There is a Wi-Fi+ function that offers a more stable and optimized connection. The model supports LTE Cat6 networks. There are no problems with the sound, since the interlocutor can be heard very well. The speaker performs well, and in the headphones you can adjust the equalizer settings to get the optimal result.

Design, assembly, ease of use

Honor 8 Lite has common features with, but at the same time it looks much simpler. If Honor 8, without exaggeration, fascinated with its design and gracefully shone with its glass back cover, especially in dark versions of the case, then Honor 8 Lite simply does not look bad, but it is impossible to compare it with the “older” model, devices of different price categories. Honor 8 Lite is available in Russia in white, gold, blue and black.
The front side is completely covered with protective 2.5D glass without an oleophobic coating, and yes, you understood correctly that you will have to stock up on napkins to wipe it off without any problems. Above the display is the speaker grille, front camera, light and proximity sensors, below is the Huawei logo, which is barely noticeable in the “gold” version.

The back side is also covered with protective 2.5D glass without an oleophobic coating, but in this case it can be justified, the smartphone lies confidently in the hand and, one might say, “clings” to the hand. On the “back” of Honor 8 Lite there is a peephole for the main camera, a single-color LED flash, a fingerprint scanner, which is located very conveniently, the finger immediately rests on it by itself.
The Honor 8 Lite has a plastic frame, although at first glance you can’t tell that it’s a decent imitation. At the top end there is a 3.5 mm Mini-Jack for headphones, at the bottom there is Micro-USB for charging and synchronization, but I think it’s time to install USB Type-C, it’s very convenient; On the sides of the “old” connector there is a speaker and two perforations, under the right of which is the speaker itself, and under the left is a microphone.

The right side received a lock key and a volume rocker, and the left side received a “hybrid” SIM slot.

The case dimensions are standard for a smartphone with a 5.2″ screen diagonal - 147.2 x 72.94 x 7.6 mm, and the assembly and fit of the elements is precise, nothing creaks or presses through.

Display

Honor 8 Lite received a high-quality 5.2″ IPS matrix with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. The matrix is not bad, but by default it is noticeably yellow, but this can be immediately calibrated from the display settings menu. One useful feature is the “eye protection” function.
The viewing angles are maximum, the brightness margin is good, there is even a high-brightness mode in bright sunshine. For the first time in a long time, I can complain about the work of the adaptive brightness control; it works abruptly, sometimes fluctuating, increasing and decreasing the brightness at the same intensity of external lighting.

Camera

The camera interface and the number of shooting modes are noticeably simplified compared to the company's flagship models.

Honor 8 Lite is equipped with a camera module with a resolution of 12 MP and optics with an f/2.2 aperture. The pictures are good, but the dynamic range in room lighting leaves much to be desired, and the f/2.2 aperture will not allow you to take excellent macro shots.

As for video shooting, the maximum available FullHD mode is 30 frames per second, the main problem is that there is no stabilization of any kind.

The front camera has an 8 megapixel module without autofocus, but slightly lighter f/2.0 optics, which allows you to take good pictures even in room lighting; in general, it’s quite enough for social networks.

Performance

Honor 8 Lite runs on an 8-core 64-bit HiSilicon Kirin 655 processor, which is built on a 16nm process technology, has a Mali-T830 MP2 graphics accelerator, 4 gigabytes of RAM and 32 gigabytes of internal memory are available. It is equipped with the same combination, only with less RAM, so the new Honor 8 Lite works a little faster thanks to optimization of the shell and the operating system as a whole. Loading it with everyday tasks is an impossible mission.

As for games, World of Tanks: Blitz runs fine at medium-high settings at 40-50 frames per second, and with other games like Modern Combat 5, Asphalt 8, etc. no problems at all.

Software

Honor 8 Lite runs on the latest Android 7.0 software and its own EMUI 5.0 shell, which is nice. EMUI is one of the fastest, most stable and convenient shells for Android, and we will do a detailed review of it when the Huawei P10 arrives, and I hope it will be soon.

