Samsung GT-I9300 Galaxy S3 - Software update and ROOT rights. Firmware for Samsung GT-I9300 Galaxy S III smartphone Firmware update for Samsung galaxy s3

Samsung Galaxy S3 - new Android flagship.

So, in the end, what everyone expected happened! After months, a huge number of rumors and unconfirmed data, Samsung almost a couple of minutes ago showed its own new device from the Galaxy line - Galaxy S3

Updating Galaxy S3 to Android 5.1.1

In this video I made a mini review on update system, if you wish, a more detailed analysis of this update.

From the outside, the new product looks very, very presentable: smooth contours, a fairly narrow body and several color options. For some reason this device reminds me of Galaxy Note, but with one huge difference, the Galaxy S3 looks neater.

The new product boasts a delightful 4.8-inch SuperAMOLED HD screen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels, an 8 megapixel camera and a fairly impressive 2100 mAh battery.

As they say at Samsung, the Galaxy S III is a phone that sees, hears and responds. The new product features several special functions that are focused on the subtle interaction of the device with its owner.

— S-Voice function, (some Apple analogue Siri) recognizes the owner's voice and makes commands.

- At help Smart stay the device itself will recognize when the user is reading a book or surfing the Internet, and will maintain the brightness at the same level so as not to strain the eyes.

— The S Beam function allows you to exchange multimedia content with other Samsung Galaxy S3 users simply when two devices touch, the phone itself will begin transferring files, and upon completion it will simply notify the owner.

— The Buddy photo share function will automatically find and send photos captured by the device’s camera to all those who are captured on them.

SGS3 can also connect to smart TVs wirelessly using the AllShare Cast application. However, it is not yet clear whether this will work with all TVs. Also, everything that happens on the phone’s display can be displayed on several computers connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

As I mentioned above, the resolution of the main camera is 8 megapixels, and it will amuse all lovers of mobile photography with its indescribable speed and ability to take a series of 20 frames. After this, the user can select any frames he likes from this series, and simply delete others.

As for the price - 29,990 rubles in Russia, the start of sales is scheduled for June. In Europe, the device will cost about 550-600 Euros, depending on the country (2nd half of May).

Well, in the end, SGS 3 will be available in 3 different versions: with memory 16, 32 and 64GB. Well, for those who will miss the integrated memory, the device has a slot for microSD memory cards.

Hmm, I took the sgs1 in July of that year, everything is fine, I bought a very narrow film on ebay, found it on aliexpress back cover made of soft touch plastic for 3.99, now the smart is comfortable to hold in your hand, does not slip, installed AOKP ICS, good version 4th android, plus the sgs1 still has a USB HOST, the 4-inch screen diagonal is simply excellent, I’ve held various flagships with a larger diagonal, working on them with one hand is not so pleasant, I don’t see the point at all in this moment change smart, because The performance of a single-core processor is enough for daily tasks, and all the new games are coming.

Please tell me, I want to buy a Samsung galaxt s3 for myself in a year. It’s worth it to me. Should I buy it, I looked at reviews, videos, drawings, everything suits me, but I’m still hesitating and looking for other brands to buy, please tell me.

in a year there will be even more cool and new models! maybe wait until August and get an Iphone, although I like the Samsung better. I’ve been using the S2 for a year now and have no complaints at all.

Well, in general, I agree with Evgeniy - progress does not stand still and in a year something will be better/more attractive/faster, etc., BUT! If you want to take it specifically at this moment, this very second, then in my opinion (and you are writing here to get acquainted with your views) - SGS3 is the best that Samsung has ever released from its own phones, namely, the best that is currently moment on the market... Again, I can back up my words by the fact that I rented an HTC One X (the only rival of the SGS3 at that time) for a week, and later a Samsung... even without looking at the defect in the material, the feelings of the material of the SGS3 case, I was stuck on it... abilities , thoughtfulness, support for various tasks/features/protocols/formats is simply amazing... and all this right out of the box... no need to scour the Internet looking for any programs/codecs/managers/viewers/drivers (I only installed the navigation program myself so that I only worked through GPS, an office program and a simple photo editor - so that I could immediately create effects in photos) the main thing was to make updates (I’m only for the official ones, which the phone itself offers). Well, it’s better to take it cheaper - 30,000 re for a phone - that’s not just a lot, IT’S VERY, VERY A LOT... (I took it for 19,000)... I’ve been using it for a month and 3 weeks - and I’m very pleased...

A pipe from a bitten apple compared to SGS3 - heaven and earth, although, as the Germans said, to each his own. VERY playful, successful in appeal, stuffed to the brim, installs applications in one go, but... Incredibly slippery, eats traffic like a bull terrier, it is unclear where and for what purpose it sends data about the owner from all applications, and there are still a lot of problems. And so, everything is at a high level.

From your message it is generally not clear what is stuffed, what slides, where is the bull terrier... sorry.

S3 will not only destroy the iPhone, but also abuse the corpse)))

The huge size of the phone will not allow you to destroy an iPhone.

I really expected to switch from an iPhone to a new Galaxy, but after the presentation I realized that I didn’t need such a “bast shoe” in my pocket :)

Will you do a review later?

4.8″ screen - I'm disappointed. I only got rid of the nexus because of 4.65 because. terribly awkward. 🙁

Alexander N., I would be glad, but I can’t) I live in the region, in the city Lately don’t get it) I’m going to buy it in the web store) By the way, are there any problems with carrying it in the pocket of jeans/trousers? It’s just that for the first time I will take a phone with such a screen diagonal, previously it was insignificant Samsung Star)

Turn it into your pocket, it will fit)) Although the size is of course much larger than the Samsung Star, for example, I have Htc ONE X fits quietly in your pocket, although naturally, you feel its presence, as they say with the body of the whole thing, the shovel is not small...

