The well-promoted Wileyfox brand, which is a derivative of the Fly company, presented its first device back in 2015 as a budget smartphone with the characteristics of a gadget in the upper price range. The new product combines support for 4G networks, 2 GB of RAM, a quad-core processor from Qualcomm and 16 GB of permanent memory, which at the end of 2015 was a breakthrough in the category of phones priced under $100.

The device is equipped with Cyanogen OS with further support. However, if the built-in Wileyfox Swift firmware does not suit you or the device is not automatically updated due to root access, you should install the software yourself.

Smartphone firmware procedure

First of all, make sure that valuable data is transferred from the smartphone, since during the installation process all files in the device’s memory will be destroyed.

Step #1

After downloading and installing the necessary drivers on your computer with the ADB (Android Debug Bridge) application, run "Debug mode" on Wileyfox Swift, then enable bootloader unlocking (item "For Developers"). Also go to Settings->About phone and quickly tap on the build number seven times until the message “Developer settings enabled” appears.

Next, connect your smartphone to the computer, launch the command line on the PC (you can find it in the search among applications for the request "cmd"). In the window that opens, enter « CD c:\adb» (if the ADB program was installed in the root of drive C). By entering the command « adb reboot bootloader» you will enter the phone into Fastboot mode.

Step #2

To install a custom Recovery, launch the “Bootlader” mode, and transfer the image inside the folder containing Fastboot "recoveryS7EB.img".

Install Recovery using the following commands:

• fastboot -i 0x2970 oem unlock-go
  
• fastboot -i 0x2970 erase recovery
• fastboot -i 0x2970 flash recovery recoveryS7EB.img

After installation is complete, disconnect your smartphone and remove and reinsert the battery. Then hold down the “Volume -” button and the Power key to switch to “Recovery” mode.

Step #3

After downloading the firmware you like (for example, the latest official CyanogenOS update), connect the PC to the smartphone again, transfer the downloaded data to the root of the MicroSD card. Reboot Swift by holding Volume Down and Power key.

In the menu that opens, select “Backup & Restore” to create a backup. Further navigation is carried out using the volume control buttons (move down and up) and the power button (select an item).

Follow the following menu items:

1. "Wipe data / Factory reset".
2. "Apply update".
3. "Choose ZIP from SD Card."
4. Specify the path to the firmware file in “.zip” format.
5. Select the GAPPS file.

Once a notification appears indicating that Wileyfox Swift firmware is complete, restart your device.
