The relevance of modern forms of education in the context of the development of professional pedagogical education at the present stage of global informatization of society predetermines the search for effective means of telecommunication interaction aimed at achieving high educational results using educational tools based on information and communication technologies (ICT), ensuring continuity of professional development, flexibility and mobility of training of modern specialists.

Modern trends in the development of Russian society, as well as other scientific sources and Internet resources, actualize attention to the development of distance education, which is based on the need of specialists for continuous and rapid acquisition of new knowledge. The professional activity of a teacher is now impossible without the active use of ICT.

We can already say with confidence that the Internet is a huge learning environment, a source of diverse educational resources (electronic textbooks, interactive tests, teachers’ websites, digital libraries etc.), where each participant in educational activities can realize their potential.

The development of such an educational system is based on the conceptual foundations of lifelong education, based on various factors that determine the social demand for open educational systems (availability of education, demand for additional professional education, etc.)

Distance learning aims to provide every person with the opportunity to receive education at any level at their place of residence, without the need to move, thanks to the use of modern ICT tools.

Thus, in essence, distance education is education obtained through the Internet and other ICT means.

With this kind of training, the student masters most of the material himself. However, within the framework of the chosen course, the student is provided with methodological support and the opportunity for online communication and consultation with the teacher. As part of distance courses, group classes are usually also held, where projects developed by students are jointly analyzed.

Therefore, the tasks solved during the implementation of the concept of lifelong education were specified at the UNESCO international conference. This new reality is characterized by a variety of organizational forms of acquiring knowledge (bachelor's, master's, advanced training) and the presence of a variety of technologies, among which an important role is given to distance educational technologies and e-learning tools.

That is why various types of distance learning have increasingly begun to be used in the educational process. educational technologies, which in Lately become necessary component training that complements traditional forms of training. The essence of such technologies is that traditional training is supplemented by the use of electronic and other means of communication. It is important to note that this form of training excludes direct contact between the teacher and the student at all stages of the educational process and is a new form of training that does not replace the correspondence form, but has its own individual technologies and learning tools. One example of such a connection could be Feedback student with a teacher using:

Email;

Specially organized forums;

Posting information on the teacher’s personal website;

Using webinar and video conferencing services to create online learning.

In this regard, the problem of choosing innovative tools used in distance learning has become particularly relevant. All this led to the identification and scientific and methodological study of webinars as an innovative, effective, interactive and visual way of interaction between all participants in the educational process.

Until recently, people did not see the difference between distance learning and correspondence learning, but now learning researchers have distinguished between these two concepts. Very often, a webinar is equated with video chats or other forms of communication via the Internet, which is erroneous.

A webinar differs from a video conference in that it allows large quantity turn viewers into real interlocutors with the presence of an installed microphone and video camera. The Guinness Book of Records records the world's largest online business seminar, the number of participants of which was 12,012 people. Let us give examples of various forms of conducting classes when organizing webinars: seminar-consultation, seminar-meeting, seminar-provocation, seminar with elements of group work, seminar-visualization, Socratic dialogue, online conference-Socratic dialogue.

The peculiarity of the webinar is its content and methodological richness, specificity and practical nature of the educational issues being worked out. The task of the teacher in this case is to perform an organizational function related primarily to the direction and adjustment of the general course of the educational lesson.

A valuable advantage of webinars is the ability to allow students to familiarize themselves with educational materials without coming to the university and reduce the impersonality of learning for part-time students, which in turn brings the educational process closer to full-time education. As a result of this form of training, participants save significant time (no need to waste time on the road) and can use the recording and review the lesson at any time. In addition, webinars may have the function of anonymity or “invisibility” of users, so that participants in the same conference may not be aware of each other’s presence.

The introduction of webinars into the system of additional professional education helps to improve the professional competence of teachers and the formation of teaching staff that is adequate to the modern sociocultural situation and the social order of the education system.

Currently, webinars are used and widely used in educational practice in the following cases:

When broadcasting lectures by famous professors, speeches at conferences, meetings of the academic council;

To preserve cultural heritage (conducting a master class, recording an experiment);

For additional counseling of students (for example, if the number of hours allotted is insufficient, when students leave);

For advanced training and second higher education without interruption from the main activity.

Currently, there are a large number of different platforms for conducting webinars, which include various modules: text chat; Voice connection; survey with immediate statistical processing results; collaboration on viewing documents posted on the Internet; exporting files, sending invitations, etc.

Let's take a closer look at some of them.

