Updating honor 5a to Android 6. Installing and updating Huawei and Honor firmware. If the update is completed, but some functions do not work or do not work correctly

They provide us with the opportunity to call everyone, dialogue with whom we consider extremely important for ourselves or quite pleasant.

We are grateful to the inventors for the fact that we can make calls in any space without being tied to the city telegraph, as was the case in the recent past.

Neither distance nor time of day will be an obstacle to calling, so it is not surprising that everyone modern man has at its disposal a mobile device, among the varieties of which the Huawei brand phone stands out.

Unfortunately, even this “true friend” can cause small problems, provoke confusion and a negative reaction. This happens when, during operation, it refuses to perform a number of functions.

In this case, you have to solve the problem radically by introducing yourself into its software, namely updating or installing a new firmware version.

What does the new firmware provide?

This can be done by technicians from the service center, but there is also Alternative option, when you yourself study the material, how to flash Huawei phone, after which, rolling up your sleeves and armed with increased attention, carry out all the important manipulations.

The new U8860 firmware will not only make the phone function successfully, but will also open up new unique features that you will be able to appreciate right away.

Please also keep in mind that after flashing the firmware, the update process will not only be successful, but also automatic.

Before starting such a responsible manipulation, it is only important to figure out whether you are interested in official firmware or custom one.

The custom version is an unlicensed product made by craftsmen. However, quite often it is custom firmware that is the most requested, since it is accompanied big amount new opportunities.

Firmware process

So, after making a decision regarding who will flash the smartphone, you can draw up the entire subsequent algorithm of actions.

If you do not want to waste time on such manipulations, so you prefer to give your Huawei phone to service center, prepare some money for the craftsmen who will undertake to flash your mobile unit.

If you decide to learn the basics of such actions yourself, arm yourself with important knowledge of how to reflash a Huawei phone, thoroughly study the algorithm that will install new firmware on your smartphone.

If you are not confident in your abilities, it is better to contact a service center

Algorithm of actions (option No. 1)

Initially, “walk around” the Internet, read the information on thematic forums, and, in the end, find the firmware version that you would like to install on your Huawei phone.

Just remember that you cannot instantly trust all sites offering any product, lest you run into serious problems. You should check the site, read the reviews of other visitors, and only then download the file.

You can download the firmware only after you have indicated the exact model of your Huawei smartphone on the website. Someone else's firmware will harm your mobile device, so you can't treat it with composure.

After downloading, the folder will contain several download files. They all need to be installed one by one; you need to start the process only with a file called “Setup” and the extension “exe”.

Restart your PC, connect your Huawei phone to it using a USB cable, and wait until the bootloader window appears on the PC screen.

Among the list of devices, indicate your smartphone that you want to flash. Go to the “Active Phone” tab, find your specific model there.

In the next window called “Program Boot Loaders”, check the box that gives permission to activate the program responsible for loading the firmware. Below is the “Load Build Contents” button, you should click on it to load important files.

In the window that opens, you need to point to contents.xml, after which the “Download” button will immediately appear, which you need to click. After this, the download process will begin, you just have to wait. However, once completed, the program will ask for permission to format your Huawei phone.

Do not allow this to happen, immediately click on the “Cancel” button, this will prevent the loss of important data.

Now disconnect the USB cable after using the function safe removal devices. Restart your computer and connect your Huawei phone to it again.

A window will appear on the screen again, but this time the program will ask you to enter a password. Practice shows that the word “Huawei” acts as a password. The items will immediately appear in the window, check the box next to each one, and then indicate the path where you saved the firmware file at the initial stage.

After specifying the path and clicking on the “Next” button, another window will appear on the screen again, in which it will be easy to find the “Scan and Download” button. Click on it and just freeze for a while without interfering with the ongoing process.

The Huawei 8860 firmware will start automatically, and you can simply watch its progress on the screen. When the program announces the completion of the process, click on “Ok”, disconnect the phone, and then reboot it. This is the first installation method new version firmware is completed.