Autonomy

A 3000 mAh battery allows the Honor 8 Lite to last a stable day and a half with intensive use. You can discharge it in one day, but you will have to play “heavy” games for two or three hours.

Fingerprint scanner

The fingerprint scanner of Honor 8 Lite works 10 out of 10 with dry, clean hands.
As standard, for Huawei smartphones you can swipe on the fingerprint scanner to open and close the notification shade, scroll through photos in the gallery, receive calls and take pictures.

Sound

The sound of the earpiece speaker is loud and clear, the main speaker is simple, does not have any special sound quality, the volume is average. The sound in the headphones is traditionally weak for budget devices.

Impressions from Honor 8 Lite

Impressions from Honor 8 Lite are positive - it has a high level of performance, attractive design, good battery life, and a good camera for its price.

Honor 8 Lite is an excellent solution in its price segment, but it’s difficult to call it the best, because for the same money there are others, each has its own pros and cons, and the choice is always yours
The disadvantages of Honor 8 Lite include the lack of an oleophobic coating; wiping such a display from fingerprints is not the most pleasant experience.

How to distinguish an inexpensive smartphone from an expensive one? Firstly, in terms of design - budget models are very vaguely reminiscent of flagships or do not resemble them at all. Secondly, in terms of saving on case materials - plastic serves as an imitation of everything from glass to metal.

And finally, on the cunning combination of fillings. It is selected in such a way that the owner is constantly upset that he underpaid for a model of a higher class, and ended up buying a flagship. Therefore, Honor 8 Lite is surprising, because it is a glass smartphone with a high-quality processor and a camera for just over 15 thousand rubles. Let's dig deeper and figure out if everything is so good?

"I'm beautiful and I know it"

I remember not so long ago, enthusiasts persistently demanded metal cases in mobile phones. And they achieved their goal - in a few years such models turned from luxury into commonplace. Therefore, it is unlikely that anyone today will be tempted by aluminum panels in a new smartphone.

And glass smartphones like Honor 8 Lite are easy! Even the strict black version is looked at by owners of smartphones of different prices - next to the “saucepan” classmates, our hero looks disproportionately more expensive.

Curved 2.5D glass on both sides hugs the thin body, while the sides are matte to ensure the smartphone always fits securely in the palm of your hand. And the keys are also comfortable - they are of medium size and are located where they should be.

No black frames around the screen, no protruding rear cameras - for all its piano-like shine, Honor 8 Lite is designed very practically. The blue version also “plays with colors” under the sun’s rays.

It’s also worth considering that the smartphone body does not contain eccentricities and experiments that are usually endowed with flagship models, so the appearance of the “light version” of Honor 8 will not become outdated even after a few years. Except that the micro-USB connector instead of USB-C doesn’t let us forget that this is still an affordable model.

“Properly prepared” Full HD display

The Honor 8 Lite's display displays 1920x1080 pixels, which is standard for mid-range phones, and even many flagships. Expensive smartphones today also offer Quad HD, but this is not a huge phablet, but a model with a diagonal of only 5.2 inches - in such an area the image looks very clear.

The LTPS display of our hero is able to compete even with IPS matrices of smartphones of a higher class - in terms of brightness, contrast or color accuracy, for example.

It’s very nice that the display is able to adapt to work in the sun (increased clarity) and spare the owner’s eyes when the smartphone is used in the dark (eye protection mode).

The latest Android and lots and lots of memory

Well, 4 GB of RAM in an inexpensive smartphone is still a luxury. Even the flagships of 2017, which are several times more expensive than our hero, are still content with the same amount of RAM.

What do these same 4 gigabytes give to an affordable smartphone? Freedom to open as many apps as you like and instantly switch between them! And a good reserve for the future - new versions of Android and new applications will require more memory over time, and 3 GB will soon become insufficient.

The internal storage is also in perfect order - 32 GB is enough for both applications and games. Moreover, the smartphone can install a memory card with a capacity of up to 128 GB.