1. BigBlueButton (http://www.bigbluebutton.org/). This site will allow registration of only 30 participants, including the lecturer. Free and suitable for everyone operating systems. Integrates with Moodle, Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader. Allows you to upload documents, record a webinar, and work with an interactive whiteboard.

2. OpenMeetings (http://incubator.apache.org/). Just like BigBlueButton, it supports the basic capabilities necessary for holding a webinar. The big disadvantage of this platform is the lack of Russification and the inconvenient arrangement of windows.

3. Webinar (http://www.webinar.ru) free version allows you to organize a webinar for up to 5 users. Allows you to upload documents, record a webinar, and work with an interactive whiteboard. This platform allows you to conduct tests and voting. There is also statistics on the activity of participants, which is very helpful in the learning process.

4. Skype (http://skype.com/) The free version allows you to organize video conferencing with no more than 10 users. The software is easy to install and use and allows you to transfer images from the monitor screen. The big disadvantage of this platform is the unstable video connection and screen broadcast quality and the lack of collaboration capabilities.

5. Microsoft Lync (http://lync.microsoft.com/). It is a paid software and allows you to organize online seminars for up to 100,000 participants. There is integration into office applications; a wide variety of functions (from sending instant messages to video conferencing), the ability to record webinars. The disadvantage of this platform is the need to install a server part and the lack of a variety of functions for working with the interactive whiteboard.

6. Comdi (http://www.comdi.com). It is also a paid shell that allows you to organize online seminars for up to 15,000 participants. It is a Russian development. Allows you to hold both open and closed events, zoom video images, record webinars, integrate files from various applications, and conduct surveys.

7. Webinar through the information and educational network 4portfolio.ru. This platform is free today and does not limit the number of users on the network. The platform is full of various tools necessary for blogging, commenting, exchanging opinions and experiences, etc. The great advantage of this platform is the simplicity of the design and interface for the user, as well as the ability to use it in network interaction of all participants in the educational process.

It is worth noting that any system has its drawbacks. For distance learning, this is, first of all, the lack of direct contact with the teacher, as well as severe self-discipline and self-training of the teacher innovative technologies. But Internet learning is already a reality, a technology that is rapidly developing day after day and is present in the life of every person.

Master's students in pedagogical education (master's programs "Information Technologies in Physics and Mathematics Education", "ICT in Education") together with S.V. Panyukova, the head of the information and educational network 4portfolio.ru, organized webinars on the following topics:

  1. Methodology for using the social network 4portfolio.ru as an educational platform
  2. Promising technologies in education.

To conduct webinars, the undergraduates chose the platform 4portfolio.ru, which is rapidly developing, enriched with new functionality, and is gaining more and more popularity among Internet users every day. To conduct webinars, master's students in pedagogical education worked out event plans in detail, compiled lists of participants, and prepared handouts and demonstration materials. The subjects were first-year students who had just moved to a new stage in their lives. The organizational and preparatory stage included the creation of a special community in the information and educational environment 4portfolio.ru for first-year students of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the DSPU in order to unite and notify them about upcoming webinars. During the webinars, master's students in pedagogical education revealed all the advantages and capabilities of this system, held master classes on creating an electronic portfolio in the information and educational environment 4portfolio.ru, where the importance of having such a portfolio for each student was clarified, teaching materials were sent out and video recordings of webinars.
The webinars conducted allowed us to get acquainted with the capabilities of the information and educational network 4portfolio.ru for distance learning, which is currently widespread and is a necessary component in the system of lifelong education. Using it, master’s students in the master’s programs “Information Technologies in Physics and Mathematics Education”, “ICT in Education” (supervisor T.G. Vezirov) developed their own web portfolios.

To successfully assess the quality of the material learned, as well as develop skills in conducting webinars in educational activities, first-year students had to present and defend the author’s web portfolio they had developed by organizing their own webinar.

Review: Recently, serious changes have been taking place in the higher education system, which affect both foreign and Russian universities. They are associated with the manifestation of the following trends: the implementation of the concept of lifelong education, the globalization of the educational space, a change in the educational paradigm, as well as the large-scale introduction of information and telecommunication technologies into the educational process of universities. Quite a large number of articles have been written about this (S.D. Kalinina, E.V. Berezhnova, Yu.V. Frolov, N.V. Ivashchenko, etc.). In this regard, the topic of the article is relevant and significant. The text of the article is presented consistently and logically. In my opinion, the author should pay attention to the novelty of the proposed work through a description of the organization of webinars for masters of teacher education. The article will only benefit from this. After revision, I recommend it for publication.

