Galaxy S7 vs Galaxy S6: has the S6 already served its purpose? Comparison test of two Samsung smartphones: S6 vs A7 Comparison of Samsung c6 and c7 camera

Company representatives paid very little attention to the actual technical characteristics of both new products (Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge). Which is completely natural in an era when technology has stopped developing at a revolutionary pace, and lists of all these megapixels, gigahertz and gigabytes began to merge for the average consumer in an endless stream of indigestible numbers. No one is chasing the number of cores in processors anymore, or measuring gigahertz and megapixels, although they have not gone away. It's time to talk about new technologies and opportunities. And the main ones this year are virtual reality and 360-degree photography, which are associated not so much with the phones themselves, but with the corresponding ecosystem: primarily content and devices for creating it.

Samsung Galaxy The S7 (review) and Galaxy S7 edge are the successors to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge+. The main technological differences between this year’s smartphones are IP68 water resistance. Which means complete dust and water resistance and the ability to work under water at a depth of more than a meter for a long period of time. From the user's point of view, this means that you can safely dive with such a phone and photograph the beauty of the underwater world.

Despite the fact that the cameras of Samsung flagship smartphones have been serving as a standard of quality for many years now (and in fact compete only with flagship smartphones Apple), it's hard to imagine that they have become even better. Samsung talks about Dual Pixel technology, which provides “larger pixels” that give better pictures in low-light conditions. By the way, today it is by working in twilight and indoors - where there is no bright sunlight - that one can evaluate the capabilities of modern cameras. The struggle is already on for picture quality in difficult and very difficult conditions. Because getting a great photo in bright sunlight is not a problem even for cheap cameras.

New smartphones also have 4 gigabytes random access memory(there can never be too much of it) and a new 8-core 64-bit processor created using 14-nanometer technology. Depending on the market, these may be different processors (4x2.3+4x1.6 or 4x2.15+4x1.6 gigahertz), so Samsung is in no hurry to name their specific modifications. Samsung also decided to return the ability to use external cards memory (HTC went through a similar stress caused by user dissatisfaction several years ago). Interestingly, both new products work under Android control 6.0 Marshmallow, but first time on mine Samsung memory never mentioned its proprietary TouchWiz shell, which can be considered a good sign - in general, it’s good that the company stopped focusing on what is unimportant for the vast majority of buyers and began to pay attention to promising things like virtual reality.

These prospects, by the way, are also indicated by the appearance of Mark Zuckerberg during the presentation, which only emphasizes the importance and mutual benefits of such a partnership for both Samsung and Facebook (which owns the Oculus startup). I remember how impressed I was by the ability to take “spherical” 360-degree panoramic photos in the Nexus 4 3 years ago. Today Samsung is preparing to release Camera Gear 360, which no longer takes photos, but videos in 4K at 360 degrees using two fish eye lenses. Examples of shooting with this camera can be seen below. By the way, please note: YouTube already supports the ability to view images in 360 degrees. Don't be lazy and spend a few extra minutes turning the camera in all directions. This technology is no longer a sci-fi miracle from the future: the Gear 360 will be available for purchase this year as it enters the mass consumer market. This means that there will be more and more such videos adapted for viewing in a virtual reality helmet. And we ourselves (users) will also create it. Not to mention film producers and computer games, behind which, as you know, will not rust. The quality of shooting may not impress you, but it’s worth thinking about the fact that this is the first production model of this class and in future versions we will see changes for the better.

Of course, without a comparative table with the technical characteristics of both presented new products, this story would be incomplete. I can only add that unlike the Galaxy S6, which I reacted with reserved indifference, Samsung in the Galaxy S7 (edge) showed that it is ready to introduce us all to a new wonderful world - the world of virtual reality and shooting with a 360-degree view.

Surely to many fans mobile devices It will be interesting to see how the new Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone differs from last year’s Galaxy flagship S6? Indeed, what is fundamentally new in the new top Samsung smartphone? Briefly about the main thing.

