  • iPhone XS 512 GB - 118,990 rubles

iPhone XS - new iPhone 2018: Design

In appearance, the iPhone XS is not much different from its predecessor, the iPhone X. The front and back surfaces of the smartphone are covered with a new generation of protective tempered glass. According to Apple, the glass in the iPhone XS is the most durable ever used in a smartphone. True, crash tests have already proven that glass continued to remain glass. If the iPhone XS is dropped from arm's length onto a hard surface, the glass is likely to crack. As for collecting scratches, during the first days of using the iPhone XS without a case, no incidents occurred. There weren't even micro scratches on the case.

The glass is connected by a stainless steel frame. Note that some users complained that the frame would peel off over time. However, there were very few such reviews. And the frames of the iPhone X in our editorial office remained in perfect condition.

The shape of the iPhone XS case has not changed in principle. The body is slightly rounded at the corners, in the traditional style of Apple smartphones. Due to the minimal display frames, the body looks slightly elongated. But the dimensions of the iPhone XS are not huge because of this. They are 143.6x70.9x7.7 mm. The figure is identical to the iPhone X.

Almost the entire front surface of the iPhone XS is occupied by the display. There are minimal frames left on the sides and bottom. The top frame is much more noticeable, but is cut off on the sides. Yes, Apple has decided not to give up the “unibrow” yet. According to rumors, the company will do this in 2019.

The top end of the iPhone XS case is empty. On the right is the power button, on the left are the volume buttons and the sound mode switch. At the bottom end there are speaker grilles and a classic Lightning connector. Despite some rumors, the transition to USB-C did not take place.

The new iPhone XS is very similar to the iPhone X, but Apple still distinguished the model from its predecessor. iPhone XS will be released in three body colors (iPhone X came out in only two): silver, gray and brand new gold. The new gold color has not really been used by the company in any of the devices before. Compared to “regular” gold, the new color is much more saturated. Each color is applied to the body using a unique PVD coating method, which creates a glossy effect.

The experience of using the iPhone XS is no different from the iPhone X, of course, if you switch from one smartphone to another. The brand new iPhone XS is in your hand and no novelty is felt. And where would it come from if the design and even dimensions of the smartphones are identical. If you switch to the iPhone XS from earlier Apple smartphones, which are still made in the old design, then there will be a lot of emotions from the new product. You will also be surprised by the unusual gestures that allow you to control your smartphone without the Home button, the display on the entire front surface, and the glass back surface.

Display

iPhone XS features a full-screen 5.8-inch Super Retina HD OLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display resolution is 1125x2436 pixels (pixel density per inch - 463 ppi). The iPhone X has a similar figure. This means that developers will not have to update their applications specifically for the iPhone XS.

The iPhone XS screen covers 81.4% of the front surface of the smartphone. Apple managed to achieve this result by reducing the frames around the perimeter of the display.

The iPhone XS display brightness is 625 cd/m² - an excellent indicator for OLED displays. The image on the smartphone will be perfectly visible outside on a bright sunny day. The screen supports Apple's proprietary True Tone technology, which automatically adjusts the display temperature depending on the light level. The iPhone XS display contrast is 1,000,000:1.

Despite numerous rumors, support for 3D Touch in the smartphone has not disappeared. iPhone XS recognizes pressure on the display, like previous models starting with iPhone 6s. Let us remind you that according to rumors, Apple intends to abandon 3D Touch technology in the future.

The iPhone XS display also supports HDR10 and DolbyVision. Support for the expanded P3 color format is also here to stay - it’s what makes the iPhone XS display so bright and saturated.

Sound

Apple engineers paid special attention to the sound of the iPhone XS. The stereo speakers of the smartphone began to sound 50% louder compared to the iPhone X. The company specifically wanted to achieve this result, since support for Dolby Vision and HDR formats will allow iPhone XS owners to enjoy movies not only with a high-quality, rich picture, but also with surround sound.

Characteristics

The 5.8-inch iPhone XS is powered by Apple's revolutionary A12 Bionic processor. Its main feature is the technological process by which it is created. TSMC used the 7-nanometer FinFET process to create the A12 Bionic processor. For comparison, the iPhone X is powered by the A11 Bionic chip, which is made using a 10nm process technology.

iPhone XS became the first smartphone in the world equipped with a processor created using the 7nm process technology. Moreover, competitors will not soon catch up with Apple. Currently, only TSMC is capable of producing such processors - other companies have problems. Because of this, the appearance of new generation chips in Android smartphones will occur only in 2019.

