Open calculator from the program list

As a result, you will see a calculator window in which you can make the necessary calculations.

Open calculator via system command

Enter the combination on the keyboard Win+R, as a result of which the system window will be displayed Execute.

In it, enter the text “ calc.exe" (without quotes), and then press the key Enter. As a result, the calculator window will open.

Another pleasant innovation was the ability to automatically open the desktop when Windows 8.1 boots. To turn on this function you need to right-click on an empty space on the taskbar:

1. Using the Run program

• Right click on Windows icon(in place of the “Start” button) and select the “Run” command from the menu. Or press the combination Windows + R on your keyboard.

• In the “Open” line of the “Run” application, enter the command “ calc” and click OK.

The calculator will launch.

2. Through Windows search

The search feature in Windows 8 is available from several places:

• from the context menu of the “Windows” button (“Start”) – the “Find” item;

• from the Charms panel, which appears on the right side of the screen if you move the cursor to the upper or lower right corner or press Windows + C on the keyboard;

• from the home screen (magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner);

• from any Windows Explorer folder.

In the search bar, as in the previous case, enter the command calc and launch the found application.

Windows 8 has not one, as before, but two calculators: a standard one (the one that was in the “All Programs -> Accessories” folder in Windows 7) and a full-screen one - a new metro application.

3. From the application list

From your desktop, press the Windows key or click the Start icon to get to the Start screen. Click on the arrow button at the bottom of the window - this will take you to the “Applications” section.

• The “Applications” section is a list of all programs installed on the computer. It looks different from Windows 7, but it displays the same thing, so you're unlikely to get confused. As you can see, it contains two calculators - a standard one (in our example, it is located in the Accessories category) and a full-screen one (in the “Tools” category).

The full-screen calculator is more convenient to use on mobile devices, standard – on computers.

4. Through Windows 8 Explorer

Application calc.exe is located in the C:Windowssysem32 folder. If you wish, you can run it directly from there.

The executable file of the full-screen calculator, like other Windows 8 metro applications, is located in the hidden C:Program FilesWindowsApps directory. Access to this directory is restricted for security and system stability reasons.

5. Using a shortcut

If you use the calculator frequently, you will find it convenient to launch it as a shortcut from the desktop or from the taskbar.

To create a shortcut, open the file location (C:WindowsSystem32), call the context menu calc.exe and select “Create shortcut” from it.

Confirm that you agree to place the shortcut on your desktop.

Launch the calculator by double clicking on the shortcut.

They will be useful to those who need to carry out calculus of trigonometric functions. Moreover, the measurement scale here is presented in several units of measurement, including degrees, grads, radians.

In statistics mode there are additional buttons. They can be useful in specific cases of calculus. However, there are keys here that can be used for standard calculations, for example, CAD - deleting all numbers that have already been entered; using C you can correct the previous value.

The programmer mode is quite advanced compared to a regular calculator. Not only can you set the number system you need here, you can also specify the bytes contained in the number. In order to work in the hexadecimal number system, new buttons were added to the application. Thus, the calculator actively uses the keys from A to F. In addition, using the () button, you can open and close parentheses.

Special buttons allow you to rotate to the right or left. The Windows 8 calculator has keys that allow you to do modulo calculations or other actions. The program has a large selection of a wide variety of calculations, which are simplified as much as possible for the average user.

As you can see, the Calculator in Windows 8 is a simple but indispensable tool. It is used for a wide variety of purposes. Moreover, the application can be used both for elementary calculations and for complex examples that will be needed only in certain areas. For convenience, it is better to initially fix the application in home screen. This can be done with just a few mouse clicks, as has already been written about. Thus, the program will always be at hand and will allow you to make even the most complex calculations in a matter of minutes.

I want to dedicate my first post this year to the Windows 8 operating system. At the end of 2013, I decided to give myself a gift - I bought new laptop, on which, of course, Windows 8 was already preinstalled.

And immediately a problem arose - where is the calculator in Windows 8?
