Assembly

The body of the tube is actually completely plastic, with the exception of the inserts and edgings of the functional elements - they are made of metal. The front panel is covered with a mixture of glass and plastic, which we have already seen many times in more than one Prestigio smartphone.

The build quality is quite good - no play or noticeable gaps were noticed. Plastic doesn't creak.

Since it is glossy, it is doubly nice that it comes with a case with a flip-up lid. If your 5400 DUO is attached to it, long-term continuous operation will not be accompanied by any discomfort. By the way, the fastening in the case is reliable. During the test, the smartphone did not crash out of the test even once.

Ergonomics of functional elements

The front panel is divided between the display, three classic touch buttons slightly below it, as well as a slot for the earpiece, a front camera eye plus light/proximity sensors.

The back panel of the handset is completely covered by the cover of the battery pack, which houses the eye of the main 8 MP camera, a dual LED flash, and a speakerphone. The logo and name of the manufacturing company are also located here.

Inspecting the right side edge, the user will find on it the power on/off button for the smartphone.

From the opposite end there is access to a paired volume control key.

On the top edge there is a classic 3.5 mm jack, as well as a micro-USB port.

But on the opposite side there are no buttons or connectors.

Of course, we couldn’t do without a certain grain, but I can’t say that it critically affects the display of data.

The viewing angles both vertically and horizontally can be called quite good.

If you work with a smartphone in conditions where the sun hits the panel, then you will not be able to do without the extinction of the displayed information.

The sensitivity of the display is at a high level - submenu icons “respond” without hesitation when you touch them. Supports touch control using three fingers simultaneously.

Memory

Of the 4 GB of officially declared memory, the user can work with a little more than three: 1.4 GB - phone memory and a little more than a gigabyte - built-in FLASH drive.

You can expand the “standard” volume using memory cards up to 32 GB inclusive. Hot-swappable drives are supported.

Speakers

Two separate speakers - internal or conversational, as well as speakerphone.

I liked the capabilities of both the first and second. Yes, there is, of course, no semblance of volume or extreme purity here. On the other hand, there is no significant distortion, and the volume is good for talking even on a noisy avenue, and an incoming call can be heard even if the phone is in one room and the user is in an adjacent one.

Battery and autonomy

The capacity of the removable battery is 1700 mAh.

Testing was carried out using the “Battery” utility. Below we take a look at the results.

Equipment and performance

The smartphone is running operating system Android 4.1.2 out of the box.

Design and ergonomics

We have at our disposal a modification of the MultiPhone 5400 DUO in a white case, which looks very bright and elegant. The edges back cover slightly smoothed so that the device fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. At the same time, the smartphone does not slip out of your hands. It's all about comfortable sizes.

Almost all surfaces are glossy, but due to the white color of the case, fingerprints can only be seen here on the display. The perimeter of the smartphone is surrounded by a spectacular silver insert, which makes the device body even more elegant.

All manipulations on the touch screen can be easily performed with one hand. Reaching any hardware button with your fingers is also not a problem.

On the side faces the manufacturer placed the usual volume control and power/unlock keys. Both connectors are located at the top end. These are standard audio output and micro USB.

On the back there is a fairly large 8-megapixel camera lens and a dual flash. Here you can also see the usual manufacturer’s logo and the slots for the multimedia speaker, covered with mesh.

The included case plays a significant role in the overall perception of the smartphone. It is made of white leather and looks amazing. If anyone can make such accessories that would not spoil appearance smartphone, it’s the manufacturer itself. The case is made in such a way that there is no need to remove the device from it during operation. Just use the hinged lid.

Special thanks to the manufacturer for the high-quality complete headset, made in the same white color as the smartphone itself. These are comfortable and stylish in-ear headphones that provide good isolation due to the rubber tips. And the flat headset wire will not get tangled as often as a regular one.

MultiPhone 5400 DUO pleased me with its good build, lack of squeaks (despite the collapsible body) and great design. In white color, this device can be safely recommended as a gift for a wife, girlfriend, daughter or niece.

Screen

The display of the MultiPhone 5400 DUO can be characterized by the phrase “small but bold.” With a diagonal of only 4 inches, which let’s be objective, is not that much, the screen is very clear and contrasty. Photos and pictures on such a display look impeccable, although it is a regular TFT and not an IPS matrix.

The menu icons are also bright, and the inscriptions are easy to read in any lighting. And this despite the fact that the resolution here is only 800 x 480 pixels. Not a lot, but since the diagonal is small, the screen does not suffer from pixelation.

Horizontal viewing angles are maximum, but vertical colors are inverted. However, for a smartphone for 1200 hryvnia, the display is excellent.

Processor and performance

MultiPhone 5400 DUO is equipped with a 4-core ARM Cortex A5 processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz. The amount of RAM is a modest 512 MB. There is no need to expect that heavy games will run on such hardware. But good racing simulators run smoothly. And even something more serious. For example, we managed to run even such a gaming monster as Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour on the 5400 DUO.

In the AnTuTu test, the device scored a predictable 10,604 points.

Interface and OS

The smartphone uses Android 4.1 as an OS. Jelly Bean. Not the best a new version operating system, but who said that this handsome guy was created for geeks?

As in others Prestigio smartphones, the manufacturer offers the user a number of pre-installed applications, including such useful things as a book and text reader, a couple of games and Navitel maps.

Otherwise, the manufacturer decided to practically not change the Android interface with any proprietary add-ons.
Among the additional multimedia functions, we note the FM receiver, which traditionally only works with a connected headset that acts as an antenna. You can listen to the radio in speakerphone mode, but you will still need to connect a headset.

Camera

Although the camera in this smartphone is not the main function, in practice it will not be difficult to get a high-quality photo. Especially in good weather. However, even photos taken indoors turn out well.

The camera resolution is 8 megapixels, autofocus works quite quickly. The maximum resolution for video recording is 720p.

Examples of photographs (reduced to 900 pixels in width):

Autonomy

Away from outlets, the MultiPhone 5400 DUO works properly for one to two days, depending on the user’s appetite for parts additional functions. The standard battery has a capacity of 1700 mAh, which is not bad for a smartphone with a 4-inch display. In our situation, the device “lived” without recharging for a day and a half. Used music player, camera, constant connection to the network via Wi-Fi, mail in Push mode, some games and both SIM slots.

Summary

MultiPhone 5400 DUO is suitable for everyone who is looking for a powerful, functional and inexpensive smartphone, which can be comfortably carried in a skinny jeans pocket or a small cosmetic bag. Quad-core processor, good display, not the worst camera, decent battery life. In addition, the smartphone is relatively inexpensive and looks brand new.