Algorithm of actions (option No. 2)

If the first option of the action algorithm is more suitable for flashing a phone with a custom version, then the second is focused exclusively on the official version.

In this case, you must especially carefully follow all the advice of experienced users. First of all, you need to save the firmware only on the smartphone's SD card, on which you first create a folder called “Dload”.

Experts recommend paying attention to such an important circumstance as the capacity of the SD card. Oddly enough, it is recommended that the volume does not exceed four gigabytes. If your SD card is large, it is better to take another one to carry out such manipulations.

The firmware that has the most in this process great importance, must be followed only by the name UPDATE.APP.

During the installation of the firmware, your smartphone may suddenly reboot for you. Be calm, do not interfere with this process, since such reboots are confirmation that the process is carried out without problems and correctly.

If several files are loaded in the “Dload” folder, you will have to install each of them, setting the order.

Next, the process of installing a new firmware version can be carried out in two ways, so it is best to familiarize yourself with both of them, and then choose the one that is clear to the smallest detail and does not raise any questions for you.

So, having chosen the first method, turn off your mobile device, open back cover and remove the battery, then put it back in place. This is not an empty action, so it should not be neglected or ignored. Removing the battery resets the fast boot settings.

Now hold down the buttons responsible for adjusting the volume and press the power button. Release the volume buttons only after you find that the installation process has started successfully.

The second method involves some actions aimed at making changes to the settings of the mobile device. Initially, go to the main menu, go to the “Settings” submenu, then find the “Memory” line. After that, click on the “Software update” section, new options will open in front of you, among which find “SD card update”.

The process starts again automatically, you just have to wait for it to complete successfully.

So, after studying the proposed algorithms, you can make sure that flashing a Huawei smartphone is not difficult. It is only important to remember that even one unwise decision or action can seriously harm your mobile device, so firmware is a case when you should not allow your own imagination, do not rely on personal instinct, but strictly follow the established algorithm. In this case, not only will the process be completed successfully, but you will also be able to enjoy the new features that have appeared.

Firmware is a set of built-in software smartphone, tablet or other digital device necessary for its normal functioning. Huawei smartphones and tablets primarily use firmware based on operating system Android different versions, as well as the proprietary graphical shell Emotion UI.

How can I find out the current firmware version?

To be sure current version software, you need to go to Settings – About phone/About tablet – System update. The version is the three numbers after the letter B.
For example, build number V100R001C00B122 means that you have firmware version 122 installed. Any firmware with numbers greater than these is newer.

More details about firmware versions:

So, let's take a look at the firmware numbering for Huawei smartphones. For example, let's take the firmware from Huawei Ascend Mate - MT1-U06 V100R001C00B907.

As you probably guessed, MT1-U06 is the name of the device. MT1 is the main base, that is, Huawei Mate, U06 is a revision of the device. Devices come in different revisions, in this post I will not go into details of their designation, I will only say that the letter U is UMTS (regular 3G), and the letter C is the CDMA version. Devices with revision MT1-U06 are supplied to Russia.

CxxBxxxSPxx - This is the most important option in the firmware, it shows which version of the “base” the firmware is built on. Bxxx - the numerical class of the base for the SPxx firmware - Service Pack number. The higher Bxxx and SPxx, the newer firmware. (Bxxx has higher priority than SPxx). Cxx is a region of the country.

Next, let's look at the firmware version itself - V100R001C00B907. V100 and R001 are the main version and firmware revision. They change in very rare cases, when there is a big change compared to the previous firmware version (for example, the transition from Android 2.x to 4.x). Even within Android 4.x versions, these values usually do not change.

C00B907 - for most new devices, the value of C00 no longer changes, and in general it means binding to the region. Now the region can be determined in the “Special version” menu item - CUSTC10B907.

So, for smartphones, the Russia region (channel/ru) is CUSTC10. The binding to the region can easily be changed with a special firmware file; in some official firmware there is an update.app file in the cust folder weighing several megabytes or kilobytes, which changes the region to Russia.

