Set-top box perfeo pf 120 dvb t2 instructions. Correct connection and configuration of the DVB-T2 set-top box. As a conclusion

Modern world It is no longer possible to imagine without digital TV. This signal transmission has been used for quite some time to broadcast television and radio channels in many countries in Europe, America and Asia. In Russia, the process of transition from analogue to digital TV has been delayed.

The digital signal arriving through the receiver antenna allows you to watch more TV channels throughout the country without loss of quality or interference. The signal itself can be sent either to an antenna, which is attached to a set-top box, or directly to the TV. It all depends on how modern model of this device you have.

With devices that support DVB-T2, everything is simple. In order to connect to digital TV, just insert the cable into the appropriate connector and perform a simple channel setup. If your TV is outdated and does not support receiving this type of signal, then in order to view digital channels you should purchase a special attachment. It is inexpensive, but some people may have problems connecting and setting it up, so today we will talk about how to do this.

What is needed for this

To connect digital TV you will need:

  • TV;
  • Set-top box (receiver);
  • Antenna.

Your TV should have an input into which you can insert an antenna, a tulip-type connector, and an input with video output (scart). If you have an HDMI input along with the scart connector, then don’t worry. It is also suitable for connecting a receiver. It's just that your model is newer.

Before buying a receiver, you should figure out which one is better and find out what parameters you should pay attention to in order to choose the most optimal model. If you don’t understand much about technology, and don’t want to spend your free time studying all these nuances, then you can contact a company that provides television broadcasting services in your city and get advice from their specialists. In addition, you can take advantage of promotional offers from the service provider. Often, if you connect to their services, you can receive a receiver as a gift.

A receiver is essentially an adapter that allows you to receive and transmit a signal to your device. He can receive it through the following sources:

  • Satellite dish;
  • Antenna;
  • Through the Internet;
  • Using other sources.

Connecting a digital set-top box

The receiver can be connected either to the TV directly or via a DVD or monitor, but for the latter two options you will most likely need to purchase a special adapter.

To connect the receiver directly, you should follow these steps:

  1. Take the TV box out of the box and remove the protective film from it. It is necessary to remove the film. Otherwise, the receiver may overheat and break.
  2. Take the TV cable and cut off the protective sheath, thus exposing 1-15 millimeters of the cable on both sides. The sheath should be stripped very carefully so as not to damage the shielding film, which is designed to protect the center conductor.
  3. Carefully peel back the shiny protective film and screw the f-connectors to the wires.
  4. Connect the TV to the set-top box using a cable.
  5. Insert the wires into the tulip-type connectors on the TV and set-top box.
  6. Connect the antenna to the TV. The antenna itself should be installed on the external wall of the house or on your balcony, if it is not glazed. At the same time, make sure that it is not touched by tree branches or power cables.

This completes the process of connecting the TV set-top box. Next, to watch the TV channels available in your region, you should configure it.

In our country, many people still use televisions that were produced back in the Soviet years or in the early 90s. Connecting a receiver to such devices is not so easy - they do not have tulip-type connectors. Additionally, some models have scart outputs, but these only accept component signals.

These problems can be solved in two ways:

  • Find a circuit for an adapter from the A/V input to scart and solder it yourself;
  • Purchase a special adapter from the store to which you can attach an RCA cable from the set-top box or an adapter cable.

There are even more ancient models of TVs of the “Electron” type that do not provide any inputs at all, except for an antenna connector. Through this connector, a modulated high-frequency signal enters the TV, so in order to watch digital TV on a device of this type, you will need to additionally purchase a modulator that will be equipped with RCA connectors.

Receiver setup

In order to set up digital channels on your TV, after connecting the set-top box to it, you will need to perform the following steps:

  1. On the remote remote control press the "Menu" button.
  2. In the window that opens, go to the settings menu.
  3. You need to select Russia as the country if it is not the default.
  4. Now you need to select the signal standard. By default, DTV-T/DTV-T2 is installed, that is, analog and digital TV, respectively. If you leave it this way, the TV will search for both channels.
  5. You will be prompted to perform automatic or manual setting. Select Automatic and press the “OK” button on the remote control.
  6. Now you need to wait a while until all available free and pay TV channels are detected. When you complete your search, click “Save.”

This is one of the most simple ways set up digital TV at home. If the TV finds few channels or does not find them at all, then you should use manual tuning.

To do this, you need to delete all the channels that were found for this. After the channels have been deleted, you should repeat the same steps as for automatic search, but instead of auto-tuning, select manual search. A window will appear in front of you in which you should set the frequency on which digital channels are broadcast in your city. You can find out this frequency on the Internet or by contacting your service provider. You may also need to change the search range for the search to begin.

After the TV channels of the first multiplex have been found, you will need to find out the frequency for the second multiplex in your city and start the manual search again. Thanks to this, you will be able to watch more channels.

Checking the signal quality

To make sure that you did everything correctly and everything is working well, you should check the quality of signal reception. This is not difficult to do. The receiver must have a button called INFO. By clicking on it three times, a window will appear on the screen with information about signal quality, channel number, frequency and encoding. If the two existing indicators are above 60%, then everything is fine and the signal level is quite acceptable.

