Wirelessly download books to Amazon Kindle: review of the Send To Kindle utility. How to use Amazon Kindle e-reader Open kindle

The Amazon reader supports many file formats, including DOC, RTF, TXT, HTML, as well as the most convenient MOBI and PDF. Unfortunately, Kindle will not be able to read the common ePub and FB2 without preliminary conversion.

There are several ways to download books, both using a computer and without.

The simplest and most obvious option. No Amazon account registration or Internet required. All you need is a computer and a cable.

  1. Connect your Kindle to your computer using a cable.
  2. Open or "File Explorer" and find the mounted removable drive with the name Kindle.
  3. Go to the documents folder and drag the books you need into it.
  4. Remove the device.

Like the previous method, this one does not require registration. And thanks to the capabilities of Caliber, you can immediately convert books from incompatible formats.

  1. Download the program from the link and install it on your Mac or PC.
  2. Connect your Kindle to your computer using a cable and wait for Caliber to detect it.
  3. If books have not yet been imported into the library, add them by simply dragging them into the program window.
  4. Select the required items and click the “Send to Device” button.

3. Send via Send to Kindle

Another option for sending books from your computer. You no longer need to connect your Kindle with a cable; content is synchronized via Wi-Fi. You will need to register an account.

  1. Download the application from the link and install it.
  2. Launch and log into your account.
  3. Drag the book into the application window and select the devices to which it should be downloaded.
  4. Click the Send button and wait for the download to finish.
  5. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on on your Kindle, and within a few seconds the book will appear on the device.

Another option is to download via the Internet. Use of a computer is optional. Any device will do, but you will need a registered Amazon account.

1. Sign in to your Amazon account by opening this link in your browser.

2. Go to the Devices tab and find required device on the list.

3. Open detailed information and copy your Kindle's personal email.

4. Go to the Preferences tab and open the Personal Document Settings section.

5. Scroll to the very bottom and, by clicking on the Add a new approved e-mail address button, add trusted addresses from which you are going to send books to Kindle.

6. Send an email to the Kindle you learned in the third step with the required file in the attachment.

7. A couple of minutes after Wi-Fi is turned on on the reader, the book will appear in the library.

The most autonomous option without using additional devices, applications and account. Books are downloaded directly from the built-in browser.

Amazon is different from other e-book makers in that it constantly expands the capabilities of already released models with the help of new software, which improves the functionality of Kindle.

It is known that any Kindle model has a Wi-Fi or 3G module. And they will also be on new reader models. Users often wonder why they are needed on e-readers? Obviously, browsing websites is very inconvenient - the screen refreshes slowly and flickers, annoying the user. This is not why the wireless module is present on e-readers. About six months ago, all Kindle owners had the opportunity to download books wirelessly over Wi-Fi or 3G using the Send to Kindle utility.

This means that you no longer need to connect to a computer to download files. Very few owners of American e-readers in Russia learned about this opportunity. This is not about sending books to the assigned Kindle e-mail during registration - this method is more complicated and is not suitable for everyone. The Send to Kindle utility allows you to transfer files to your Kindle over Wi-Fi or 3G without connecting the reader to your computer via cable. This is the most quick way Kindle book downloads for today. Plus, no other manufacturer offers anything like it.

We will illustrate the entire algorithm for using these utilities with clear screenshots to convince you that there is nothing complicated in wirelessly downloading books and articles to your Kindle. It's fast and convenient.

As you know, Kindle supports MOBI, TXT and PDF formats. But using this wireless download, you can additionally upload books in RTF, DOC and DOCX formats, since Amazon has an online converter that converts files of these formats into MOBI. Thus, using wireless downloading, you get the opportunity to read books on your Kindle in six formats! Not a bad functionality extension, right?

After installing the utility, you can start downloading files. Select files to upload to required formats. With them selected, click the right mouse button. You will see a new "Send to Kindle" option in the right-click context menu. Feel free to click on it. Your computer, of course, must be connected to the Internet. Sending books from your computer may take a few minutes.

To receive sent books, you just need to connect your Kindle to Wi-Fi (and if you have a reader with 3G support, then just wait for the download). In the Main Menu of the reader you will see the received books.

Another important advantage of wireless downloading is that books sent to Kindle via Send To Kindle are saved on Amazon in your account (section "Your Kindle Library"). You can read books on your Kindle and delete them from the reader, but they will still remain in the library in your account. If you need them again, you can simply download them back from your account through the “Document Archive” function in the main menu of your .

Reading Articles from the Internet on Kindle

In addition, Amazon has introduced a version of the same Send To Kindle utility for Chrome browsers and Firefox, which converts text on a web page into the Kindle MOBI format and sends it to the reader. Moreover, this process occurs within just a couple of minutes. Very soon Amazon promises to release Send To Kindle for the Safari browser.