B907 is the firmware version itself. I think there is no need to explain that the higher it is, the newer the firmware.

Where can I download the official firmware for my model?

Currently, most smartphones with original software without modified system files The firmware comes via FOTA update (Over-the-Air update). If you received root rights, or you have not yet received the over-the-air update, then you can download the current firmware version yourself from the official website and install it manually.

Please note that by default in Chinese firmware absent Google services Apps, as well as Russian language in the system settings.

After downloading the firmware, use one of the manual installation methods described below.

Firmware installation and update

A local update always deletes user-supplied data and settings from the device's memory. Before you start updating the software using this method,
we recommend doing backup copy all important data for you through the backup application, as well as save other necessary information from the device’s memory (for example, to a memory card).

When updating online or FOTA, user data is saved. Despite this, we also recommend doing backup before that
update.

Before starting the procedure, make sure that your device's battery is charged to at least 60%.

To connect Huawei smartphones and tablets to a PC, you need the HiSuite utility. Install it on your PC before starting the update.

What you need to know before updating your smartphone firmware:

  • The firmware file should be called UPDATE.APP;
  • During a local firmware update, all data on internal memory your smartphone will be deleted!

Attention! Everything you do with your device is at your own peril and risk! No one guarantees the correct operation of the device during and after installing third-party firmware and/or other actions not provided by the manufacturer!

Local firmware update:

Local update is used if innovations are large-scale; in addition, this method restores the system to its original form and
In most cases, it eliminates the possibility of problems with increased battery consumption in the first days after the update.

  1. Copy the UPDATE.APP file from the archive with the firmware to the dload folder on the memory card.
  2. Go to the Settings-Storage-Software Update menu and start the update process (Settings->Storage->Software Upgrade->SD card Upgrade->Confirm->Upgrade).
  3. Wait for the update process to complete.

Forced local update via 3 buttons:

This firmware update mode is an emergency mode and will work even if the device does not boot normally.

  1. Create a dload folder in the root directory of the SD card.
  2. Copy the UPDATE.APP file to the dload folder on the memory card.
  3. Turn off your smartphone.
  4. Press the Volume Up + Volume Down keys and turn on the smartphone, while the Volume Up + Volume Down keys should remain pressed for ~5 seconds after pressing the power button.
  5. Wait for the update process to complete.

Over the air (FOTA) update:

For of this type It is advisable to use updates high speed connection to a network, such as Wi-Fi.

  1. To update using this method, you need to go to the Settings – About phone – System update section and select “Online update”.
  2. After which the device will connect to the network and if an update is available, click the “Download” button. After clicking it, the update files will be downloaded, then the
    "Install" button. When you press it, the device will reboot, install the update and turn on normal mode. The update package files will be deleted
    from memory automatically.

Please note that if the device has been elevated to rights (root), a recovery other than the original one has been installed, and the system has been modified with
Using this elevation of rights, the update using this method will most likely end in error and the phone will turn on as usual after rebooting
mode.

Update using HiSuite:

  1. Download, install and update to latest version HiSuite program - a utility for synchronization, backup and much more from Huawei (contains ADB drivers).
  2. To further flash the phone firmware, enable USB debugging in the phone settings in the developer section.
  3. Launch the HiSuite program on your computer.
  4. We connect the phone using USB cable in HiSuite mode.
  5. When you first connect, HiSuite begins installing drivers on your computer and Daemon on your phone. (a shortcut to the HiSuite program will appear on the phone - this tells us that the drivers have been installed successfully).
  6. Select the EMUI ROM item in the HiSuite program.
  7. If we DO NOT have a pre-downloaded firmware version, then select the Download ROM item, follow the link and download the required firmware version from the website.
    If we HAVE, or you have just downloaded it, a firmware version, then select the Loading ROM item, we will be prompted to select the location of the firmware file. We find the file and confirm the choice.
  8. The file download process begins.
  9. We are asked to save our phone data. We select the necessary backup items, if necessary, and confirm the choice. Or refuse if we think that we already have saved data. After saving or refusing, select NEXT.
  10. The HiSuite program begins the firmware process.

