Kaspersky rescue disk updating databases to a flash drive. Graphic and text modes

One such solution is Kaspersky Rescue Disk, which allows you to create a disaster recovery disk based on the Gentoo operating system.

This is a standard feature of any antivirus software for a computer, but Kaspersky Rescue Disk scans without involving the main operating system. To do this, it uses the Gentoo OS built into it.

Booting your computer from CD/DVD and USB media

The program allows you to turn on your computer using a disk or flash drive with it, which is especially useful and necessary in cases where the operating system is blocked by malware. Such a launch is possible precisely thanks to the OS integrated into this utility.

Graphic and text modes

When starting the program, you must make a choice in which mode to boot. If you select graphical, it will be similar to a regular operating system - Rescue Disk will be managed using a graphical shell. If you start in text mode, then you will not see any graphical shell, and you will have to manage Kaspersky Rescue Disk through dialog boxes.

Equipment information

This function collects all information about the components of your computer and saves it in in electronic format. Why is this necessary? Let's say you were unable to load the program in any of the modes, then you should save this data on a flash drive and send it to technical support.

Assistance is provided exclusively to buyers of a commercial license for such types of products as Kaspersky Anti-Virus or Kaspersky Internet Security.

Flexible scanning settings

Another interesting feature is configuring various scanning parameters of Kaspersky Rescue Disc. You can change the settings for updating and scanning an object for viruses. The application also has additional parameters, among which are the categories of detected threats, the ability to add exceptions, notification settings, and so on.

Advantages

  • Scanning without affecting the infected OS;
  • Many useful settings;
  • Ability to burn Rescue Disk to USB drive or disk;
  • Several modes of use;
  • Russian language support.

Flaws

  • Help related to the operation of the program can only be obtained by holders of a commercial license for Kaspersky Anti-Virus or Kaspersky Internet Security

The antivirus solution we reviewed is one of the best in the fight against malware. Thanks to the right approach from developers, it is possible to eliminate all threats without loading the main OS and preventing viruses from doing anything.

Kaspersky Rescue Disk designed to scan and restore infected operating systems. Mainly used when booting is not possible operating system. Boot from this boot disk to clean an infected computer without the risk of infecting other files and computers.

Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 designed to scan and disinfect infected x86 and x64-compatible computers. It should be used when the infection has penetrated so deeply into the system that it cannot be cured with antivirus programs or malware removal utilities (such as Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool).

In this case, the treatment will be more effective, since malware do not receive control when loading the operating system from disk.
Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 allows you to do the following:

  • Configuring object scanning parameters:
  • changing the security level
  • changing the action on detected objects
  • creating a scan area
  • changing the type of objects being scanned
  • scan time limit
  • change scanning method
  • set default options
  • Configure database update parameters:
  • select update source
  • specify proxy server, settings
  • specify region parameters
  • rollback to previous databases
  • Configure additional settings:
  • choose to identify specific types of threats
  • creating a trusted zone
  • configure notification settings
  • specifying the storage time for reports
  • specifying the storage time for quarantine and backup storage objects
  • Create a scan report.

This article won't mess around with another OS.
What we need:
1) Kaspersky image
2) flash drive with a capacity greater than 512MB
3) KAV UPDATE, then you can delete it.
3)ultraso
4) Text editor for example: notepad++

*How to install the bootloader itself on a flash drive will not be described*

First of all, we create a bootable USB flash drive with KRD (Kaspersky Rescue Disk). The most suitable instructions.

Another option for creating a flash drive with KRD:

1) Download the image
2) Create a folder rescue* in the root of the flash drive, and also create a file liveusb* also in the root.
3) Copy the image to the folder and rename it rescue.iso*
4) Take KAV UPDATE*, run it, get rescueusb.iso* and update the database as a gift
*Other names are not allowed
**Write file and folder names without asterisks

Now the fun begins.
We boot from a flash drive and update the databases, even if you have already updated them using KAV UPDATE(!).
After the message about a successful update, look for the Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10.0 folder on the disks, then cut it out and copy it to the root of the flash drive.

We boot back into the system.

The databases will be updated directly to the flash drive, but we still have two problems:

1) the space occupied by databases in the disk image
2) a license agreement that also interferes with our lives if you use a flash drive often.

Let's start with the second point. Extract the entire contents of rescueusb.iso to any convenient folder, find boot\grub\grub.cfg
and feel free to replace everything that is stated there with

Load_env
source $(kav_cfg_path)/ru.cfg
set kav_lang=ru
set lang=Russian
source $(kav_cfg_path)/kav_menu.cfg

We save the changes and pack them in advance opened by program ultraiso image with file replacement.
Now we need to delete the files that we no longer need, go to boot\grub\cfg
and leave only:

Bg.cfg
boot_from_hard.cfg
kav_menu.cfg
kav_menu_ru.cfg
ru.cfg

We save the image and forget about it like a bad dream.

Now let's take the image rescue.iso and delete the boot folder and the bases folder.
So what do we have in the end?
The entire KRD with databases takes no more than 350 meters, taking into account updates
The databases are saved on a flash drive in a separate folder and do not interfere with our lives
The entire creation process takes about 30 minutes.
No unnecessary folders after updating KRD It turns out there are folder files that simply take up disk space.

All files and folders are located in the folder %name of flash drive (disk)%/Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10.0
1)report
2)qb
3)dskm_rd
4)data_rd/updater
5)You can delete all update and scan reports.

Due to the peculiarities of Kaspersky Rescue Disk, the system (KRD) may not boot.