The processor in Honor 8 Lite is successful - the Kirin 655 “turns” eight Cortex-A53 cores at a very high frequency, and Mali-T830 MP2 graphics are responsible for economical playback of videos and games.

This set is enough for chatting in instant messengers, watching videos, quickly navigating websites and any games. At the same time, the smartphone never overheats, because the processor is manufactured “according to the latest fashion” in new factories using the 16 nm process technology.

To top it off, all this hardware is managed by the new Android 7 Nougat - the fastest, most economical and secure Android ever.

With a smart energy saving mode, very convenient zoom settings for any vision and good anti-virus protection.

Honor has supplemented the standard functionality with the ability to set a password to enter applications, a “black list” of messages and calls, and many other innovations. A smartphone “with finishing” is nice!

Better one good camera than two bad ones

You don’t expect outstanding pictures from a smartphone in which the manufacturer has spent money on hardware and body design. It’s all the more surprising that the Lite version has the same rear Sony IMX86 sensor as in the original, more expensive Honor 8!

With such “equipment”, our hero becomes one of the best camera phones in the class under 20 thousand rubles - very fast phase focusing, correct color rendition, smart “automation”, correct operation of the noise reduction system.

Even beginners can take beautiful photos. And for gourmets, Honor 8 Lite has manual shooting modes (even a manual video shooting mode with a bunch of settings!), many color filters and many more options for different types of shooting - from food to documents.

Even beginners can take beautiful photos. And for gourmets, Honor 8 Lite has manual shooting modes (even a manual video shooting mode with a bunch of settings!), many color filters and many more options for different types of shooting - from food to documents.

The front camera is pleasing because there is a lot of it - as many as 8 megapixels and a shooting angle of 77°, for clear wide-screen self-portraits. There is also a beauty mode that is useful in some cases.

Two days of autonomy in mixed mode

At first glance, 3000 mAh is by no means a sensational battery capacity in modern times. But the Kirin 655 is a very balanced processor, and Android 7.0 saves energy whenever possible.

Therefore, the 5.2-inch Honor 8 Lite easily works for a couple of days in mixed mode.

This is an excellent result for a smartphone with a body thickness of 7.6 mm!

Escorted according to the mind

At first it seemed to us that the essence of Honor 8 Lite would have to be justified with the phrase “... but it’s beautiful!”, but in reality the smartphone is good not only in appearance, but also in its internals.

Let’s bend our fingers: a glass, very expensive-looking mobile phone with 4 GB of RAM, an 8-core processor, Android Nougat out of the box, a bright Full HD display, a “thoroughbred” camera and 3000 mAh for a 5.2-inch display (which gives we have 2 days of autonomy) for 15.9 thousand rubles.

Do you know many smartphones that are equally impressive and at the same time affordable? Unfortunately, there are vanishingly few of them, and not all of them can be called modern.

It is worth admitting that Honor has “embraced the immensity” for the third time (since Honor 4C and Honor 8) and created an inexpensive model that has practically no competitors. We recommend Honor 8 Lite to everyone who chooses a beautiful and inexpensive smartphone without skimping on technical specifications.

The Honor brand, owned by the eminent company Huawei, is gaining momentum every year. The products of this manufacturer have become popular due to the combination of good performance, reliability and attractive appearance, while the price often remains affordable. More recently, the Chinese showed the world an interesting device, Honor 8 Lite, which occupies a place in the niche of middle-class devices. Although this is a simplified modification of the Honor 8 model presented much earlier, it has something to offer the buyer. Therefore, let's review Huawei Honor 8 lite and look at this new product in more detail to understand what it is.