Important!

  • During the firmware installation process, do not disconnect the cable from either the phone or the computer.
  • Don't touch the phone at all.
  • Do not switch to other processes on your computer.
  • Wait for the firmware to finish.
  • After flashing the HiSuite program, the phone will reboot and enter Recovery mode. A message will appear on the white screen indicating that the phone itself has started flashing the firmware.
  • We are waiting for the successful completion of the firmware in the form of a tick. The phone will reboot itself.
  • We turn off the phone and see a window on it about updating applications. We are waiting for the operation to complete.
  • We go to the settings and in the update item we make sure of the version we have installed.

Possible errors during updating and how to resolve them:

Q: When turned on with the volume buttons held down, the firmware process does not start.
A: Try writing the firmware file to the dload folder again. If it still doesn't start, try starting the update process through the settings menu.

Q: The device turned off and will not turn on.
A: Wait a few minutes. If it doesn’t turn on, turn it on yourself, the process should continue normally.

Q: During the update, the process froze at some point and does not go further.
A: Wait five to ten minutes. If the device continues to hang, remove and reinsert the battery. For devices with a non-removable battery, you need to press and hold (15 seconds) the power button and both volume buttons.

Tablet firmware update:

  • Only FAT32 format cards can be used. Preferably less than 4 GB;
  • The firmware must be located on the SD card in the dload folder;
  • You cannot use the device’s built-in memory (except for those devices that do not have a Micro-SD slot);
  • The file with the firmware should be called update.zip;
  • During the firmware installation, the device will reboot several times - this is normal;
  • If there are several folders in the archive with the firmware (step1, step 2, etc.), then flash all the files one by one.

In order to install any original firmware, you must do the following:

  1. Copy the dload folder with all its contents to the root of the SD card;
  2. Turn off the tablet;
  3. Insert the SD card if it was removed;
  4. While holding the Volume Up key, press and hold the Power button until the screen blinks. The Volume Up button must be held until the installation process begins (a green robot and a progress bar will appear);
  5. Finally, when prompted, remove the SD card or hold the Power button for 10 seconds.

Note: In some cases, there is no need to press the buttons at all and the process will start automatically after turning on/rebooting.

If the update process does not start, you need to open the calculator, enter ()()2846579()()= and then select Project Menu Act -> Upgrade ->SD Card upgrade.

Attention!

  • Do not remove the card or press the power button until the process is complete and the appropriate prompt appears on the screen;
  • If the power is lost during the installation process, repeat the firmware process;
  • After you copy the firmware to the SD card, check if it is damaged (copy the firmware files, disconnect and then connect the SD card, check that the *.zip files in the firmware open without errors on the computer).
  • Delete the firmware file from the SD card or rename the dload folder if you don’t want to accidentally update your tablet again!

Review of Huawei Honor 5A

This is such a surprise from a famous manufacturer. In fact, this model looks cool, but under the hood there is simple Chinese slag, if you look at it from the point of view of such a cool company as Huawei. Judge for yourself, some 6737P chipset, which reaches up to 39K in Antuta, does not have a very cool graphics accelerator, but you can play games, mostly at low, but sometimes at medium settings. This approach is not particularly suitable. It’s easier for this price to take something older, but with Snapdragon from less famous vendors from China.

Have you decided to reflash your smartphone? Rootgadget will tell you how to update firmware on Honor 5A safely. Step-by-step instructions have been made for this.

Why update the firmware on your Android smartphone?

Everyone is motivated by different reasons.

  • Problems with the camera, blurry macro photography, for example.
  • There is a problem with the display response, or more specifically, with the response speed.
  • I'd like to see new Android Pie 9.0.
  • Got boring old version Android, I want new features and capabilities.
  • The smartphone does not turn on or is terribly glitchy.
  • The phone stopped charging.