Photo: androidpit.com, on the left - Galaxy S7.

Design

The Galaxy S6's looks and materials were a huge step up from the Galaxy S5's simple design and plastic body. The design of the Galaxy S7 model almost repeats the general features of the S6, but now on back cover The S7 doesn't have any camera part sticking out. The edges on the back of the S7 are now the same as those on the Note 5. This not only makes the phone less slippery, but more ergonomic and comfortable to hold in the palm of your hand.

But the fundamental difference is that the Galaxy S7 supports microSD cards. In addition, the new product received a waterproof housing according to the IP68 standard. Also, unlike the Galaxy S6, new Galaxy The S7 is slightly thicker due to a more capacious battery.

Display

The Galaxy S6 had a QHD display (2560 x 1440 pixels) and it is still one of the best displays on the market. What does the Galaxy S7 have to offer? There is also a 5.1-inch QHD AMOLED screen. But the S7 display received an Always On mode: the time is constantly shown in the center of the screen, as an option, a picture or a calendar, and you can select themes in which these images will be different.

By the way, such displays are only available in the LG V10 and LG G5 models.

Camera

The Galaxy S6 had a great 16MP. camera. But the manufacturer equipped the Galaxy S7 with a new 12 MP camera. The S7 uses BRITECELL's own module for the first time. Physically, the matrix has a resolution of 24 megapixels, but the output image is formed as half the size, adjacent points are combined to increase the sharpness of the image, and this increases the clarity of the output photo. According to Samsung, this is the first device with almost instantaneous autofocus (camera startup takes longer - 0.5 seconds than autofocus activation).

Battery

As you know, last year Samsung reduced the battery capacity of some top Galaxy smartphones (Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6). This, to put it mildly, did not please the fans. This year, Samsung responded to the criticism and packaged the S7 with a 3,000 mAh battery. Both Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S6 support fast charging technology and have a super saving mode. A completely discharged Galaxy S7 is charged from an adapter that supports fast charging technology within 90 minutes.

operating system

Galaxy S7 runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS, and the model is only being updated to Android 6.0.1. Moreover, the S7 uses an almost identical version of TouchWiz as on the S6 Edge + and Galaxy Note 5.

Processors

The Galaxy S7 comes with a Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 processor (depending on region), while the Galaxy S6 comes with an Exynos 7420 processor, comparable to the Snapdragon 810. Additionally, the Galaxy S7 has 4GB of RAM versus the Galaxy's 3GB S6.

Price

It is expected that the initial retail price the minimum amount of memory will be $700, while now on the Internet the Galaxy S6 can be sold for about $450. With the start of sales of new items, as has already been observed several times in past years, the cost of the S6 can sharply decrease. By the way, now the Galaxy S6 model can be bought for about $300...

A lot of time has passed since the announcement of the Galaxy S7. If you remember, the presentation took place in a style unusual for Samsung. For the first time, the bet was placed not on technical characteristics, but on the impressions of the device. This is the approach Apple preaches, so it’s not surprising that it had a blast at the presentation. Samsung went over its competitor in the iPhone 6S in the camera area, not forgetting to highlight other advantages of the flagship: waterproof housing, support for memory cards, fast charging. Work had been done to work out the bugs of the Galaxy S6 and it seemed that Samsung had made the ultimate flagship that destroyed the competition. I had the opportunity to test the Galaxy S7 and compare it with the iPhone 6S. I am sure that some iPhone users thought about switching to S7 after the announcement and may even have already switched to it. In this comparison, I will talk about the strengths and weaknesses of each flagship and share my personal impressions of temporarily switching from the iPhone 6S to the Galaxy S7.