The situation when you need Send To Kindle looks like this: You need to read an article on a website, but it is large in volume, and you have time to read it right now. But you have a Kindle on which you can read the article when you have time. For example, in transport on the way to work or school.

Now you have the opportunity to convert any web page into an e-book and send it to Kindle for later comfortable reading.

Find an article online that you would like to read on your Kindle. For example, let's take an article on Lenta.ru. Click on the mentioned icon and select one of the suggested options: “Send the entire article,” “Preview the article,” or “Send only the selected text.” In any case, you won’t have to make more than two mouse clicks to send an article or a fragment of text!

Hello everyone Do you like to read books on your smartphone? Maybe you like it, maybe you don’t, but if you do, then the Amazon Kindle app might be interesting to you. The fact is that Amazon Kindle is a convenient program for reading books with mobile device, which works on Android. So this is a reader, but it’s simple, it doesn’t have any complications, even a beginner can figure it out. The program itself has the word Amazon in it, of course, for a reason, the reader was primarily created for the branded Amazon Kindle reader, but there is also a version for Android!

This application can be found in the Google Play Store. When you start, you will be asked to log into your Amazon account; if you don’t have one, you can create one right in the program

We turned on the program, you need to enter it, without this there is no way:

Look, this is an e-reader from Amazon, that is, Amazon Kindle, here it comes in a case:

By the way, I didn't know! But Amazon Kindle e-reader screens are based on electronic ink, there are 16 shades of gray and all this to make it look more like a real book, what a cool thing!

I also found out that the reader is not only for smartphones or tablets, but also for regular desktop computers, like this

When you launch the program, the Home screen will immediately open in front of you, well, this is something like a home page where your books will be, they will be in the form of slides. If you click on a book, it will open. In the right corner of the screen you can see the Trash icon, it is necessary to go to the Kindle Store and purchase some kind of book there. But alas, there is no Russian reading material there, or very little... Look, here is this store icon (like a cart from a supermarket):

On the left side there is a button that is needed to display the following options:

Well, you see there in the menu the first button is Home Screen, if you press it, then I think you will return to the application’s start window. If you click Search, you can search for a book among those that have already been downloaded. The Sync button is apparently to synchronize something, but what? Probably applications on different devices, maybe so... I won’t tell you honestly here, but I don’t want to lie...

There is even some kind of Newsstand, well, did you see it on the menu? I don’t know what this is, but it sounds damn cool..

Here I found a picture, this is already setting up the Amazon Kindle application:

So what can you do here, oh, that is, configure it? There is such a thing as Device name, here you indicate the name of your device. The fact is that you may have several devices with the Amazon Kindle program installed, and all devices were signed in to the same account! To avoid confusion, you can name each program on each device in the settings. Damn guys, I wrote something so much. In the settings you can still unregister the device, I honestly don’t know what it is, there are also some kind of notifications... And, damn it, there is also control using the volume buttons. Guys, this is a TOPIC, because it’s a cool FEATURE OF THE PROGRAM! It’s very convenient to turn pages using the volume buttons, try it and then tell me

By the way, I was wondering, do all devices support turning pages using the volume buttons? But this little thing needs to be checked... Unfortunately, I don’t have the opportunity to check...

I also learned that you can read a book... You read, read, and then you read something important, how important is it! Don’t worry, this important thing can be highlighted, noted somehow, I don’t know exactly how this is done, but I know that you can change the color, add some comment, there is even a trick that you can immediately throw this phrase into a search engine and look for information on it

And here is the Kindle Store on the tablet:

The reader doesn't seem to be bad, but damn, many people write that the reader is great, while others write that the reader sucks. How to understand where is the truth and where is the lie? Well, either watch the videos on YouTube or take it and try this reader at work, what else can I say. Here’s another picture, it seems like books are displayed here, but I can’t say for sure what it is, but it definitely refers to the Amazon Kindle application:

Many users are dissatisfied, not with the program, but with the fact that it is not easy to remove this program! Or even completely impossible! I can’t say anything here, watch the YouTube videos, there are a lot of specialists showing how to remove an application on Android, including those that are difficult to remove! I strongly advise you not to do anything on your own and use some of your own tricks to remove Amazon Kindle, what if something goes wrong...?

Indicator statuses wireless communication
Whispernet delivers content to your Kindle wirelessly. Your Kindle can connect to Whispernet via a Wi-Fi connection or, on some models, a 3G connection (read more about this in the article). The more full the Wi-Fi and 3G connection indicators are, the stronger and more stable it is. wireless connection.

