Fantastic light photo manipulation. Fantastic light photo manipulation Texture dust on metal

Another portion of grunge textures. This time these are textures depicting scratches, strokes, noise, stains and other dust. It is good to use such textures as auxiliary materials for aging the main surface. It is enough to put such a texture on top with an overlap, adjust the transparency of the layer, and the original image acquires a unique grunge flavor, which very advantageously enlivens the design. The scratches below are mainly of wall origin, there are also scratches on paper and scratches on metal surfaces.

To download the texture you like, click on the corresponding picture. A page will open in a new window with several sizes available for download. To do this, click on the Actions button, then select View all sizes from the drop-down menu, select the desired texture size and save the image to your computer. We also pay attention to the license type next to the picture.

Step 1.
Let's start by creating a new document in Photoshop. Go to File – New. Set the document width to 600 px and height to 900 px. Click OK.

Select the Bucket Tool (G) and fill the background layer with #2b2b32.

Step 2.
Download the library photo and place it on our canvas. This is where we will begin creating photo manipulation. Name the layer “Library”. Press Ctrl+T to activate the Free Transform Tool and resize the image. While doing this, hold down the Shift key to maintain proportions. After setting the size, press Enter to save the result.

Step 3.
Add a new Hue/Saturation adjustment layer on top of all layers. Set the Saturation value to -40. In order for the adjustment layer to affect only the “Library” layer, you need to create a clipping mask. This can be done using the button in the layers panel, it is shown in the screenshot below:

Here's what our layers palette now looks like:

Step 4.
In the next steps we will add a photo of the model to the lower left corner of the image. So it's okay if we don't fill the empty space in this image. But the right corner must be closed. Select the “Library” layer. Activate the Lasso Tool (L), select the floor (as shown below).

Press Ctrl+J to copy the selection. Place created new layer on top of all the others, name it “Gender”. Activate the Move Tool (V) and move the floor as shown below.

Step 5.
We need to reduce the saturation for the “Floor” layer. Create a new Hue/Saturation adjustment layer with a clipping mask. Lower the Saturation value to -40. After you complete this step, your image should look like this:

Step 6.
In order to give the image a mystical effect, you need to darken the image. Add a new Curves adjustment layer on top of all layers, and adjust the curve as shown below.

Step 7
Download the image of the model, you can find the link above. Place the model on our canvas on top of all other layers. Name this layer “Model”. Press Ctrl+T to activate the Free Transform tool. Resize the image, but do not forget to maintain the proportions of the image (hold Shift). Our result so far:

Step 8
You need to separate the model from the background. Add a mask for the “Model” layer. Select the Brush Tool (B). Reduce brush pressure by 50% and leave opacity at 100%. Select black color and start painting over the parts of the image that you want to hide. Your result should be similar to mine:

Step 9
Download the image of the skirt and place it on our canvas. Place the layer on top of the others and name it “Skirt”. Using Free Transform, change the position of the skirt, rotate it to get the following result:

Step 10
In this step we will create the hairstyle. Download hair image. Place hair on top of each other to create a voluminous hairstyle. Below you can see the step by step result:

Step 11
Now you need to paint over all the parts that separate the model's hairstyle. Move from layer to layer, add masks to them and paint over with a black brush the places you want to hide. Use the same brush settings as above: Pressure 50%, Opacity 100%. Check out my result below:

Step 12
Now we need to work on the model's dress, but this will be a rather complicated process. Here is a transparent fabric on dark background, and simply changing the blending modes will give us an unrealistic result. We need to come up with a slightly different technique. First, remove the visibility of all layers related to the model. You should only see the library.

Press Ctrl+A to select the entire image. Then press Ctrl+Shift+C, this will merge and copy all the layers. Then paste them by pressing ctrl+V. Place this layer on top of all the others and name it “Dress Retouch”. Add a mask for this layer, fill it completely with black. Activate the Brush Tool. Set the Hardness to 0% and the Opacity to 10%. Select a white color and carefully paint with a set brush over the translucent parts of the dress. Check out my results. Places that need to be painted are highlighted in red.