The A12 Bionic includes a six-core computing processor. Four chip cores are responsible for efficiency, the remaining two for performance. When iPhone XS performs a complex task, such as running a heavy game or application, the performance cores are activated at full capacity. They are also assisted by energy efficient cores. Thanks to this, even complex tasks are completed instantly.

But if the most common everyday tasks are performed on the iPhone XS, then exclusively energy-efficient cores work. Their power is enough to very quickly launch applications, move between them, etc. without spending a lot of energy. This system allows the iPhone XS to spend significantly less resources. Up to 50% less than iPhone X.

The system on the A12 Bionic chip integrates a quad-core graphics processor, which was also developed by Apple. Its key feature is support for lossless data compression technology. It opens up completely new possibilities for both users and developers.

The third important component of the system on the A12 Bionic chip is the second generation Neural Engine machine learning module. It is capable (and constantly does so) of executing five trillion commands per second. This phenomenal performance allows the A12 Bionic processor to self-learn much faster. What this all means for the user is that iOS 12 features that use machine learning data perform better. For example, the search for photos in the Photos app begins even before a person enters a query.

What does the new A12 Bionic processor, made using completely new technology, give to the iPhone XS? Productive power! iPhone XS is the fastest smartphone in history. It took over this title from its predecessor, the iPhone X, and immediately moved ahead.

iPhone XS is up to 70% faster than iPhone X thanks to a new processor. Increased productivity is evident in literally everything. iPhone XS opens apps and games faster, performs complex operations, encodes videos, and more. The difference in operating speed is visible to the naked eye. It is noteworthy that the iPhone X felt like a perfectly fast smartphone. However, Apple has clearly proven that the iPhone can be even faster.

In synthetic tests, the iPhone XS easily outperformed the previous leader, the iPhone X. In single-core testing mode, the difference was not the greatest - 4835 points versus 4320. The flagships of other companies were significantly inferior to the iPhone XS.

The front surface of the iPhone XS will be almost completely covered by a 5.8-inch OLED display with minimal frames. The top frame, like the iPhone X, will be cut off on the sides. According to some leaks, the bezels around the iPhone XS display may be reduced, but barely noticeably. On the back of the iPhone XS we will see the same dual vertical camera with flash.

The 6.5-inch iPhone XS will receive an identical design - tempered glass panels, a connecting frame made of surgical steel, a frameless full-format display with a “monobrow” and a double vertical camera. However, the 6.5-inch model will surprise, quite obviously, with its size.

The 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be Apple's smartphone with the largest display ever. At the same time, the model will not turn out to be a really huge “shovel”. By reducing the display bezels, Apple will be able to squeeze a huge 6.5-inch OLED display into a body with the dimensions of a 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus. This means that the dimensions of the 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be approximately 158.4 x 78.1 x 7.5 mm (most likely a little more).

The new iPhone XS will have a design almost completely identical to the iPhone X - at most, some small details will change, which we will only learn about at the presentation. But what will Apple surprise in terms of design? There is an answer - a new color.

Apple will release the 5.8- and 6.5-inch iPhone XS in a completely new gold color. For clarity, we have posted the official image of the new Apple smartphones, which was accidentally leaked onto the Internet, once again. Apple has never painted any of its smartphones this color before. The difference with the usual gold color, well known to everyone from previous iPhones, is visible to the naked eye.

New gold color, never seen before

In total, the iPhone XS will be released in three colors. The new golden color will be accompanied by “space gray” and silver.

iPhone XS - new iPhone 2018: Display

The new iPhone XS will be equipped with 5.8- and 6.5-inch full-format OLED displays with minimal bezels. The display resolution of the 5.8-inch iPhone XS will be 1125x2436 pixels. The resolution of the enlarged 6.5-inch iPhone XS is 1242×2688 pixels.

Other screen characteristics of the new iPhone XS are unknown. Analysts expect display improvements to be quite dramatic. The 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be hit especially hard. Apple will certainly want to equip its largest iPhone in history with the best display. In addition to the standard increase in brightness, contrast and color spectrum, it is expected that the display will have some unique feature.