  1. First you need to download the firmware by selecting one of the options below. Together with her in the archive necessary set programs (TWRP and others).

Honor 5A firmware

Choose what you like, but it is best to download the most modern versions, there is more optimized energy consumption and other joys of life.

  • Android Pie 9.0 - one might say the flagship OS, but still a little unfinished
  • 8.0 Oreo – great option, minimum bugs and rich functionality, but version 9 is certainly better.
  • 7.0 Nougat is a stable version in all respects, it works even on low-power hardware.
  • 6.0 Marshmallow - versions 5 and 6 are already really old, although they were once the pinnacle of progress. But if you switch to them from versions 3 or 4, then of course the difference is very noticeable.

Root rights

If you want to get root access, you can use a universal program Rookthp Pro 2.4, Website address: rootkhp.pro. Instructions for using the program can be found. We can also recommend universal ones ZYKUroot version 2.2. You can find out information about him at zykuroot.info
About more popular programs and we won’t talk about it, the same Kingo and Framaroot are always popular, although they are losing ground a little

The article talks about manual update firmware Huawei smartphones and Honor.

In my opinion, it is easier to install updates automatically, through the built-in smartphone update function. But since automatic update is not always available (as I had with CHM-U01C10B540 Android 6 for Honor 4C), then there may be no other option other than manual installation.

Where to download firmware and update files

It is best to download firmware and updates from the official Huawei support site to avoid downloading anything unwanted:

When selecting a file, it is important to select the correct file. The file must relate to this particular phone model, for example, Honor 4C Pro firmware cannot be installed on Honor 4C.

In addition, the file must correspond not only to the name of the model, but also to its code. For example, the smartphone model Honor 4C, officially supplied to the Russian Federation, has the model code CHM-U01, and the seemingly same Honor 4C, but sold in China and with a different hardware, has the code CHM-CL00 (see comment). Trying to install firmware into your phone from a different model or from a different region will most likely end fatally.

Therefore, for convenience, I provide links to the same official support site, but with files filtered by model. As well as direct links to the latest (on this moment) versions. Also, for some models there are copies of files posted on Yandex.Disk, in case the Huawei download center is temporarily not working, is working slowly, or the files have been transferred somewhere. Links are current and verified at the time of publication.

How to install firmware

Backup

The first step before installing the firmware is to make a backup to save the settings and data.

You can do this on a computer as well. But it’s easier on the phone if a MicroSD card is installed, because there is a built-in Huawei Backup application, and the backup can be saved to a memory card. It is recommended that you update your backup application first if you have not already done so.

You can see how the backup starts in the pictures:

I save copies to an SD card:

I select the data to save. You need to select everything that is stored in the phone’s memory. Since I already have photos, music and movies stored on my memory card, there is no point in including them in the backup copy.

The backup takes 5-15 minutes, depending on the volume:

Copying the firmware file and starting the update

I unpack the dload folder from the firmware file and copy it to the root directory of the MicroSD card. I did it through a computer, see Connecting Honor 4C to a PC. You can pull it out MicroSD card from the phone, copy the files on the computer itself. You can also do this on your phone: download the update file from the link, use the file manager to unzip the folder dload from ZIP to the root folder of the MicroSD card.

Before starting the update, I check that the battery is charged, then I launch the local update from the phone’s settings menu. The phone finds the folder with the update files, updates and reboots.

After rebooting with the settings reset, the first thing I do is enter google account, then I update the Huawei Backup application and restore settings and applications.

Problems when updating a smartphone and their solutions

Installing updates on a smartphone is a procedure tested by the manufacturer, and in most cases it occurs without problems. However, cases are different.

If the update doesn't start

Possible reasons:

The update file is for a different phone model The update file must strictly match the phone model and code.

For example,

  • Update for 4C does not work for 4 C Pro
  • Update for Honor 4C CHM-U01 does not work for Honor 4C CHM-CL00
The update file was copied to the wrong folder or has the wrong name The update file must be in the root folder dload.