Review: The article is certainly relevant at the present stage of education. The author logically builds the structure of the work, introduces readers to the course of ICT training tools, one of which she calls a webinar. However, the following should be taken into account: firstly, there are punctuation errors in the article (for example, in the title of the article there is no need for a comma after the word “webinar”; in the sixth paragraph “thus” is an introductory construction, you need to put a comma, etc.), they should be corrected; secondly, in the second paragraph it is not clear what the author means by the words “literary sources”; most likely, scientific sources should be indicated here, since the article is not literary-critical, but scientific; thirdly, and most importantly, there is no specific methodological application of webinars in teaching undergraduates - this could be a fragment of a lesson using a webinar or a course program, where the place of webinars, their significance and role in training is shown in the planning (course program). After correcting these shortcomings, the article may be recommended for publication.

Review: Alexandra Vladimirovna, there are quite a few punctuation errors left. The word “Internet resources” (second paragraph) is written with a hyphen. 6. Comdi (http://www.comdi.com). It is also a paid shell, I allow it, but I need it... Thus, in essence, distance education is education, ..... Etc. The article must be carefully verified. Finalize it.

Review: Taking into account the revisions and corrections, the article can be recommended for publication.

The development of modern society in the conditions of informatization is associated with the introduction of information and communication technologies into all spheres of human life. Modern trends in the development of society as a whole and Russian education actualize attention to the development of distance education, which is based on the need of specialists for continuous and rapid acquisition of new knowledge, without which business success and career growth in a technologically developed society are impossible.

The relevance of modern forms of advanced training in the context of the dynamic development of education predetermines the search for effective means of telecommunication interaction, ensuring continuity of professional development, flexibility and mobility in the training of modern specialists. One such tool that has recently become widespread in educational practice is webinars.

So what is a webinar? Let's look at the Wikipedia encyclopedia: “An online seminar (web conference, webinar, English webinar) is a type of web conference, holding online meetings or presentations via the Internet. During a web conference, each participant is at their own computer, and communication between them is maintained over the Internet through a downloadable application installed on each participant's computer or through a web application. In the latter case, to join the conference you just need to enter the URL (website address) in the browser window.” This new concept of Webinar came to us from the West. Gradually, the new concept of a webinar is becoming accustomed to our reality and is somewhat modified.

The webinar format allows the presenter to convey information to seminar participants located at a distance from each other, allowing them to hear and see each other.

Nowadays, a webinar is not only an online seminar, but also online lessons, online lectures, organized using web technologies in real time. During the webinar, participants are located at their computers, and communication between them is maintained via the Internet through a downloadable application installed on each participant's computer.

Various webinar platforms also provide the ability to use modules such as chat(s); survey; demonstration of content; joint work, etc. Their combination makes it possible to solve a variety of didactic problems.

The main feature of webinars is interactivity, the ability to demonstrate, give, receive and discuss information.

Thanks to the Internet and new forms of education, we can now study, conduct lessons, lectures, trainings in online mode, without leaving home. This saves time and money.

Typically, webinars provide the following features:

  • multilateral video and audio conference;
  • downloading and viewing presentations and videos;
  • text chat;
  • surveys;
  • showing the lecturer's computer screen to the audience.

During the webinar, interaction between the teacher and students occurs in real time through audio and video communication. The ability to broadcast video allows you to see the teacher, who can demonstrate a presentation or other documents while explaining the material. During training, the teacher and students can share their files or provide access to them. The electronic board allows you to leave notes for all webinar participants in accordance with their rights. An effective means of accompanying a lecture is to demonstrate a desktop showing the actions performed by a webinar participant.

Interactive tools for remote interaction, such as chat, voting and polling, allow you to collect information on a particular issue. Sharing applications gives the webinar listener and instructor the ability to manipulate software running on another computer.

Managing a user's remote desktop allows you to gain complete control over his computer. It should be noted that it is possible to record and subsequently view the event, which significantly increases the interest of listeners in participating in webinars during the learning process.

Webinars are useful for those who want to learn and gain new knowledge.

Benefits of webinars.

1. Saving money on training

Firstly, the cost of online training is much lower compared to open seminars and trainings. Secondly, you don’t need to spend money on travel, hotel and food. The costs of organizing the educational process are also minimal: all that is needed is Personal Computer, connected to the Internet, speakers and, if necessary, a webcam. Thirdly, there are many free webinars.

2. Possibility of interactive participation

Webinar participants can see presentations, videos, and the lecturer’s desktop in the same way as if they were in the lecture hall. You can ask your question to the lecturer in the chat and get a recommendation on a specific situation, participate in surveys and voting, exchange opinions with colleagues on the selected topic in the chat, give and receive advice.