Technical characteristics of Honor 8 Lite:

  • 5.2-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels;
  • eight-core Kirin 655 processor;
  • Mali-T830 MP2 graphics accelerator;
  • 3 GB RAM;
  • 16 GB of internal memory;
  • support for microSD memory cards;
  • 12-megapixel main camera with f/2.0 aperture;
  • 8 megapixel front camera;
  • two slots for SIM cards with support for 4G LTE;
  • Fingerprint's scanner;
  • battery with a capacity of 3,000 mAh;
  • OS: Android 7.0 Nougat;

Packaging and equipment

By tradition, we begin our review of the Huawei Honor 8 lite smartphone with the configuration. A fresh middling is for sale in a neat white box, the inside of which slides out. The internal contents are standard. The manufacturer has equipped its product with all the necessary things, and that’s great. We get the following set:

  • plastic cover on the body;
  • SIM card extractor;
  • modest charging at 5V/1A;
  • microUSB cable;
  • waste paper.

Appearance, materials and display Honor 8 Lite

Huawei Honor 8 lite 32 GB review showed that it is very similar to other smartphones from the manufacturer. Even with a stretch, the appearance of the hero of our review cannot be called unique; everything is quite trivial. But this does not make Honor 8 Lite any less pleasant in appearance. For an inexpensive device, everything is very nice. The back here is not metal, but glass.

Thanks to this design decision, associations arise with the model one step higher in the line. Huawei Honor 8 lite 32 GB review made it clear that the back panel is equipped with curved edges, as 2.5D technology is used. The same form of glass is used on the front plane, but with a less pronounced effect. There is a plastic frame running along the ends of the case, which at first can be mistaken for metal, but this is not so.

The device fits perfectly in the palm of your hand and is comfortable to use. Compact dimensions and low weight contribute to this. However, it is better to use it in a case. This way, firstly, you will save yourself from constantly cleaning the back side, since it is very soiled, and, secondly, you will make the gadget not so slippery in your hand.

The model is offered in four color options - gold, white, black and gorgeous blue. We reviewed the Huawei Honor 8 lite 32gb on the white version.

On the front panel at the bottom there is a brand logo, and above the screen the space is occupied by a speaker hole for conversations, a front-facing peephole, a notification indicator and sensors.

The back cover is topped with the main photo module lens and a single LED flash. Just below you can see the circle of the fingerprint reader, which practically does not make mistakes and works very quickly. You can assign various useful functions to it. The review of the Huawei Honor 8 lite 32 smartphone revealed that a microUSB connector, a loudspeaker speaker and a microphone are inserted into the bottom end.

On the top there is a 3.5 mm output and a noise canceling hole.

The right side contains a classic pair of buttons for volume control and power, and the left side has a tray with a double nanoSIM slot.

It is also possible to install a microSD card up to 128 GB, but you have to sacrifice one of the SIM cards for this. The weight of Honor 8 Lite does not exceed 147 g, the proportions of the smartphone are 147.2 x 72.9 x 7.6 mm.

Honor 8 Lite display

Huawei Honor 8 lite black review moves on to its display. The screen here is equipped with an LTPS matrix with Full HD resolution. Of course, there is no air gap. The display size is 5.2 inches. It’s good that recently more and more smartphones are equipped with such a diagonal, since it is very convenient, and at the same time it cannot be called small. Huawei Honor 8 lite 32gb gold review confirmed that it supports 10 touch points simultaneously.

The brightness is sufficient for sunny weather, the minimal backlight is also comfortable. The contrast of the picture is pleasing to the eye, the color temperature can be adjusted. But the oleophobic coating of the front glass leaves much to be desired; it simply isn’t there. Our Huawei Honor 8 lite 32gb black review did not reveal any other display deficiencies.

Technical features, sound and autonomy of Honor 8 Lite

Huawei Honor 8 lite smartphone black review moves on to the most interesting part - performance. The basis for the hardware component of the device was the Kirin 655 chipset, built on eight cores up to 2.1 GHz. Honor 8 lite characteristics provide good opportunities for games, and even more so there will be no problems with everyday use. Graphics processing work is assigned to the Mali-T830 MP2 accelerator. This processor is not a top processor, but it is not a weakling either. In AnTuTu, the Honor 8 Lite model was able to score a solid 62 thousand points.