BLIIIINN Screen: 4.8", 1280x720, Super Amoled, PENTILE!! Couldn't the Koreans make a screen without a pentile... it spoils the whole picture about the flagship, now I have doubts whether to change my own Galaxy from 2... although the resolution is higher, but with a pentile everything will be worse

It's high time for Samsung to change its designers!

And the phone doesn’t seem to be that narrow. This silver lining is an optical illusion.

As you know, the change in device generations today is happening at a tremendous pace. The good news is that the developers do not immediately forget about support and release updates. Today we will discuss updates for the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Update via the device menu

Usually, the most correct and simplest way to make any changes to a smartphone is provided by the manufacturer. The fact is that when using it, you are most likely protected by the developers from the possibility of causing irreparable harm to your gadget. If not, then before you perform critical actions, you will be warned a fair number of times and will definitely be informed about how all this could end and whether you really want to do it.

If you go to the menu item "Settings"(it is shown in the picture), scrolling down a little, you can find the item "About the device". Here you can find information about the firmware, the gadget’s contents, as well as installed software components.

There you will also find the item "System update" and when you click on it, your phone will start searching for updates, then download and install them. A reboot will be required after the completed operations in order to activate updated version software.

Given software is included with the Galaxy S3. If for some reason you were unable to update your phone automatically, you can use this method. The interface is also intuitive, so you shouldn't have any difficulties.

1. Connect your phone to your computer using the micro-USB cable (supplied with your phone).

2. Launch Kies on your PC running Windows system or Mac.

4. If nothing happens, lower the tab "Notification Areas" on your phone. If it says it's connected as a camera, click on that area to change your USB connection option. Select connection as "Media device".

5. Wait for the update process to complete.

Done, your Samsung galaxy S3 has been “promoted”.

Samsung has officially stopped upgrading the international variant, meaning you can't get official update Android KitKat. Naturally, when such a thing happens, online communities pick up the slack. And this is very good news, because Samsung, despite a lot of complaints and online petitions, does not seem to want to upgrade its Galaxy S3 to KitKat (even though everyone knows that you can; Android 4.4.4 is designed to run on a 1GHz processor and 512 MB RAM).

ParanoidAndroid is a ROM created by a dedicated team of developers, and the latest (final) version has just arrived for the international Galaxy S3 model, that is, the model designated I9300. Of course, being a custom ROM, the process of installing it on your phone requires you to have root access, which could potentially brick the phone if it goes wrong and void the warranty too.

Still unsure? Here is an excerpt from Android View about the ROM review: “PA3+ is an AOSP based ROM and what I love most is its beauty, especially the hybrid flexibility. Performance ROM fast and responsive, but one thing that still worries me is the battery life. Don't expect very decent battery performance from it. Install it, enjoy it, and look forward to a battery leak fix in the future."

We hate to say things like this, but we must emphasize that if you are going to root your phone and install this ROM, then you are doing it at your own risk. We are not responsible if your phone stops working!

Before we begin

  1. First of all, it is important to clarify that this software and procedure is for the international variant of Galaxy S3, I9300 only. To make sure that you have correct model, go to Settings > About Phone, where you should see the model number. If it's an I9300, move forward. In addition, the phone must be disconnected from the network.
  2. Secondly, it's a good idea to back up everything important files or data you may have had on board your Galaxy S3 before moving on. You can manually connect your phone to your PC and extract what you need, or you can use a custom recovery tool like ClockworkMod or TWRP - these tools create a whole backup copy phone and you can restore the state that it was if things go wrong or you change your mind (provided that the phone is not completely bricked, of course).
  3. Make sure your computer has updated USB drivers to connect to your phone.
  4. Make sure USB debugging mode is enabled on your smartphone. Go to Settings > Developer Options and check the Enable USB debugging" Note that if you can't see Developer Options, you can open them by tapping the software build number seven times.
  5. Make sure your phone is fully charged.
  6. Make sure you have microSD card in phone.

You must have received root rights to your smartphone!

Get the files

You must download the custom PA ROM:

  • ParanoidAndroid ROM

You must also download compatible Google apps, you have a choice of two sets:

  • Files Google App(template)
  • Google App Files (full)

Now flash it!

Using these downloaded files, connect your phone to your computer with via USB. Copy the PA firmware and Google Apps archive files to the root folder of the phone's SD card - do not extract the files!

Now you can install the ROM using recovery methods either through ClockworkMod (CWM) or TWRP Recovery.

If you are using CWM

  1. Select "wipe data/factory reset". Then select "Yes" when prompted.
  2. Select wipe cache partition and confirm.
  3. Skip to main point CWM menu. Click "Advanced" and then wipe the Dalvik cache and confirm.
  4. Select "Install Zip from SD Card" then "select zip from SD Card". Find the final ParanoidAndroid ROM file, select it and then confirm.
  5. Once this is done, select “Back” next to “Reboot system now” in the recovery menu. Wait for the phone to complete the reboot process, which may take up to five minutes.

If you are using TWRP

  1. Turn off your phone and wait 5-10 seconds until it turns off completely.
  2. Boot your phone into recovery mode by holding Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons simultaneously until the recovery screen appears. You can use the Volume keys to navigate through recovery options and the Power button to select an action.
  3. Click "Erase" and scroll down. Select "Reset to factory settings".
  4. Now select Erase > Advanced Erase and select System. Scroll down and select Swipe to Erase.
  5. Click install and locate the final ParanoidAndroid file on your SD card. Scroll down the screen and make a selection to confirm the firmware.
  6. Follow the same procedure for Google files App.
  7. Once the installation is complete, click “restart” and select “System.” The reboot may take up to five minutes.
  8. Note that if the phone gets stuck in boot loop, perform a factory reset from recovery mode.