Experts are inclined to believe that this feature will be support for ProMotion technology, which allows you to increase the display frequency to 120 Hz. This unique technology is currently supported exclusively on the latest iPad Pro models.

It is also known that Samsung and LG Display will produce displays for the iPhone XS. Most of the orders will be taken over by South Korean competitor Apple.

Face ID 2.0

In 2018, Apple will finally abandon the Touch ID fingerprint scanner. Both the iPhone XS and the inexpensive iPhone 9 ( detailed review) will have support for the highly accurate Face ID facial recognition function. You can find out more about this truly revolutionary development in this article.

Until mid-2018, analysts said that Face ID wouldn't be much improved on the iPhone XS. However, later information was received that the technology would still be improved. The first generation of Face ID creates a map of the user's face using 30,000 points. It is expected that Face ID 2.0 (or Face ID 1.5) will project even more dots onto the face of the owner of the iPhone XS. This will increase the accuracy of the scanner's detection of the user and the overall stability of the function.

Note that the first generation Face ID works almost perfectly. It is with this argument that some analysts predict that Face ID in the iPhone XS will not receive any improvements.

As for the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, the smartphone will not have one. Despite widespread rumors that Apple plans to integrate Touch ID into the display of the new iPhones, the company has no plans to do so. This was reported by the eminent analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Moreover, he emphasized that in 2019 Touch ID will not be built into the screens of Apple smartphones. The company sees this technology as very crude and is betting on Face ID.

iPhone XS - new iPhone 2018: Characteristics

The 5.8- and 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be based on the Apple A12 processor. The chip will be significantly faster than the A11 Bionic. Moreover, insiders said that with the iPhone XS, Apple wants to focus on improving the performance of smartphones.

The Apple A12 chip will work 60-70% faster than the A11 Bionic due to the use of a new technological process in its creation. It is known that the production of the A12 processor will be carried out by TSMC, which will use the 7-nanometer FinFET process to create chips. For comparison, the A11 Bionic chip, which is used in the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, is made using a 10nm process technology.

The performance gain of the A12 chip compared to the A11 will be from 30 to 70%. In addition, the chip is 40% more energy efficient. This means that iPhone XS will be able to work longer without the need to recharge.

iPhone XS vs. iPhone 9

Back in June 2018, testing results for the iPhone XS appeared on the official website of the Geekbench benchmark. Thanks to this, it became known that one of the iPhone XS prototypes scored 4673 points in single-core mode and 10912 points in multi-core mode. These figures are 10-20% higher than the iPhone X.

The RAM capacity of the 5.8- and 6.5-inch iPhone XS will be 4 GB. Thus, the new Apple smartphones will be the first in the line with such a large amount of RAM. Apple, as you know, does not stuff the iPhone with RAM just “to have it.” Definitely, the new iPhone XS needed an increased amount of RAM to successfully perform completely new functions. Experts believe that most of these functions will be related to smartphone cameras in one way or another.

Built-in memory

Apple will release both iPhone XS models with 64, 256 and 512 GB of memory. Thus, the company will double the maximum memory capacity compared to the iPhone X. Previously, no iPhone was equipped with such voluminous storage.

Battery and operating time

The 5.8-inch iPhone XS will be equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 2700-2800 mAh. The 6.5-inch version of the iPhone XS will receive a battery with an increased capacity of 3300-3400 mAh. In both cases, the battery will consist of two cells and is shaped like the letter L. Apple first used this solution in the iPhone X.

For comparison, the iPhone X battery capacity is 2716 mAh. As you can see, the newest 5.8-inch iPhone XS won't see much of a bump in battery capacity. The 6.5-inch iPhone XS will have a significantly increased battery capacity.

However, the battery life of both smartphones will be increased. First of all, this will be affected by the new energy-efficient A12 processor.

Fast and wireless charging

Support for fast and wireless charging technologies appeared in the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. Both technologies will be improved in the new iPhone XS. Firstly, Apple will equip new smartphones with a powerful charging adapter that supports fast charging. The charger power will be 18 W. This adapter will charge your iPhone XS almost twice as fast as using a standard 5W charger.

Please note that the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X do not come with a charger that supports fast charging. In order to use the function, smartphone owners must separately purchase a special adapter.