The user has access to 4 GB of RAM and flash storage with a capacity of 32 GB, of which about 11 GB is occupied. You won't be able to fully enjoy gaming on the Honor 8 Lite. In heavy games you will need medium graphics settings; the existing accelerator can handle maximum settings with great difficulty or not at all. The device heats up under intense loads, but is quite tolerable. This is not surprising, because the Huawei Honor 8 lite specifications are quite powerful.

Before buying a smartphone, it is worth considering that the version for the Middle Kingdom AL00 differs from the modification TL10, officially sold in Russia, in the almost complete absence of our 4G frequencies. The new product is equipped with connectivity tools such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. Connection to GPS and GLONASS satellites occurs in a matter of seconds. Those who like to listen to FM radio will be pleased with the availability of this option. The OTG function has not gone away either, which allows you to connect an external flash drive.

There are no questions about the quality of voice transmission, everything is at the proper level. The external speaker sounds quite pleasant and does not cause irritation. But it is not designed for listening to music, since the low frequencies are not enough. The sound in the headphones doesn't really stand out, but most people will probably like it; the maximum volume threshold is sufficient. In general, the characteristics of the Huawei Honor 8 lite smartphone are good, considering its price.

Autonomy Honor 8 Lite

A 3000 mAh battery provides good battery life on a single charge. Yes, there are phones with more capacious batteries, but it’s not just about the capacity. The energy efficiency of the processor has a big impact, and this is exactly what it is here. The only thing we can complain about is the lack of fast charging.

The process of replenishing energy takes a long time because the kit comes with only a 1A unit, but it can be replaced with an adapter with a current of 1.5A. Huawei Honor 8 lite technical characteristics and prices make it an interesting offer for those who want to get a suitable device at an affordable price. You can also read the Huawei honor 8 lite black smartphone reviews from owners, in which users express their experience of using the gadget.

Software part of Honor 8 Lite

Huawei Honor 8 lite 32gb specifications ensure smooth operation of the interface and no slowdowns. This phone is software based on Android 7.0 OS. Of course, the factory shell from the manufacturer EMUI is preinstalled, and firmware version 5.0 is available to the owner out of the box. The external interface is pleasing to the eye, everything can be easily understood, all points are thought out. A review of the Huawei Honor 8 lite phone showed that there are many settings available, thanks to which you can customize the design to suit yourself.

There are also features of the “seventh” Android. For example, you can divide the screen into two parts to use two applications at the same time. Virtual navigation buttons can be swapped if someone is not satisfied with their original position. System updates arrive periodically; to do this, you need to use the corresponding item in the settings.

Cameras

The Honor 8 lite camera review made it clear that it’s a sin to complain about the photo capabilities. For its money, the smartphone takes pictures, one might say, excellently. The main module uses a 12 megapixel sensor, with aperture equal to f/2.2. There is both manual and automatic mode. The camera interface is not overloaded with adjustments, but does not look poor either. The camera's arsenal includes tracking focus and fast shooting. During the day, photos are colorful and have good detail. Shades are reproduced reliably. Phase autofocus performs its functions well, pleasing with high speed.

The situation is no worse with macro photography, fortunately the optics support a focal length of 7-8 cm. In poor lighting, the result deteriorates, but not significantly. The flash, although single, shines brightly and illuminates the frame correctly. The main module records video in 1080p with stereo sound, the frequency is 30 fps. The videos come out of good quality, but the lack of stabilization still has a negative impact. The front camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels and a capture angle of 77 degrees.

Example photo:

Conclusion

The device looks decent for its price. The Chinese saved only on the plastic edging of the case, a weak charger and an oleophobic layer of the front glass. In all other respects, Honor 8 Lite evokes positive emotions. We get a nice design, a good camera, a good display and decent performance, which is enough to recommend this device for purchase. The asking price is about 16 thousand rubles. Reviews of the Huawei Honor 8 lite 32gb smartphone will help you finally decide on your choice.