Design and construction

Talk about Galaxy design S7 should start with colors, they greatly affect the perception of the product. The white and black ones turned out better than the others, since fingerprints are not visible on them thanks to a special coating. The phones felt like they were dipped in caramel. The gold and silver versions turned out to be shiny and easily soiled, and fingerprints instantly remain on them. Remember the mirror coating of some Galaxy S6, Xperia Z5 Premium - here it’s the same, only without the mirroring. In a cool room or outdoors, marks are easily wiped off and disappear on their own, but as soon as it warms up a little, looking at the S7 is no longer so pleasant. Alas, the white version of the smartphone is not officially sold in Russia, so if you don’t want to worry too much about fingerprints, take the classic black version. Silver titanium looks more attractive, but is much less suitable for everyday use.

The design of the S7 itself hasn't changed much compared to the S6. The outlines have become smoother, the base is the same glass on both sides and a metal frame. The changes are more visible in the case of the S7 edge; it feels much nicer in the hand compared to its predecessor. The S7's metal frame resembles a bumper rather than a smooth continuation of the body. Same Alcatel IDOL The 4S looks and feels more solid, although it uses the same materials. The S7's frame could use a thicker paint or other finish; it feels rough and unfinished and is easily scratched and chipped. By purchasing a leather case and handling the device carefully, these troubles can be avoided. In general, careful handling of a glass and metal phone costing many thousands of rubles will become your credo. The most sensitive part of the case turned out to be the fingerprint scanner and its protective coating.

It is made of plastic or some kind of fragile glass, since the scanner of the test Galaxy S7 was severely scratched even before it fell into my hands. This cannot be achieved with careful handling of the device, but it is easy to achieve if you carry the device with keys and change in one pocket or in one compartment of the bag. This would be difficult to achieve if there were sapphire glass scanner protection like the iPhone, but alas. Wherein iPhone case The 6S can't be called wear-resistant either. It has a slippery and smooth aluminum body, which is also not recommended for carrying change or keys. Using an iPhone 6S without a case is more expensive, and the thick sides of the original cases or additional glass will save the screen from cracks on occasion.

The rest of the design and body were good. Samsung engineers should be given their due, because the dimensions of the case for a smartphone with a 5.1" screen are extremely small and comparable to the 4.7" iPhone 6S. Moisture and dust protection are rather pleasant additions; the phone is not afraid of rain or spilled liquid, but it is not worth it purposefully drown the gadget and use it for underwater photography. It will last half an hour in this mode thanks to IP68 protection, but you take on the risks. The iPhone 6S does not offer any advanced water protection, although rain and an accidentally spilled glass of water will not be a problem for it (as will sea waves - By personal experience). In some foreign tests, the device can withstand immersion in water for 10 minutes.

The S7 screen has a good oleophobic coating and collects less fingerprints than iPhone display 6S. In terms of resolution, the Samsung flagship is far ahead - 2560x1440 (577 ppi) versus 1334x750 (326 ppi) for the iPhone 6S. In fact, the pixel density is comparable, and the Quad HD resolution of the Super AMOLED screen is needed primarily to hide the pentile. The picture quality is close to the reference for both devices, but not without reservations. The AMOLED display in the Galaxy S7 is characterized by infinite contrast and black depth, high brightness and close to natural colors, but only in the “Main” screen mode. In other modes, colors are not for everyone. As with all such screens, violet-green stripes are visible when tilted, and the display itself turns green when tilted vertically. In everyday life, this may not be noticeable, but lying in bed, when the phone is not held in the most natural way, it is difficult not to notice. You get used to this over time, and if you use the “Basic” mode, then distortions when tilting are not so visible due to the calm color scheme.

The iPhone 6S has an IPS screen with a contrast ratio of 1400:1, which by IPS standards gives deep blacks, which, of course, are infinitely far from the blacks of AMOLED screens. Here the colors and shades are natural, and a slight inversion is visible only with strong diagonal deviations. In other positions the screen performs equally well. iOS 9.3 introduced the Night Shift feature, which reduces blue light levels and makes the screen warmer for comfortable night reading. I would like to see such a function on all smartphones in the world. Some companies already have it or had it before it appeared in iOS; Samsung does not yet have this. Using the screen at night is not so comfortable, but there is no severe discomfort due to the low minimum brightness. Samsung also has an adaptive screen mode, which changes the display’s color scheme depending on conditions (works only with native applications), but by default it uses the richest color setting, and I can’t call its effect on the display’s behavior noticeable. This is by no means a TrueTone display. iPad Pro 9.7 (review), the change in shades of which is noticeable immediately with any external change in the situation.