And secondly, the wireless charging speed of the iPhone XS will be increased. Apple will equip both smartphones with a thicker transmission coil, which is made of copper wire. It has increased power and efficiency, thanks to which the iPhone XS will charge wirelessly faster. Also, using copper wire will solve the problem of excessive heating of the iPhone during wireless charging. It compensates for heat generation and smartphone cases heat up less.

iPhone XS - new iPhone 2018: Cameras

The iPhone XS cameras are, without a doubt, the most intriguing and mysterious component of the new smartphones. It is known for certain that both iPhone XS will be equipped with dual 12-megapixel vertical cameras with six-lens lenses and support for dual optical image stabilization.

On the one hand, the key characteristics of the cameras are revealed and confirmed by leading analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. But additional characteristics that are perhaps of greater interest are still unknown. In particular, there is no information on additional functions of cameras and their new capabilities. And there will definitely be such, and in large numbers. Experts have repeatedly stated this, and the powerful A12 processor with a record 4 GB of RAM directly hints at this.

In other words, despite the fact that almost everything is known about the iPhone XS, and even official images of smartphones have leaked onto the Internet, Apple’s presentation will definitely be interesting.

Stylus support

In the summer of 2018, several leaks immediately indicated that the iPhone XS would have Apple Pencil support. It was reported that the ability to work with a stylus will significantly expand the capabilities of new smartphones. However, later another number of sources denied the previous information. Whether the iPhone XS will have support for the Apple Pencil stylus or not is unknown. Another intrigue.

Dual SIM support

In 2018, Apple will release its first smartphones with dual SIM support. But the company will act selectively. Only the 6.5-inch iPhone XS and the affordable 6.1-inch iPhone 9 will get a second SIM card slot. The 5.8-inch iPhone XS will remain without a second SIM card.

Moreover, the new dual-SIM iPhones will only be released in “select regions,” according to analysts familiar with Apple’s plans. It is noteworthy that it was initially reported that dual-SIM iPhones would be released only in China. Later the wording was changed to “some regions.” Perhaps iPhones with two SIM cards will visit Russia?

Connection

Only one thing is known about the communication capabilities of the iPhone XS - the smartphones will be equipped with 4x4 MIMO antennas. Antennas will significantly improve the throughput of smartphones.

iPhone XS presentation date

The presentation of the iPhone XS will take place September 12, 2018. Apple officially announced the presentation on August 30th. The event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater on the company's new Apple Park campus.

iPhone XS release date

The start of iPhone XS sales will take place approximately 10 days after the presentation. Considering that the presentation of the iPhone XS will take place on September 12, the release date of the iPhone XS is September 21.

This is the most likely launch date for the iPhone XS. True, it is possible that Russia will not be included in the list of countries where the iPhone XS will begin to be sold first - this is normal practice. Most likely, the iPhone XS will reach Russia a week after the global launch.

iPhone XS price

Throughout the year, there have been many different rumors regarding the prices of new Apple smartphones. Some analysts predicted that iPhones would become even more expensive, while others reported price cuts.

  • 5.8-inch iPhone XS - from $800 to $899.
  • 6.5-inch iPhone XS - from $900 to $999.

Thus, Apple will indeed reduce the prices of the new iPhone compared to the iPhone X. In the most positive outcome of events, the 5.8-inch iPhone XS will become cheaper by $200. At worst - by $100.

iPhone XS price in Russia

In Russia, the new iPhone XS will be sold at the following prices:

  • 5.8-inch iPhone 11 with OLED display - from 63,990 rubles to 71,990 rubles.
  • 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Plus with OLED display - from 71,990 rubles to $79,990 rubles.

Note: Please note that the prices presented above include taxes and other Apple costs.

If Kuo’s most optimistic forecast is confirmed, then the 5.8-inch iPhone XS will cost 16,000 rubles cheaper than the iPhone X. In a different scenario, it will cost 8,000 rubles cheaper. In any case, the price of the new iPhone XS will be less than that of Apple's flagship a year earlier. And this cannot but rejoice.

Philipp Schiller at the Apple presentation

Today, September 12, Apple introduced new models of iPhone smartphones and other gadgets. the site talks about how the presentation went, which began at 20:00 Moscow time. Face unlocking, new camera features, animated emojis and high prices - all the details in our material .

