cost of a matrix for a tablet varies from 1,500 rubles. Therefore, the price of such a kit is from 2,500 (the price of the touchscreen + the price of the matrix). In service centers, for replacing a matrix or touchscreen they charge from 500 rubles to 2,000, depending on the complexity of the work.

How to replace the touchscreen?

Modern smartphones Despite their multifunctionality, they are rather fragile devices. And, of course, the most fragile part of every smartphone is its touchscreen. In this regard, we will consider replacing this part. We will consider the procedure using a smartphone as an example. HTC One X.

Disassembling the smartphone

First we'll look at step by step instructions for disassembling the model.

Disconnecting the old display

To replace your HTC display, you first need to remove the SIM card tray. This is done easily and naturally. But in order to remove the display, you will need act very carefully. Take some tool that could pry off the touchscreen - it could be a nail file or any other similar object. It is better not to use a screwdriver - the main thing here is that the tip of the tool easily fits into the gap between the display and the case, otherwise you risk damaging the elements of the smartphone. The tool must be moved around the perimeter of the display, and pry it off as carefully as possible, without jerking. It's okay if you have to tinker. Still, do not forget that you are dealing with a fragile element.

Preparing to remove the motherboard

To complete this step, we can no longer do without a screwdriver. Motherboard HTC smartphone One X is secured with six screws. We unscrew them all.

Disconnect the display cable and antenna connector

To continue with the second step, we need to disconnect the display cable and connector. This is also a fairly simple step, but it needs to be done very carefully. Take small tweezers, preferably without sharp edges, and carefully pick up the black film that is glued over the metal part. After this, carefully bend it back. Under no circumstances should the film be torn!

To disconnect the antenna connector we will again need tweezers. If you place the smartphone with the camera facing up, you can see a long black wire at the right end, the end of which is fixed at the point of contact between the battery and the motherboard. Gently pull this wire with tweezers and move it to the side.

Removing the motherboard

At the top end there is a small fastener that holds motherboard. You need to carefully remove it with tweezers and do the same with the large fastener on the left side. After this, lift the battery (do not tear it off!) and disconnect the cables underneath it. They look like flat wires. You may not be able to remove them all at once, so grab the tool you used in the first step. Pry up the motherboard and turn it over along with the battery. Do not pull the cables under any circumstances if they do not give way! Remember that extreme care is required when working with smartphone parts.

Dismantling the antenna cable

Use a screwdriver to unscrew the screw and remove the cable (blue part). Be careful with the antenna itself as the wiring is very fragile. You should bend the train which is located under the part, back. After that, turn it face up and warm it with a hairdryer. Warm the assembly evenly to make the display easier to detach.

Removing the old display

We remove the display with the same file or its equivalent. We do this carefully and without sudden movements.

Installing the display and assembling the smartphone

Now that the disassembly is complete, it will not be difficult for us to figure out how to change the touchscreen. If there is a protective film on it, then install the display along with it.

Using the HTC One X as an example, we looked at how to replace the touchscreen. As you can see, this is a rather difficult procedure and if you decide to do it yourself, remember that the main thing here is accuracy and precision.

Quite recently, an unpleasant situation happened to me - my old Acer Liquid Mini completely stopped responding to any commands and touches. This, of course, upset me, to put it mildly, however, before taking it to the service center and preparing to part with a couple of extra thousand rubles, I decided to “scour” the Internet and find out - maybe somehow I’ll be able to resolve this issue on my own, without extra cash expenses. And imagine how happy I was when I finally found a way out of the situation.

As it turned out later, it was not the screen itself that failed, but only part of it - the touchscreen, which is responsible for entering information, responding to finger presses. Therefore, it was not absolutely necessary to change the entire screen along with the matrix; you just had to “screw in” a new touchscreen!

And, after a little effort, I carried out this “surgical” operation on my own, keeping it within a very reasonable amount - 1,500 rubles, which is exactly how much a new touchscreen cost in an online store. For comparison, in any city service center, not to mention official representative offices, such repairs will be done for no less than 5,000 rubles. The savings are truly significant.

So is there any reason to try replacing the touchscreen yourself? Unfortunately, I got carried away by the process and the photo of the report as such did not work out, but I tried to describe everything in as much detail as possible in words.

To begin with, it’s worth figuring out what exactly needs to be repaired or changed. For any screen problems there are very simple instructions.

  1. We have
    • Broken/intact glass
    • The image is still there

Diagnosis: the touch screen itself needs to be replaced.

  2. We have
    • Broken glass
    • There is an image

Diagnosis: To be replaced protective glass along with the touchskin. Unfortunately, there is no way to replace the glass alone, because on any communicator the glass and the touchscreen always go together.

