Today we received a free version of the Ukrainian antivirus Zillya 2.0 for execution. This is far from the most famous computer protection program in the world, and Zillya is not particularly popular. Perhaps in Ukraine this antivirus occupies some market share, but I’m willing to bet that outside the CIS no one has heard of Zillya. By at least You won’t find professional tests of this antivirus during the day.

I would like to immediately point out the fact that this moment Zillya 2.0 version has not been updated since June 2014. I don’t know what the developers are doing there, and whether the antivirus will develop further, but the state of such abandonment is already alarming (the review was published on April 2, 2015. Special for haters).

Zillya 2.0 antivirus installed quickly and without any problems. We started, as they say, for health. None presets They don’t offer it to us during installation, feel free to click “Next” and wait literally half a minute.

Antivirus interface

The graphical shell is something that Ukrainian developers can rightfully be proud of. The interface is colorful, cheerful, like after a vodka, and convenient (I'm serious).

The graphical shell is very reminiscent of Panda 2015 Free, the interface of which I praised in my review, spraying saliva and banging my fist on the table. In Zillya 2.0, the shell is similar only in appearance; there is no Panda-level customization here. But I especially liked the second mode of the antivirus interface: with one button. It's like a car with one pedal, and the brakes. But in the center we see a hefty letter Z, which subtly hints at the developers’ love for one of the images of Antonio Banderes.

Agree, this is something. There is no counter for the received megabytes of data, and the entire usable area is occupied by indecently sized percentages. Well, just like for a mortgage.

Checking web protection in this case is pointless, but a crazy person like me doesn’t need any semantic load.

As expected, Zillya 2.0 detected a virus in the browser cache, but oh well. By the way, is Zilya he, she, or who?

Setting up an antivirus

I had no desire to register Zillya 2.0 antivirus, but without a description of the settings, my review would be incomplete. So I rushed into battle shouting “The Russians don’t give up!”, tearing out hair on my chest and other hard-to-reach places in the process. And then another trap awaited me.

Why do the developers of Zillya 2.0 antivirus need my name and address? Email, and photographs in negligee? This is confidential information that we are forced to transfer in order to gain access to the program settings. Complete nonsense. And after accessing the full antivirus settings, the picture was supplemented with a couple more fragments.

By default, Zillya 2.0 enables the sending of anonymous statistics about threats and exception files. Any other antivirus offers to enable such settings when installing the program, but the Zilli developers decided that they were the smartest. They have blocked access to the settings and are collecting information about who is using which cracks. Masterpiece. Let's disable this spy function and tweak the antivirus a little. I know that half of the readers of my site are from Ukraine, and initially I wanted to please them by writing a positive review of their native Zillya 2.0. But this antivirus left me no choice, it is simply terrible. The defense is very weak. In fact, we have only one file antivirus, the detection rate of which, according to the only semi-professional test I found, is below average. There is no web screen, no proactivity, we don’t know what HIPS is, there is no firewall.

In addition, we have a couple of annoying bugs, although they can be attributed to the program’s incompatibility with virtual machine, the sediment remains in any case. It is especially unpleasant to realize that the developers of the Zillya 2.0 antivirus are trying in every possible way to collect information about the user. Why do they need this? Who knows, but in this situation the program looks more like spyware than an antivirus.

Of course, you can also scrape together a couple of advantages. It's cute and user-friendly interface in standard mode (more than one button), and the speed of the antivirus. Zillya 2.0 practically does not slow down the weak test system, it just flies. I couldn’t even find where to use the epithet Zill-tormozilla. But the number of minuses clearly outweighs these pluses.