The presentation of new iPhones is a whole event not only in the IT world, but also in mass culture, because Apple devices have long turned into objects of cult: some dream about them and are ready to stand in lines for many hours in order to be among the first to buy the desired new product, while others treat them with contempt fans of Steve Jobs are being ridiculed to similar hype. There are, of course, those who are neutral, but, let’s be honest, they are a minority. It's no surprise that Apple's annual presentation of the latest iPhone models is one of the most anticipated events.

This year, the venue for the presentation (which, by the way, coincides with the 10th anniversary of the release of the first iPhone) was the newly opened Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California, where representatives of the world's leading media gathered. Those who were not lucky enough to get into the hall named after the company’s founder, Steve Jobs, could follow the online broadcast of the presentation on several platforms at once. However, some managed to satisfy their interest even before the start of the event, because no matter how hard the company tried to prevent leaks, some of the data about what the new smartphones would be like still ended up online.

iPhone 8 Plus

The screen sizes have not changed - 4.7 and 5.5.

The new iPhone 8 is glass. So was the iPhone 4s.

The A11 processor is the most powerful in iPhone history. It has six computing cores.

New models are not afraid of water.

A separate conversation about the camera: Apple claims that the iPhone 8 has the best video camera among all smartphones in the world. Vertical dual camera, 12 megapixel resolution, 1.8 aperture for the main one and 2.8 for the front one, optical stabilization.

The iPhone 8 Plus camera will be able to darken the background in portrait mode.

The new iPhones will feature wireless charging. And charging will be fast.

Wireless charger

There are stereo speakers.

The new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will support augmented reality (AR).

AR in iPhone 8

$700 for iPhone 8, $900 for iPhone 8 Plus.

It's an iPhone Ten, not an iPhone X, meaning X is pronounced "ten."

Screen resolution- 2436x1125.
Diagonal- 5.8 inches.
Double vertical chamber.
Two colors- black and silver.

The camera is equipped with a special portrait mode that will allow you to take beautiful selfies.

— There is no longer a “Home” button: now the transition to the desktop is carried out with the “swipe up” gesture. To go to the list of applications, you need to do the same swipe - but do not release your finger, but hold it on the screen.

— Welcome to Face ID: unlocking is now done... with your face! The smartphone will create a mathematical model of the face and recognize its owner. It is almost impossible to deceive the device: the iPhone recognizes you even in the dark, and if you change your hairstyle or put on a hat. But if you try to slip a photo into the gadget instead of your face, nothing will work, access will be denied. If you look past the camera, unlocking will not work either. But what about twins? But the twins will have to come up with passwords :) Payment in Apple Pay will also be via FaceID.

It sounds cool, but while Craig Federighi was talking about the miraculous capabilities of the new device, FaceID didn’t work right on stage... Failure.

iPhone X recognizes beard

— You can lock your iPhone by swiping. Siri is called by the Power key. Charging is also wireless.

— Joy for creative people: using the True Depth camera, you can create animated emoji yourself that will repeat the owner’s facial expressions. This was shown using the example of the most famous of the emoji clan - a cheerful poop, which can now be made sad. It turns out that many were waiting for this.

— Prices: from $999 for 64 gigabytes, $1150 for 256 gigabytes.

— The battery in the iPhone X will hold a charge two hours longer than in the iPhone 7.

The first product that Apple presented at the event was the Apple Watch - the most popular watch in the world, ahead of even Rolex.

At the presentation they talked about the new model of the Apple Watch Series 3 and the new watchOS 4 software, which will be available to owners all hours Apple is already September 19th.

Tim Cook unveils Apple Watch

First, the public was shown a video about the new watch model, or more precisely, about how it helps to lead a healthy lifestyle. In the video, by the way, there were phrases in Russian: “Hello, Apple,” “A cyborg is writing to you from Russia,” and “Every day I become a better version of myself.”

What has changed in the new watch model? Much! Now they can be used separately from the smartphone. Receiving calls, reading messages and listening to music via streaming is a piece of cake! The number remains the same. Also, the watch can now track new types of activity: for example, if you are not exercising, and your heart rate suddenly increases, the watch will definitely warn you about this - it will display the heart rate value directly on the home screen. Plus, the watch will learn to track changes in altitude.

All this will become available with the release of the software. Pre-orders will be available starting September 15th.

Tim Cook's commencement speech

The event was opened by Apple CEO Tim Cook, who replaced Steve Jobs in this post. First of all, he said that he loved Steve Jobs' voice (it sounded before the start), and then he talked about what his late friend was like and about Jobs' views on life.