  3. We have
    • Undamaged glass
    • Smart responds to all touches

Diagnosis: In this situation, it is necessary to change the display, which is responsible for adequately displaying the picture.

  4. We have
    • Broken/whole glass
    • The smart phone does not respond to any touches
    • There is no image or it is very distorted

Diagnosis: This is the most complete set of troubles that can happen to a smartphone. In this case, you need to change both the display and the touchscreen along with the protective glass.

Since we do not advise anyone to deal with replacing the matrix itself, such a task is intended only for professionals who have considerable experience in this, since the likelihood of mistakes on the part of beginners during this operation is simply catastrophically high, we will only tell you how to replace the touchscreen in at home with your own hands. With proper skill, anyone can handle this.

Naturally, we warn you before doing this - wrong actions can cause serious damage to your smartphone, so if you are not sure, it is better to spend a little more money and even replace the touchscreen at a service center. If you have straight hands and decide to do everything yourself, the responsibility is on you.

To begin with, it’s worth understanding what the touchscreen itself is. Some people unknowingly call all the elements of the screen with this word, however, in reality, the touchscreen is only its top part– namely, a touch film applied to the glass under which the display is located.

In order to replace the touchscreen on your smartphone you will need the following tools:

  • Soldering iron with necessary materials– solder and flux (preferably a soldering station)
  • Blade or very sharp knife (a blade is preferable in any case)

Moreover, a soldering iron and related materials will be needed only if you are dealing with a touchskin that is connected to the matrix not by the usual click of a cable into the board connector, but by soldering.

If the screen is connected by soldering, you first need to unsolder the old touchscreen from the inside of the screen. The main thing is to set the soldering iron to a moderate temperature and act quickly so as not to overheat the soldering area, thus also ruining the matrix.

The next step is the first point for screens without soldering, and the second for those that require a soldering iron to work with.

Here we need to disconnect the touchscreen from the matrix. To do this, take a sharp blade and cut off the glass together with the touch as carefully as possible. Make sure that during this process you do not touch the crystals of the matrix, otherwise damage cannot be avoided, and after that you will have to buy a new display!

A little tip: to make this process easier, you can put your smartphone under a regular table lamp and wait a little. Light heating will soften the glue and make it easier to cut.

Next, remove the protective film from the new touchscreen and carefully install it in place. Then, depending on the screen, we either solder the touchscreen cable to the matrix, or simply snap the connection between them (in order not to climb under the “hood” again later, make sure that you secure the touchscreen to the matrix as efficiently as possible).

The most important thing in the whole process is to very carefully cut off the touchscreen with the screen, because it can easily crack and damage the matrix, and also to handle the touchscreen cable carefully, because it is very easy to break, and then you will have to spend money on a new touch again.

That's it, the job is done! Congratulations, you can enjoy your new working smartphone!

For those who do not want to change the touchscreen themselves, you can simply buy it and take it along with your smart phone to service center. This way, at least you can avoid extra charges, and you only pay for the work.

I told them what a touchscreen is, why it is needed, and promised to write an article on how to replace the touchscreen on a cell phone. In my practice, I most often had to change the panel on the Samsung S5230 White cell phone, I don’t know why, but for almost every user it stopped working after six months or a year. The reason is unknown, maybe the sensor itself is of poor design, maybe its fastening in the phone causes failures, or it’s just a coincidence. So: yes faulty phone Samsung S5230 (judging by the symptoms of the phone (it does not respond to touches), it is the touchscreen that has failed), there is a digitizer, also known as a touchscreen, purchased on ebay.com (the kit included a tool for replacing the panel). All together for 128 rubles.

From the tools for work we will need:

  • Phillips screwdriver, bottle opener (all included)
  • Hair dryer
  • Toothbrush (for cleaning)

We unscrew the six screws, where we put them away

Insert the bottle opener into the slot. Gradually moving it around the perimeter, we achieve half of the body

In the photo below there is an LCD display in a tin case; it will fall out of the case after we peel off the touchscreen. Here you need to disconnect the cables from the connectors.

Then we proceed to the actual dismantling of the touchscreen. It is glued to the body with double-sided tape, and the display is glued to it, so as soon as we disconnect the panel, the display will fall out. Make sure that the table is clean, and immediately put the display in some clean plastic bag or box. Try not to touch the display with your hands and keep it away from dust and dirt. It is very difficult to clean it later; some speck of dust or grain of sand will definitely appear. To make removing the touchscreen easier, warm it up with a hairdryer. Next, we try to tear it off with an opener, moving it around the perimeter; don’t be afraid to bend the panel. Firstly, we no longer need it, and secondly, it bends quite well without breaking.