Perhaps in your model of TV set-top box this button will be called something else. To find out what this button is called for you, look at the instructions and read the purpose of the buttons.

If your TV receives several multiplexes, be sure to check the signal quality on each of them. This is due to the fact that each of them is transmitted and received using different transmitters, so it is quite possible that the signal will be good in one multiplex, but not in the second.

Note.

Allowing you to watch digital television. Digital TV has many more advantages than regular TV, which is why many people are switching to it. And, of course, you need to start by choosing a receiver. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the manufacturer’s brand, functionality, quality and, of course, price. Finally, once you have purchased a digital receiver, you need to prepare it for use. But how to do that? In this article you will learn how to connect and configure DVB-T2 digital television. Let's understand the issue together.

If you want to know how to set up a TV set-top box, then this article is for you

The first step is to connect all the elements together. There is nothing difficult about this, see for yourself. Connect the antenna to the receiver, and the receiver itself to the TV. That's it - ready! It is recommended to connect the set-top box via an HDMI cable, of course, provided that the devices have the appropriate inputs and connectors. If HDMI is not supported, connect via regular tulips. Any model of the console comes with instructions that clearly show what needs to be connected to what.

Separately, it is worth noting the functionality of the “RF IN” and “Rf LOOP” connectors. The “RF IN” connector connects the cable coming from TV antenna, and “Rf LOOP” is the output of the signal received via the “RF IN” connector for its further transmission to other devices, that is, it can be called a replacement for “tees”.

Let's start connecting the device

Please note that the setup process is the same for all models of digital receivers, so it does not matter what brand of set-top box you have. Of course, the design of windows and some names of menu sections may differ slightly, but the general essence does not change.

First, choose a connection method

After connecting the device, turn on the TV and set-top box. On the TV you need to select video input to go to the receiver menu. If everything was done correctly, then on the screen you will see a welcome window in which you will need to select the language, region, mode and image format, as well as the search mode. Set the necessary parameters using the set-top box remote control. You don't have to change the settings and leave them as default. Click "OK" to move to the next window.

The first dialog box on the screen

If in the “Search mode” section there is “DVB-T + DVB-T2”, then the receiver will immediately find all the channels available for your region on its own. But this method will only work if you already have a working antenna pointed in the desired direction. Once the auto search is complete, you can close the menu and enjoy watching. Other users need to perform antenna positioning. There is nothing complicated about this, all you need is to make a few settings in the receiver menu.

List available channels loaded manually or automatically

If you didn’t have an antenna before and it only appeared now, together with the DVB-T2 set-top box, while in the welcome window, press the button to call up the menu on your remote control. Go to the “DVBT Setup” section and select “Channel Search”. In the window that opens, set “Search Mode”. Here you can set both “by channel” and “by frequency”. There is no big difference here - choose what you like best. Next, set the search band to “UHF”.

To simplify the channel search process, go to a special website with information on frequency channels for your specific city. In principle, it is not necessary to do this; you can do without it, but this approach will make the setup process easier and faster. Select the desired value in the “Frequency channel” item. If the direction was chosen correctly, then after a couple of seconds you will see the “Signal Intensity” and “Signal Quality” scales filled in at the bottom of the window. If the scale level is good, then click “Search”. After this, the receiver will perform tuning in the specified frequency channel.

If you do not know the desired direction of the antenna, take it and rotate it smoothly, watching the intensity and quality scales. Once they are filled to an acceptable level, attach the antenna and search. Once the process of setting up TV channels is completed, you can exit the menu and start watching.

Most models provide the ability to simultaneously connect via both tulip connectors and HDMI

If you are simultaneously connected via both tulips and HDMI, you can switch from one cable to the other while watching. It is better to watch via HDMI, since in this case the image quality will be much higher.

Now you can easily perform DVB-T2 yourself. As you can see, understanding this issue is not difficult. Write in the comments whether this article helped you and ask questions if some points remain unclear.

A short review of a miniature device for watching television in the digital DVB-T2 format.

We already have televisions and a digital TV tuner at home, but we came across the Perfeo PF-T2-1 receiver in the store at a very attractive price, only 600 rubles! Double intrigue - miniature size and price played a decisive role in the choice of this device.
In principle, modern receivers (aka tuners) differ little in functionality. Standard outputs are tulips and HDMI. Scheduled recording, Timeshift, on this moment 2 working multiplexes (20 TV channels and 3 radio).
The main differences between the devices of this rapidly growing army are the dimensions, convenience of the remote control buttons and navigation
according to the menu, as well as the speed of channel switching. Latest models increasingly support the AC3 codec, which is necessary for playing sound in films downloaded from the Internet. However, all the tuners that I came across had raw software without the ability to update the firmware. In other words, to a greater or lesser extent, every tuner and TV has glitches, functions that do not work or do not work correctly.