3. There are no boundaries or distances for webinars

You can participate in the webinar from anywhere - at work, on a business trip, on vacation, at home. You can listen to a lecturer who is in another city or even in another country.

4. Time saving

Webinar technology involves training in short sessions: usually from 1 to 4 hours. There is no need to waste time traveling to the training company’s office, on business trips, flights, transfers and hotels. That is, with the help of webinars you can study almost without interrupting your work.

5. The webinar is effective way training

You will be able to select the best lecturer and company in a short time. You will be able to keep abreast of new techniques, techniques or knowledge, increasing your professionalism and personal qualities. In addition, you will be able to receive a recording of the webinar - almost all webinars are recorded, as well as theoretical material in the form of presentations.

At the same time, an analysis of the experience of conducting webinars allows us to identify a number of problems that affect the effectiveness of their use in the process of advanced training: technical (primarily low quality of communication channels, Internet speed); motivational, psychological (readiness to master new ICT tools); organizational (availability of organizational conditions for conducting and participating in webinars); competency-based (level of ICT competence of education system specialists).

While engaged in self-education and improving my qualifications, I often attend webinars and conferences.

During my work, I attended webinars on the following topics:

  • “Methodological features of teaching according to the educational and methodological set for grade 7 “Geometry” (team of authors: Merzlyak A.G., Polonsky V.P., Yakir M.S.)” (04/17/13)
  • “Prototype of an electronic textbook from the publishing house “Prosveshcheniye” (12/17/14)
  • "People's Task Bank" (01/21/15)
  • “Student works are a powerful Internet resource of new educational content” (01/28/15)
  • “Different approaches to organizing work in the classroom. Blended learning" (04.02.15)
  • “How to choose a device for working with an electronic textbook?” (12.02.15)
  • “On the requirements for electronic textbooks” (02/19/15)
  • “Conceptual features of the algebra course for grades 7-9. in UMK authors: Yu.M. Kolyagin, M.V. Tkacheva, N.E. Fedorova, M.I. Shabunin. Transformation of algebraic expressions" (03.03.15)
  • “Assessment of the maturity of research and project activities in a primary school” (11.03.15)
  • “Open lesson with Enlightenment. How to work with an electronic textbook" (03/16/15)
  • “Open lesson using the electronic textbook from the publishing house “Prosveshchenie” (Literature, 7th grade, author V.Ya. Korovina, V.P. Zhuravleva, V.I. Korovina)” (03.23.15)
  • "Open lesson using electronic form textbook on computer science for grade 4 (UMK “Perspective”)” (05.10.15)
  • “Use of teaching materials in mathematics in the context of the introduction and implementation of the Concept of Mathematical Education of the Russian Federation (using the example of designing a lesson using teaching materials from S.M. Nikolsky and others)” (07.10.15)
  • « Electronic system“Education”: working with materials and electronic services systems" (08/19/15) (show certificates)

For example, on March 16, the Moscow Department of Education broadcast the second open online lesson on the use of electronic textbooks. The lesson was conducted as part of the ongoing webinar “ Electronic textbooks- a new educational reality." Participants in the webinar and viewers of the broadcast from the website of the Department of Education - more than 4 thousand people - saw a mathematics lesson. It was conducted by the teacher of gymnasium No. 1520 Alexey Doronin. A group of young teachers from Moscow acted as students, and later as experts. EE is not a panacea, but only support for a teacher who knows how to teach and loves to communicate with children. The teacher tablet controls the student tablets.

The lesson was beautiful and exciting. Huge time savings. I listened to this webinar, as well as the series of these webinars, attentively, because... I wanted to test working with the EU by downloading it to my device. The publishing house "Prosveshcheniye" provided such an opportunity for every teacher to familiarize themselves with and work with the educational system from April 15 to May 31. But, unfortunately, for technical reasons it didn’t work out for me.

I really liked the webinar on the topic “Project method - buzzwords or useful technology?” It clearly states the definition of “What is a project?”, types of projects, the principle of “5P” (Problem Design Search for information Product Presentation), gives a description of the “5P” and shows with specific examples how to properly organize students’ activities in drawing up and defending projects (show several frames). Recommendations for product evaluation are presented. This helped me with organization research work in students.

Having attended many webinars, I would like to advise teachers to take part in webinars on the platforms of the publishing houses “Prosveshchenie” and “Legion”.