The assembly of the Galaxy S7 does not cause any complaints, as does the location of the main control elements, except for the touch buttons under the screen. If you have not used them before, then out of habit you will encounter accidental clicks and touches at inopportune moments. Backlit keys regular means Now you can’t configure it (but you can use the third-party Galaxy Button Light utility), and you’ll probably get tired of it quickly. After the iPhone 6S, random button presses and the hypersensitive screen of the S7 will greatly irritate any defector. Apple configures the iPhone display in such a way that only frequent areas of interaction with the screen are considered hypersensitive. This protects against accidental clicks, so using the native iOS keyboard is comfortable even on the 4" screen of the iPhone 5S. This is the whole secret. Most Android smartphones have screens that are calibrated differently and instantly respond to accidental touches and clicks on the wrong interface elements. The Galaxy S7 was no exception here, but you can get used to it in a couple of days.

Software

Galaxy S7 runs Android 6.0.1 with latest version TouchWiz skin that has never looked so good. It still has a lot of clumsiness and confusing settings, but at least it is smooth and fast. After iOS you can use it comfortably. The experimental features added the ability to remove the application menu, in which icons are displayed immediately on desktops, as in iOS, MIUI, EMUI, Flyme OS and the latest LG UX. According to rumors, naked Android will also soon lose its application menu. But this is not the only thing added to the new TouchWiz.

Let's start with the main points. Instead of Google Now, the left desktop is given over to the Briefing application, which is integrated into the Flipboard shell. It turns off, but there is much more news and articles here than Google Now offers, so you can leave it. Google Assistant and the Now On Tap function are activated by long pressing the Home button. Double-clicking the button launches the camera from anywhere and even from the lock screen, this is a very useful feature. Holding down the recent apps button launches split-screen mode.

In the settings, frequent functions should be placed in the top position; by default, not all useful sections are there. You can also configure display modes, detailed audio parameters, and a memory and energy saving manager. For desktop icons, background shading is optionally added to make them appear the same size. The gesture control setting has not gone away. New to TouchWiz is an always-on display mode, which displays a clock, calendar, or image on the lock screen. This function can hardly be called useful; it distracts attention from the smartphone, because the calendar or clock on the locked display is constantly moving (otherwise the display would burn out quickly), and it also affects the autonomy of the device. Another useful addition was Game Launcher, which automatically collects games into one folder. Using Game Tools to turn off during games touch buttons, screen recording is activated, screenshots are taken and notifications are turned off, and you can increase or decrease the game resolution. The one-handed control mode at this diagonal isn't very useful, and the simple desktop style is useful for older people or those who don't need all the TouchWiz features.

There are few pre-installed applications and we have to give Samsung credit for this; this used to be a serious problem. But the company went too far, removing even the music player and video player. Luckily, they're easy to download from the Galaxy Add-ons Store, as are other utilities, including those included as gifts for S7 owners. But out of the box Instagram, WhatsApp, Microsoft package Office. Deserves special attention Samsung program Members. It diagnoses the smartphone, communicates with support and provides service workers with remote access to the device to configure and optimize parameters.

There’s not much to say about iOS; it’s mostly unchanged since iOS 7, and the main improvements concern appearance and some specific functions. For tablets, iOS 9 added split screen and picture-in-picture; for phones, in-depth search and Siri capabilities and expanded functions of native applications appeared. iOS 9.3 brought Night Shift mode (makes the screen warmer for night reading and falling asleep faster), improved performance and stability, some additional settings in the Health app and Touch ID support in Notes. In the iPhone 6S review, you will read more about the system and how 3D Touch works; after all, this is also a part of iOS recently, and in the iOS 10 review you can find out what Apple has prepared for its users for the fall.