Kindle connects to Whispernet using Wi-Fi.

Kindle connects to Whispernet using 3G connection. In addition, you can see EDGE and GPRS network icons next to the signal strength panel.

Battery indicator
The battery charge indicator shows how fully charged your Kindle's battery is. Please note that weak signal Wi-Fi connections, can lead to excessively rapid energy consumption.

Operation indicator
This indicator appears in the top left corner of the Kindle Touch screen when the device is busy downloading new content, checking for updates, searching, opening large PDF files, or loading web pages.

Kindle Touch Settings
Kindle Touch settings concern connecting the device to Wi-Fi and 3G networks, as well as registering (“linking”) it to an Amazon account.

Network connections: Books, magazines, and other content are delivered to your Kindle Touch using built-in wireless connectivity. If your Kindle Touch supports both Wi-Fi and 3G connections, try to use more than fast wifi compound. You can connect to Wi-Fi networks at home or through hotspots around the world. To see available Wi-Fi connections, go to the “Home Page” and click on the “Menu” button, and then select “Settings”. In the settings window, click on Wi-Fi Networks and then select the connection you need. If you see a lock icon next to the network icon, you will need a password to access the connection.

Kindle models with 3G support use the same data transfer technology as Cell Phones, so the quality of the 3G signal will directly depend on the zone cellular coverage. By default, Kindle 3G is automatically connected to a 3G network. If the 3G signal is insufficient, Kindle can switch to slower GPRS and EDGE connections. Your Kindle automatically turns off its 3G connection if you are currently using a Wi-Fi connection. If you are disconnected from Wi-Fi networks, or if its coverage becomes weak, the Kindle will automatically switch back to a 3G connection.

To preserve your battery charge as long as possible, try to use the wireless network only when you need to connect to Whispernet. If you turn off the wireless connection, both Wi-Fi and 3G connections stop working.

To register your Kindle Touch, click on the Menu button located on " Home page", then select Settings from the list of menus shown. Click Registration and select the appropriate option to begin the registration process.

Download various applications. The reader does not have to be only for reading; you can download many different applications there! Call up the menu on home page and select Apps.

  • You can download apps social networks- Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. Actually, if you want to share with the world news about what you read and what you like about these books, then such applications will serve you well
  • You can also download the Netflix app (if you have the appropriate Account) or HBO to watch movies and shows directly from the reader.
  • Even games can be downloaded to the reader! For example, free versions Candy Crush Saga, Words with Friends and other games.
  • Sideloading (installing applications from unknown sources) is a great way to install applications on your e-reader that are not available through Amazon. In this case, you need to go to settings, then More, then Device, and then find the phrase “Allow Installation of Applications” or “Apps from Unknown Sources” and activate this option. You will then be able to download apps from third-party Android app sources. To do this, you need to go online from the reader, go to the site from which you are supposed to download the application, find the application and click on the “Download” button or similar. Then go to the Amazon app store and download the ES app there File Explorer(this will help you find applications from third party publishers). Once it downloads, open it and go to the downloads folder. There you will find the application you downloaded. Select it, agree with everything and click Install. Once the application is installed, open it.
  • Convert PDF files. Unfortunately, the Kindle opens the .pdf as if the page size of the text strictly matches the screen size. In other words, the text can be compressed simply to the point of indecency and unreadability. To avoid this, you need to send a .pdf file to your e-reader with the word “convert” in the subject line. Then Kindle will convert the .pdf to its format.

    • However, this is an experimental function that does not always give high-quality results. However, it’s better this way!
    • And yes, you can download .pdfs to your reader, both converted to the native Kindle format and not (and you can read them instead of books).
  • Problem solving. Alas, even e-readers from Amazon can suddenly start working incorrectly. The reasons for this are numerous, and most of them can only be corrected by a specialist. However, before you panic and look for the address of the nearest service center, it’s worth checking something yourself - but, of course, not when the reader is constantly overheating; such problems require replacement of components.

    • If your screen freezes or freezes seriously, then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Then release the button, but wait another 20 seconds to press it again. The start screen should appear. There can be many reasons for the appearance of a “frozen” screen - from outdated firmware and clogged memory to overheating and low battery.
    • Email not working? Yes, sometimes. Sometimes it doesn't turn on at all, sometimes it works, but only for a short time. Either way, it's annoying. The best way deal with it - download third party application K-9 or Kaiten mail, or buy the Enhanced Mail app.
    • Problems with getting online can be frustrating, because if there is no connection, then there is no way to buy books! In this case, you need to check the connection (upper right corner of the screen). If the signal is weak, but still there, then restart the reader. Also check the battery level - sometimes this affects the quality of the connection.