When attending webinars, each person sets a specific goal. Some visit to receive a certificate for certification, others, and the majority of them in Russia, visit for self-education, obtaining new knowledge, new information, but unfortunately, there are few of these in our institution. In our information 21st century, teachers need to keep their finger on the pulse, be aware of all new methods, techniques and knowledge, and constantly improve their professionalism and personal qualities.

How functional are webinars and what are they? Knowing the answer will help you greatly improve the results of your education and make the learning process more convenient and dynamic.

Computer technology is gradually penetrating all areas of our lives. And the system additional education is no exception. Experts have long noted that thanks to the variety of forms of online classes, the effectiveness of educational programs has increased significantly. Internet training, including webinars, which are one of the most common forms of additional Internet education, provide the fastest possible discussion and solution to the problem or question posed. This is especially true within the framework of business education and online learning.

Thanks to this form of IT classes, obstacles and delays associated with meeting time and distance between participants disappear. But the question arises: How functional are webinars and what are they? Knowing the answer will help you greatly improve the results of your education and make the learning process more convenient and dynamic.

What is a webinar?

A webinar is a type of web conference and online class (seminars, lectures, courses, presentations) dedicated to a specific topic. It is conducted by a lecturer in real time. Participants do not need to travel anywhere; they are at home, at their computers, where they see the materials being presented and listen to the comments of the leader. As a rule, in order to participate in classes, you need to install a special web application.

Note that functionality are not limited to just educational online classes. Webinars are actively used to conduct:

  • presentations;
  • partner conferences;
  • corporate meetings;
  • business meetings.

Webinars have a wide range of capabilities: video and audio communication, downloading/playing video and presentations, conducting surveys and voting, a drawing board, text chat, video broadcast of the lecturer’s screen, a function for transferring rights to manage the lesson to listeners.

Advantages and disadvantages of a webinar

Among the main advantages of any webinar are:

  • interactive participation;
  • saving time and money (no need to spend money on travel and accommodation; to participate in professional webinar You can pay for just one application for the entire team; there are also free webinars);
  • high efficiency of training;
  • dynamic presentation of educational materials;
  • the opportunity to see and communicate with famous expert lecturers.

Naturally, webinars also have disadvantages. These include:

  • mandatory computer knowledge at a fairly good level;
  • the webinar will be useful only for those who are really committed to maximizing the learning of the material;
  • participation in a webinar can be simulated, which somewhat undermines the “authority” of documents confirming the completion and acquired qualifications of students online classes.

How to participate in the webinar?

The general scheme of participation in the webinar looks approximately as follows. First you need to select a topic that interests you (the list can be found through the media or on the website of the organization hosting the webinar). Then you fill out an application for participation, pay for it (but there are also free classes), and a personal link to connect to the webinar is sent to your email. Before class, be sure to check your computer settings. More details can be found on the organizer's website.

To achieve maximum effectiveness from a webinar, you must take care of the technical side of the issue. The incoming Internet speed should be high enough (512 kbit/s is recommended for reception, and at least 256 for upload). In order to just hear the lecturer, 32 kbit/s is quite enough. Concerning software, then you need to install a browser, player ( Adobe Flash Player) and the Java system. Before the event, update your player and test your computer. In case of any problems, please contact the service technical support webinar organizer.

Functionality of the webinar in the system of additional education

The webinar, thanks to its interactivity and the ability to remotely unite people who work in different fields into one whole, occupies a special place among all forms of training. It is becoming increasingly popular among organizations working in the marketing, management and education segments. And in the context of advanced training, professional retraining and specialized professional courses, webinars are simply irreplaceable. After all, they provide an opportunity to remotely train and improve the professional level of specialists, regardless of their employment and location.

Speaking more specifically, functional webinar opportunities in the field of additional education are as follows:

  • web lecture (a remote lecture that brings together many students and gives them the opportunity to discuss and present their reports in the context of the lesson);
  • training (online lesson dedicated to practical improvement of skills, abilities, acquisition of new knowledge);
  • professional courses (a course of classes the purpose of which is to acquire knowledge and skills in a new field for a person - courses in makeup, accounting, management, foreign languages, massage or programming);
  • presentation (public presentation of a product, invention, technology or knowledge);
  • educational discussion;
  • survey;
  • collective work on a research project, studying a problem related to professional activity;
  • public defense of scientific works, reports, projects with the possibility of their discussion by students online.
It is important to understand that webinar effectiveness largely depends not so much on the qualifications and professionalism of the lecturer, but on your desire and perseverance. If you use all the possibilities of online classes, you will be able to significantly improve your professional level without significant loss of time and money.