Camera

Compared to the S6 and Note 5, the smartphone camera has undergone the most serious upgrade in the S7. Its characteristics: 12 MP, Dual Pixel, 1.4 micron, autofocus, flash, optical image stabilization, f/1.7, 4K video recording. The resolution was reduced compared to its predecessors, the pixel size was increased, the pixels themselves were pumped up, the aperture was made wider, the focusing was made lightning fast - now one of the best is ready mobile cameras. Why not the best? There are a lot of nuances.

Let's start with the fact that there is not one camera, but two. One uses a Samsung sensor, the other Sony, in daytime there is no difference between them, but in the dark the version with a Sony sensor turns green. Focusing on the S7 is impressively accurate and fast, but only in the center of the frame, where there are 35 focus points. Plus, it does not work in 1080p/60fps shooting mode when recording video, but it works in 4K. Sometimes blurring is possible, the percentage is approximately the same as on the iPhone 6S. Post-processing of images sometimes seems aggressive, although with effective noise reduction. The consequence of this was excessive sharpness, which can not be noticed in every scene - landscape photography, photographing slides and presentations with text (a visible outline appears around the letters). In other situations and scenarios, you will most likely not notice this at all, and will end up with photos with the correct white balance, natural colors and correct exposure. For those who are concerned about the sharpness of JPG, a professional mode is offered with the export of RAW files, which can be easily processed in any advanced software. graphic editor. Even mobile Adobe Lightroom consumes them with a bang and reveals the Galaxy S7 edge camera more fully. Point: the camera always starts in automatic mode, so for pros it is recommended to put a shortcut to the Pro-mode of the camera on the desktop in order to launch it immediately. The distortion issue, widely publicized by some users, has already been fixed software in one of the latest updates.

Otherwise, we have a wonderful camera, which, whatever one may say, takes some getting used to. The “take it out and shoot it” scenario doesn’t always work here. iPhone 6S in this regard shows itself as any iPhone before. He may not take the best or sharpest shot in the world, but he will take just a good photo as quickly as possible. Knowing all the features of the S7 camera will make it easier to get an impressive shot. Not easier than on the iPhone, but easier than not knowing the features. For your patience and work, the S7 camera will reward you with a minimum amount of noise, clear pictures in not the best conditions, good background blur in macro and excellent food photographs (note to food blogger). Below is a comparison of pictures from the iPhone 6S, where the Korean flagship is on the left and the American one on the right.

Performance, tests, sound

There are two modifications of the smartphone, one with the Snapdragon 820 chipset, the other with the Exynos 8 Octa 8890. The second one is supplied to Russia and most countries of the world, and that’s good. The Samsung chipset shows itself to be strong and productive, has top results in benchmarks, low heating rates, and no significant throttling or problems in the tested games. In AnTuTu the device selects 130,828 points, 2161/6554 in Geekbench, in Vellamo - 6253/3555/3471 points, Epic Citadel - 58.4 fps in Ultra quality, in GFXBench - 7.9/15/15/28/27/40 /53/86 fps, 3DMark - 2158 points. Interface slowdowns are practically eliminated, although the system is not immune to application crashes.

Asphalt 8, Unkilled, Dead Effect 2 and Implosion run quickly and smoothly at maximum quality settings. With the iPhone 6S, things are the same; the results in the benchmarks are also comparable (I don’t present them here because iOS doesn’t have even half of these tests; for clarity, check out the latest AnTuTu rating). Both devices heat up their bodies noticeably. The heating is uniform in both places, but the S7 has a slightly more pronounced warming on the right edge of the device. Both devices are best used with cases if you plan to play for a long time, although you most likely will not be able to play for a long time. Samsung Galaxy S7 battery life is about 4 hours of screen time with enough active load (Galaxy version S7 with an edge display lasts longer and heats up less). The iPhone 6S discharges in the same amount of time. if you use it to its fullest. Both devices will last a day, but to do this you need to let them out of your hands at least sometimes. Plus Galaxy S7 can be called here fast charging, because in 90 minutes the 3000 mAh battery is fully charged. The iPhone 6S with its 1715 mAh takes longer to charge if you use the iPad charger, and if you use the included iPhone charger, it takes much longer.