Then news from the life of the company began: about the Apple campus, the Today at Apple program, where everyone is taught photography, programming and other mobile arts. Plus, of course, there was some charity: Tim Cook invited those gathered to donate money to the victims of Hurricane Irma - through iTunes and the App Store.

Then Angela Ahrendts, Senior Vice President of Retail and Internet at Apple, appeared on stage and spoke about the state of sales at the company. Nothing new: Apple is doing great with this.

When will it be possible to buy in Russia

Versions of the premium iPhone with 256 and 512 gigabytes - 98 thousand 990 rubles and 109 990 rubles, respectively. Pre-orders, according to Apple representatives in Russia, can be placed immediately after the presentation, but sales will not start soon.

In other countries, people are already lining up outside Apple Stores.

In 2018, Apple will release three new iPhones at once: the 5.8-inch iPhone 11, the 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Plus and the affordable 6.1-inch iPhone 9. The 5.8-inch iPhone 11 will be the direct successor to the iPhone X, receiving reinforced glass body, frameless full-format OLED display, dual vertical camera with Face ID support and advanced specifications. The presentation date of the new iPhone 11 is September 12, 2018. The iPhone 11 sales start date is the end of September 2018.

In addition to the two flagship models, Apple will present a “cheap” 6.1-inch version of the iPhone with a liquid crystal display (LCD).

The two larger iPhone models will get a dual-SIM slot in some regions where it's in demand. For example, in India and China.

But the prices don't seem so good. Journalists expect that the 6.1-inch device will cost $699-799 - the price range of last year's iPhone 8. Most likely, after the announcement, the smartphone will have to wait longer than usual due to the late start of production.

iPhone 11 - new iPhone 2018

What will the exact name be?

The official name of the new 5.8-inch iPhone 2018 has not yet been confirmed. Most often, the smartphone is called “iPhone 11”, but you should understand that this name is conditional.

In 2017, Apple surprised everyone with the names of the new iPhones. The company skipped the iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus and iPhone 9, presenting the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X at once. This decision, atypical for Apple, calls into question the names of the new generation iPhone. It is possible that Apple will carry out a full-fledged rebranding and after the release of the anniversary iPhone X, it will begin to call its smartphones in a new way.

However, now the new iPhone 2018 is usually called the iPhone 11 or iPhone XI.

iPhone 11 design

iPhone 11 will receive a design almost completely identical to the iPhone X. The smartphone will have an elongated glass body with slightly rounded corners and a full-length display with minimal frames. The connecting frame between the glass panels will be made of surgical stainless steel, like in the iPhone X.

The most noticeable design differences between the iPhone 11 and the iPhone X should be on the front surface. Apple plans to further reduce the bezels around the perimeter of the display, making them record narrow. This will affect both the appearance of the device and the display resolution.

There are no surprises expected on the back of the iPhone 11. It will house a double vertically oriented camera protruding from the body. The LED flash is located between the lenses.

Apple will refresh the design of the iPhone 11 with new body colors. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 11 will be released in three colors: black, white and gold. At the same time, the gold color will differ from the traditional gold color of Apple devices. Kuo claims that the gold color will be "completely new."

There is also a high probability that the iPhone 11 will come in several bright colors. This was indicated not only by the analyst’s message, but also by Apple’s registration of a large number of new iPhone models in the Unified Register of Notifications of the Eurasian Economic Union. Apple added as many as 11 new smartphones to the registry database, and did so two months before the presentation.

The dimensions of the iPhone 11 should remain unchanged compared to the iPhone X and be 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7 mm.

iPhone 11 display

iPhone 11 will receive a full-format 5.8-inch OLED display, all leading analysts and insiders are confident of this. The exact specifications of the iPhone 11 display were announced by Ming-Chi Kuo in the spring of 2018. The specialist said that the iPhone 11 display will have a resolution of 1125x2436 pixels with a pixel density of 458 ppi.

However, we note that according to many subsequent rumors, Apple will reduce the display frames of the smartphone. Because of this, compared to the 5.8-inch iPhone X, both the resolution and aspect ratio of the display may change in the new product.