Distinctive features of the Perfeo PF-T2-1 receiver

As already mentioned, the functionality Perfeo PF-T2-1 standard. Basic
The features lie in the connectors and connected wires:

  • The wire with “tulips” is connected to the device using the plug included in the kit.
  • The infrared receiver for working with the remote control is not built into the case, but is connected separately.
  • The receiver is powered externally, and a five-volt adapter is not included.
  • To connect a flash drive, you will also have to buy an adapter.

It is important to note that the so-called “OTG connector” has a non-standard format. Why this was done - only God knows. Look at the photo above. See the left connector labeled “USB”? Here you need to somehow connect a flash drive to it. You won’t be able to plug in any flash drive or fashionably called “OTG adapter” there. With the same success, Perfeo engineers could have soldered some RS-232 or LPT connector, which could not be implemented during the period of demand for them. The only way out is to buy separate connectors and solder the adapter yourself.

The power socket is round; if you do not plan to connect a flash drive, a 5 Volt 1 Ampere power supply will do. If you want to connect a flash drive, then you need a 5 Volt 2 Ampere unit. You can use a mobile phone charger; fortunately, an adapter for connecting to a charger is included.

The external sensor of the IR remote control is attached with double-sided Velcro to a place convenient for you. There is also a red-blue indicator inside it that displays the operating mode of the receiver.

And now, all the wires are connected, the remote control is charged with batteries. Turn on auto channel search! Caught the first channel... We are waiting... Nothing changes on the screen for a long time, and there is no reaction to the remote control either.
Blue screen - that's how our test ended receiver Perfeo PF-T2. Neither turning it on again nor dancing with a tambourine could bring it back to life. Out of curiosity, I took it apart to see what happened there???

I think there’s nothing more to write about here - Perfeo exceeded all expectations!

As a conclusion

….. If the old basin were stronger, my story would be longer. (c)

Seriously, if you buy a 2-amp power supply and a clever “OTG” cable for a flash drive, there will be no gain in price, but how long will the receiver itself last?

How to connect Perfeo PF-T2-1?

After writing the article, I was asked to explain how this receiver is connected. Indeed, the instructions for the device are quite sparse; I couldn’t find a connection diagram for the Perfeo PF-T2-1 on the Internet, but I’ve already returned my copy. But I found a video (it’s at the end of the article) where they show not ours, but a very similar model.

Video notes:

1) At the beginning of the video, the USB connector (a flat one, if anyone doesn’t know) is plugged into the TV. I don't recommend doing this. More precisely, you can check the performance in this way at the very beginning. Then I advise you to buy Charger. It looks something like this, color and shape don’t matter, the main thing is that there is a rectangular connector like in the photo, and the current is 1.5 or 2 amperes. In extreme cases, 1 ampere is possible.

2) Connect “Tulips” (three multi-colored connectors) to the TV input. But older TVs may not have a red connector, then connect only white and yellow. If the TV has more than three tulip sockets, plug into those with the inscription “INPUT” or “IN”.

3) The infrared receiver (time in video 1:45) of Perfeo PF-T2-1 has a completely different connector - round and thin. It connects to the “IR IN” socket. Be sure to insert it all the way, you may have to press harder. If you don’t insert it all the way, nothing will work!
The infrared receiver should be turned with the dark red side towards us, and there is no need to tuck it behind the TV. Any objects on the way to the remote control will interfere with switching and setting channels.

After turning on the TV and receiver, press the “menu” button on the remote control and select channel settings on the screen, usually this item is called “ Automatic search programs."

Not Perfeo PF-T2-1 in the video, but everything is connected in the same way.

To take advantage of digital sound and picture quality in both city and countryside, you don't need to buy new TV- all DVB-T2 set-top boxes Perfeo You can even connect to the “old” analog one! All models are equipped USB port, can work as a media player and record on-air TV programs in digital quality to external media (PVR function), and also support “delayed viewing” mode (TimeShift function) - now you can simply press the “Pause” button and then continue watching the TV show from the same place.

In models PF-168-1 And PF-168-3 there is a built-in media player with support for all popular video formats, as well as codec AC3 when playing media files with Dolby Digital sound. Both models are available in two versions: with an internal or external power supply.

Series with similar capabilities compact DVB-T2 set-top boxes Perfeo consists of models PF-120-1, PF-120-2(both on Novatek 78336 processor) and PF-120-3(on MStar 7T01 processor), equipped with external power supplies. At very attractive prices, compact set-top boxes do not support the AC3 codec, which will not interfere with enjoying your favorite TV series with soundtrack in MP3 format. Two models - PF-120-1 and PF-120-3 - provide holes for wall mounting.

Ultra-compact consoles PF-T2-1 And PF-T2-2 They use the MStar 7T01 processor and are not inferior in functionality to their larger brothers. The PF-T2-2 version is powered by a USB connector (if your TV does not have one, you can use an optional USB adapter), and the overall dimensions of the PF-T2-1 are only 83 x 46 x 18 mm, which allows you to hide this set-top box behind the TV body, installed on a wall mount.
