Mozilla how to add express panel. How to add an express panel in Mozilla: tips and tricks. Installing a new add-on

The next update to Mozilla Firefox brought major changes to the interface, adding a special menu button that hides the main sections of the browser. Today we will talk about how this panel can be configured.

Express panel is a special Mozilla Firefox menu in which the user can quickly go to the desired section of the browser. By default, this panel allows you to quickly go to browser settings, open history, launch the browser in full screen, and much more. Depending on the user's requirements, unnecessary buttons from this express panel can be removed by adding new ones.

How to set up the Express Panel in Mozilla Firefox?

1. Open the Express Panel by clicking on the browser menu button. In the lower area of the window, click the button "Change" .

2. The window will be divided into two parts: in the left area there are buttons that can be added to the express panel, and in the right area, accordingly, the express panel itself.

3. In order to remove unnecessary buttons from the express panel, hold down the unnecessary button with the mouse and drag it to the left area of the window. Exactly the opposite happens when adding buttons to the express panel.

4. Below is a button "Show/Hide Panels" . By clicking on it, you can control two panels on the screen: the menu bar (appears in the very top area of the browser, containing the buttons “File”, “Edit”, “Tools”, etc.), as well as the bookmarks bar (under the address bar browser bookmarks will be located).

By spending a few minutes setting up the Express Panel, you can completely personalize Mozilla Firefox to your tastes, making your browser a little more convenient.

Instructions

Launch the Mozilla Firefox browser - you will already have at least one tab open. At your choice, this tab can be an empty white form, or a web page designated as your home page, or even several pages at once - then when you start the browser, the corresponding number of tabs will open. In addition, it is possible to set an express panel with visual bookmarks as the start page (new tab). So first, analyze your situation and decide which of the possible setup options would be most preferable for you.

Don't leave a blank tab as your start page if you intend to visit a lot of the same URLs very often. Indeed, in this case, to go to your favorite sites, you will have to type these URLs manually each time, or look for the necessary links in bookmarks and magazines, or even use a web search. In this case, it would be much more advisable to set as the start page (new tab) express panel developed for Mozilla Firefox. Find more detailed information on existing modifications of express panels (user reviews, installation and settings tips) on the Internet.

Do not waste your time and computer resources on installing, configuring and operating an express panel with numerous visual bookmarks if you regularly visit only a couple of sites on the Internet. In this case, it is better to designate them as home pages. When you launch the browser and/or when you click on the “Home” button, they will all open at once - each site in a separate tab, and rare transitions to other links can be done from a blank page using ordinary means.

Make the necessary changes to the Mozilla Firefox settings. Open the browser menu - it is called up by the orange button at the top left. Click on the "Settings" item. In the window that appears, start with the “Basic Settings” group - in it, specify the address(es) of the home page, and also select the most optimal option for displaying tabs when starting the browser. If you don't know how to do this, click on the "Help" button in the lower right corner of the settings window.

Go to the next group of settings - “Tabs”. To find your preferred options, review the help information. Check all the required boxes and click OK to save your settings.

Download the add-on you like. Typically, you will need to restart your browser after the installation process is complete.

Mozilla Firevox is the most popular of all existing browsers among Internet users, it is very convenient and fast, but there is still one minor drawback.

This browser does not contain an express launcher, as such, there is only a top line of bookmarks, but it is not always convenient to use. I would still like to have a full-fledged express line.

But this is no longer a huge problem, since thanks to various applications and some settings, almost any user of this web browser can configure it.

Fast Dial

The most popular plugin for installing express launch is Fast Dial. As follows. Nine mini-windows appear on the main page with thumbnails of the pages that the user has previously selected.

But if a browser user clicks on one of the windows, he will be taken not just to the site, but to a specific page that was set in the settings.

Installing a new add-on

So, launch your web surfer, enter addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/ in the address bar (you can also simply find the “Add-ons” line in the Mozila Firefox settings). Next we see the search bar, in it you need to write the name of the add-on, namely Fast Dial.

After you find this extension, you will then need to click on it and select the “Add to Mozila Firefox” button. The last thing to do is to restart your web browser, this will be required for the changes to take effect.

Setting up express launch in Mozilla Firefox

After you have restarted your web surfer, you need to select the “+” icon (that is, the add a new tab icon), you can also hold down two keys on the keyboard Ctrl + T, after which nine mini-windows should appear on the main screen.

Now you need to configure your launch pages (this means writing down the addresses that you visit most often). In order to add a page to Quick Launch, you will need to do the following:

  1. We go to the site that you visit most often, copy the site address.
  2. Now you need to open the launcher, find a free window and click on it.
  3. A window should appear with the words “Address”, you will need to insert a link to the site, and if you wish, you can fill out other fields, such as “Title”, “Description”, but this is completely optional.
  4. After you have inserted the address, you must confirm your actions and hold down the “OK” key.

Enlarge or reduce mini-windows

To change the number of mini-windows that are visible in Quick Start, you will need:

  1. Launch the Mozilla Firefox web browser, find the menu, find the “Tools” section there, click on “Add-ons” there.
  2. A panel with an "Extensions" button should appear. Find the required extension, click on it, find “Settings”.
  3. In these settings there should be a line “Quantity”, here you select the quantity (the number of windows can be selected horizontally, vertically).
  4. There you can adjust their size.

Another application for installing an express panel is Speed Dial. The principle of its operation is the same as the Fast Dial application, which was described above. But more interesting.

Update from 01/28/16
Recently, sites have appeared on the Internet whose domain is located in the Russian Federation zone, that is, the address of such a site is written not in Latin letters, but in Cyrillic letters, after the Cyrillic domain there is a dot, then the letters рф
For example: http://megaservicespb.rf/
Many Internet browsers, programs and services do not understand the new Cyrillic zone.рф. To work correctly, they recode Russian letters into the so-called Punycode.
If you write such a Cyrillic address in the site address bar when setting up the express panel, then when you open the site by clicking on the filled cell, an error will occur.
In order for programs and services to know what Cyrillic domains in Latin letters actually look like, there is a certain service, the active link to which looks like:
https://2ip.ru/punycode/
If necessary, use this service, open it using the link.
Enter the Cyrillic address in the “Domain” field and click the “Translate” button.
Copy the resulting code in Latin characters and enter it into the site address bar when setting up the express panel.

Mozilla (as the Mozilla Firefox browser is often called) is one of the most popular programs. This is the only browser that is a prototype operating system for mobile devices. Mozilla is not heavy on the system and supports many plugins that expand its capabilities.

Mozilla Firefox has a bookmarks bar, but, unfortunately, it does not have its own full-fledged express panel. When you add a new tab, 9 windows appear, where the browser selectively places thumbnail bookmarks of frequently visited sites, but you cannot customize such a panel at your discretion, as in Opera. You can only pin or completely delete pages that have already been added automatically.

You can fully use the express panel in Mozilla only by installing a special extension (plugin) - Fast Dial. The panel displays 9 mini-windows with thumbnails of the user's favorite sites. By clicking on such a window, the user quickly goes not just to the selected site, but to its specific page (depending on the setting). As an example, let's try to set up an express panel in Mozilla using the Fast Dial plugin.