Now you need to mix the layers. Change the brush size for a more realistic result. After this step, your image should look something like this:

Step 13
In this step we will add some fog behind the model to create a magical atmosphere. Download the fog brushes that are given at the beginning of the lesson. Install them in Photoshop. Create a new layer below the model layer. Select the Brush Tool, then select one of the brushes you just installed. Reduce the Opacity to 30% and set the brush color to a light yellow (eg #e4e1c9). Add some fog. Below is my result:

Step 14
Add a new adjustment layer Curves under the model layer. Set up the curve as follows:

Select a soft round brush and lower its opacity to 80%. Set the brush color to white and paint two large dots on the adjustment layer mask. Below you can see my result:

Step 15
Add a new Gradient Map adjustment layer on top of all other layers. Set up the gradient as shown below:

Change the layer's blending mode to Color and lower the opacity to 20%.

Step 16
Now let's work with the plasticity of the image. This means that we must make the light lighter and the shadows darker. Add a new layer on top of the others, name it “Liquidity”. Change the layer blending mode to Soft Light.

Activate the Brush Tool and select a soft round brush of black color. Lower the brush opacity to 10%. Draw it over the shadows in the image to make them darker. After you're done with the shadows, work on the highlights as well, changing the brush color to white. Below you can see which places you need to work with (red shows shadows, blue shows highlights).

Below you can see photos before and after this step:

Step 17
To make the photo manipulation more interesting, let's add some light. Create a new layer on top of all the others, name it “LIGHT”. See how the layers panel should look at this step:

Change the foundation blending mode to Color Dodge. Select a soft round brush and reduce its opacity to 10%. Choose orange color (I used #b68854). Use this brush to paint around the model's hair, face and dress. Below you can see where you need to work with a brush:

Step 18
For higher image contrast, you need to create a play of light and shadow. Create a new layer on top of the others, name it RETOUCH. Change the Blend Mode to Soft Light. Activate the brush tool, use the same settings as in the previous step, just select black color. Draw in the places shown in red:

After that, select a white brush color, and paint over the model's hair:

Here is our BEFORE and AFTER result:

Step 19
In this step we will add even more light. Download the “Sun Rays” Brushes and install them in Photoshop. Add a new layer on top of the others, call it “Sun Rays”. Change the blending mode to Color Dodge. Select a brush sun rays, lower the opacity to 25%, set the color to #b9a587. Add rays to our image like this:

To prevent the rays from being visible on the model's hair and face, add a mask to the rays layer and use a black brush to erase the unnecessary parts of the light. Here is our result:

Step 20.
To make the model's hair more realistic, we need to add some light on the left side. Create a new layer on top of the others and name it “Hair Light”. Change the blending mode to Color Dodge. Select a soft round brush, lower its opacity to 20%, and choose a light orange color. Paint with this brush on the left side of the face and hair:

Step 21
In this step we will add more details to the image using textures. Download the dust texture, place it on our canvas (the layer with the texture should be above all layers). Activate the Free Transform Tool (Ctrl+T). Rotate the image as shown below. Duplicate the texture image. Place the second one as shown in the image:

Change the layer's blending mode to Screen. Lower the opacity of the left texture to 40% and the right one to 20%. Add masks to both layers and work with them to erase the unwanted parts. This is what we get as a result:

Step 22
In this step, add a light texture to our canvas. Change the layer blending mode to Subtract and lower the opacity to 15%. Duplicate the texture layer. Change the blending mode of the duplicated layer to Lighten and reduce the opacity to 5%.

Ready! Here is the result of our work:

Peculiarities

1. Download and unpack the archive with textures. Open in Photoshop image to which we want to add texture. By simply dragging the texture from the folder into the Photoshop window, we overlay the texture on top of the image (a new layer is automatically created).

2. Stretch the texture.

3. There can be several textures, depending on the size of the image and the desired result.

4. Turn off the visibility of the background (bottom) layer.

5. Unite visible layers- a group of overlaid textures, with the exception of background image whose visibility is disabled in the previous step.

6. Change the blending parameters of the resulting texture layer to “Lighten”.

7. Adjust the "Levels" of this layer (located in the "Image-Correction-Levels..." tab).

8. Change the transparency and fill parameters...

9. If there is too much noise or it is superimposed where it is not necessary, simply wipe it off with an eraser.

In reality, the whole process will not take more than a couple of minutes...