The sound of smartphones in headphones has become an important criterion for many users and for me personally, so it was interesting to compare these two devices using the Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H6 headphones. The comparison showed that the iPhone 6S sounds cleaner and more detailed, wider, and has more volume headroom. The Galaxy S7 sounds good, most users with simpler headphones will not be upset. If you dig deeper into the settings, play around with simulating tube sound and adjust the sound specifically to your hearing, you can achieve a slightly more interesting impression from the device. The iPhone 6S is much simpler in this regard and it is problematic to customize its sound except with the built-in equalizer and third-party players.

conclusions

The Galaxy S7 is undoubtedly Samsung's best flagship, offering maximum specifications and a cool camera in stylish body made of glass and metal. The device is not without its nuances, but ideal smartphones does not happen, and the iPhone 6S is also very far from the dream device. Is it worth upgrading from iPhone 6S to S7? Yes, if you do not depend on Apple services and are not strongly tied to a certain set of software that looks or works a little worse on Android. At least until the fall, the Samsung flagship will find something to keep you busy, and then the iPhone 7 will be released. You should definitely take a closer look at the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge if you've owned all the previous ones Samsung flagships or top solutions from competitors and look for a worthy replacement for them. Until the end of the year, it’s unlikely that anything more significant will happen in the Android world than the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge (except maybe the Galaxy Note 7). Despite some shortcomings, the S7/S7 edge now has practically no competitors among Android and most likely will not have them for a long time.

It's strange that we haven't done it yet Samsung comparison Galaxy S7 vs Galaxy S6: how much is the “newbie” superior to its predecessor, which smartphone will ultimately become the best buy now?

Based on the feasibility of the purchase, the main factor of choice will be the price/capability ratio of the smartphone. On this moment Samsung Galaxy S6 in Russia can be purchased starting from 27,000 rubles, while the official price in Samsung branded showrooms and stores of its retail partners is 34,990 rubles.

In this case, we are considering the basic version of the Galaxy S6 32 Gb without Dual-SIM. For the Duos option you will have to pay a little more - from 33,500 rubles, since these handsets are officially supplied to Russia only with a memory capacity of 64 GB.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has minimal variety of choices. In fact, we have one model with a memory capacity of 32 GB and support for two SIM cards. Now Samsung Galaxy S7 32 Gb can be purchased at a price of 39,000 rubles in small online stores, but the official recommended price is still 49,990 rubles.

Samsung Galaxy S7 vs Galaxy S6: comparison of characteristics

In terms of technical characteristics new Samsung The Galaxy S7 is clearly superior to its predecessor:

  1. Much faster processor (for Russia and CIS countries - Exynos 8890).
  2. Excellent camera, the best among smartphones at the moment.
  3. MicroSD memory card support. This is actually a very important parameter.
  4. Work in the most modern 4G LTE networks, even those that are only being tested even in South Korea itself.
  5. Significantly more capacious battery and best technologies energy saving.

However, this superiority cannot be called overwhelming. For example, compared to the Galaxy Note 3, its “successor” Note 4 was a much more technically advanced product, literally crammed with innovation, which cannot be said about the Galaxy S7. Rather, it is a very high-quality and well-thought-out product, during the creation of which a lot of work was done to correct errors and a number of interesting features were introduced, such as a new camera.

Buyer decides

However, in any case, the buyer puts an end to the Samsung Galaxy S7 vs Galaxy S6 dispute. In our opinion, it makes sense to buy a Galaxy S6 now only during promotions, when its price can be reduced even in reputable retail outlets to 30,000 rubles; in all other cases, buying a Galaxy S7 will definitely be more practical. Even if you are short on funds, there are many offers from reliable stores at very attractive prices.