Samsung will produce OLED displays for iPhone 11. This became known from trusted sources of The Korea Herald resource. It is noteworthy that the iPhone 11 will be the only Apple smartphone in 2018, the displays for which will be supplied exclusively by the Korean company. For the other two new smartphones, iPhone 9 and iPhone 11 Plus, some of the displays will be produced by LG Display. Apple management has long been trying to reduce the company's dependence on Samsung, and in 2018 another big step will be taken in this direction.

Characteristics of the new iPhone 11

The iPhone 11 will be based on the Apple A12 processor. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will produce chips for the iPhone 11. The key feature of the A12 processor will be the advanced technological process by which the chip will be created.

At the beginning of 2018, it became officially known that the A12 processor will be made using 7-nanometer FinFET technology. For comparison, the A11 Bionic chip, which is used in the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X, is made using a 10nm process technology.

The difference between the technological processes is impressive. According to the official description of the 7-nm process technology from TSMC, processors made using it provide a performance increase of up to 20%. At the same time, they are 40% more energy efficient.

Thus, the new iPhone 2018 will be 20% faster than the iPhone X. The energy consumption of the chip will be significantly reduced, due to which the battery life of the smartphone will increase.

In June, a leak appeared from the official website of the Geekbench benchmark, demonstrating the testing results of the new iPhone 11. The iPhone 11's performance advantage over the iPhone X was 10%. iPhone 11 with A12 processor scored 4206 points in single-core mode and 10128 points in multi-core mode.

iPhone 11 will be faster than its predecessors thanks to the increased amount of RAM. At the end of January 2018, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the iPhone 11 will receive 4 GB of RAM. This will be a record for Apple smartphones, since previously the maximum amount of RAM on the iPhone was 3 GB. We emphasize that the increased amount of RAM in the iPhone 11 was confirmed by a leak from the Geekbench benchmark website.

As for the amount of built-in memory, there have been no reliable leaks about it. Apple may release the iPhone 11 in two versions: with 64 and 256 GB of memory, like its last year’s smartphones.

Camera Specifications

The main camera of the iPhone 11 is the most intriguing component about which the least information is known. We only know that it will retain its format. It will be double and vertically oriented. The camera will protrude from the body and have a sapphire coating. The resolution of the modules and their other characteristics remain secret. According to speculation, Apple will greatly improve the camera in the iPhone 11, as its main competitors Huawei and Samsung have equipped their flagships with advanced cameras.

iPhone 9, X Plus and XI: price and release date

iPhone 9 and/or 11 will be presented to the world in September or October 2018. The announcement of the iPhone X Plus is also likely. The cost will not differ from the price of existing flagships at the time of their announcement. The price of a smartphone in Russia will most likely be inflated, as in many other countries of the world, because Apple is primarily offering it for the domestic American market.

The iPhone 11 presentation date is the first half of September 2018. Experts are confident that Apple will not break tradition and will introduce new iPhone models during its usual period. Analysts support their forecasts with the dates of the latest iPhone presentations:

  • 2017 (iPhone 8/8 Plus/X) - September 12.
  • 2016 (iPhone 7/7 Plus) - September 7.
  • 2015 (iPhone 6s/6s Plus) - September 9.
  • 2014 (iPhone 6/6 Plus) - September 9.
  • 2013 (iPhone 5s/5c) - September 10.
  • 2012 (iPhone 5) - September 12.

There is also a more accurate forecast for the date of Apple's September event. The probable presentation date of the iPhone 11 is September 12, 2018. Apple usually holds presentations of new iPhones on Tuesday or Wednesday. September 12 is just a Wednesday, and September 11 is a tragic day for the United States, on which Apple has never held any events.

iPhone 11 release date (2018)

Sales of the iPhone 11 will begin approximately 10 days after the presentation. Most often, Apple launches sales of new iPhones on Fridays. Thus, if the presentation of the iPhone 11 takes place on September 12, then the smartphone will be launched on sale on September 21.

iPhone 11 price (2018)

Over the past few months, there have been many different rumors about the price of the iPhone 11, but in the end, analysts agreed that the smartphone will be $100-200 cheaper than the iPhone X. Apple will reduce the price of the flagship due to its dissatisfaction with sales of the iPhone X. The “Ten” was actively sold and even set several records, but Apple executives and shareholders expected better results.

If the forecasts turn out to be correct, the prices for the iPhone 11 will be as follows:

  • iPhone 11 64 GB - $799 (63,990 rubles).
  • iPhone 11 256 GB - $899 (71,990 rubles).