(No ratings yet)

Samsung Galaxy S7 - one of the most anticipated smartphones of the first half of 2016 - fully met the expectations of fans of the South Korean manufacturer and was generally liked by the majority of interested users. Along with this, many potential buyers have a completely logical question: is it worth upgrading from the S6 model, or are the differences between the two smartphones not so significant? More on this later.

Design Features

The materials used to produce the smartphone, as well as the design of the device, are superior in all respects to those of the S5 model. In the new product of 2016, the manufacturer decided not to stray from the chosen path and kept best features S6, without making virtually any noticeable changes. The list of these includes only the following points:

  • part of the camera no longer protrudes above the back cover;
  • the edges of the rear panel have become rounded, like Samsung Note 5;
  • a slot for microSD flash cards has appeared;
  • the case became waterproof;
  • The thickness of the case has increased slightly, primarily due to an increase in battery capacity.

Overall, the 2016 model fits more comfortably and ergonomically in the hand, without slipping or causing any other inconvenience.

Display

Samsung Galaxy S6 was equipped with a QHD display with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels. Overall the screen is still one of the best on the market.

How are things going with the S7 model? The new product is equipped with a similar QHD Amoled display with a diagonal of 5.1 inches. Among the innovations, the Always On mode should be noted: when activated, indicators of time, battery charge, notifications of missed calls and received messages, etc. are beautifully and compactly placed in the center of the display. You can select different options for displaying image data.

For example, the G5 and V10 models from LG are equipped with similar displays.

Camera

The predecessor was equipped with a 16 megapixel camera, allowing you to take high-quality photos with realistic color reproduction and shoot excellent videos. The number of megapixels in the S7 model is 12, but the quality has increased significantly. The whole secret lies in the Britecell module: the resolution of the physical matrix is 24 megapixels, but the finished image is formatted into 12 megapixels by combining adjacent dots. As a result of such processing, the sharpness of the image increases and higher clarity is provided.

According to the manufacturer, the Galaxy S7 has an almost instantaneous autofocus function, which is also a serious advantage for users who prefer to take photos and shoot videos using a smartphone.

Battery

The battery capacity has increased by 400 mAh compared to the Galaxy S6 and is now 3000 mAh. Just like its predecessor, the 2016 flagship has super battery saving features and quick recovery battery life. Average per full charge Galaxy battery S7 takes 80-90 minutes. Additional benefits include wireless charging.

Processor and operating system

The 2016 model is powered by Exynos 8890 or Snapdragon 820 processors, depending on the recipient country. The Galaxy S6 was powered by an Exynos7420 processor, the characteristics of which roughly correspond to those of the Snapdragon 810.

The amount of RAM also differs: the new product has 4 GB versus 3 GB for the Galaxy S6 model.

The 2016 flagship initially runs on the latter at the time of release of the device Android versions Marshmallow. Along with the, a new version mobile operating system available and Galaxy owners S6.

Samsung's proprietary custom shell, TouchWiz, has undergone virtually no changes compared to the shells of the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+.

Price

But here, the Galaxy S6 has a clear advantage. This smartphone you can already find it within 30,000 thousand rubles, when as a new product in 2016 it will cost an average of 40,000 rubles, and in the case of the Galaxy S7 Edge you will have to shell out about 50,000 rubles.

Thus, in our opinion, there is no need to rush out and exchange the Galaxy S6 for a brand new flagship. And the biggest difference between one and the other is the new memory card slot and moisture protection. If these indicators are not very critical for you, you can safely take the Galaxy S6 - its power is still quite enough for all tasks, and the money saved on the purchase will not be superfluous. Or choose something else - the 7th “Galaxy” with other gadgets.

P.S. Give a like if you think it’s too early to write off the “old S6”! Or write in the comments why you think differently!
