D link dir 320 Beeline firmware. Setting the IP address automatically on Windows XP

These instructions are written based on my own research on the topic of setting up a router and are intended for those who want to connect to “ Home Internet Beeline» in Cherepovets, Vologda region using a router D-Link DIR-320NRU, but may be useful for clients of other operators and other cities of the Russian Federation.

On the site Beeline Instructions for setting up routers are available:

The last link describes the process of setting up the router D-Link DIR-320, but it is radically different from D-Link DIR-320NRU on hardware, firmware program and, accordingly, the appearance of the web interface.

GO!

Features of using the connection " Home Internet Beeline" V Cherepovets:

1. Availability of a local city network. A port is supplied to the “end” of the apartment 100Mbit with an individual fixed IP address.

2. To gain access to Internet each client installs VPN connection with the provider's server by specifying your personal login and password in the connection settings.

We will “dance with a tambourine” in exactly this sequence.

Setting up an access interface to the city network of Cherepovets ***

For example, let's take typical settings for a city network Cherepovets (The example is completely stupid, coincidences are random), which are usually specified in the protocol properties TCP/IP computer network card:

IP address: 10.25.100.100
Network mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway IP address: 10.25.100.254

We will enter these settings into the settings WAN-interface in the section NET subsection CONNECTIONS web interface. Don’t be surprised, the picture below reflects all the configured network interfaces necessary to support our task.

  • Interface l2tp_eth2.5_0 There is no router in the default factory settings; I will consider its necessity a little later.
  • Interface LAN- these are exactly the same physical 4 ports ( 1,2,3,4 on the back panel of the router) built-in switch for connecting network devices on your home local network. We won't go there, because... everything is fine there...
  • Interface WAN- also physical ( INTERNET on the back panel of the router) and a network cable from the provider is connected to it. In the settings of this particular interface we will register the settings indicated above by double-clicking on the line WAN.

After changes in the settings, you must press the SAVE button not only in this menu, but also in the previous one, to which you “fly” back when saving!!! Be careful, saving takes place in two stages!!!

There is no need to look for what to include in the route for packets - this data is provided by the provider! For our case it is:

Subnet IP address: 10.0.0.0
Subnet mask: 255.0.0.0
Gateway IP address: 10.25.100.254
Metrics: 1

As a result, the settings line should look like this

The final touch remains - to register the addresses of the provider's DNS servers (name servers), which the provider must also provide. We have this:

DNS1: 195.190.106.59
DNS2: 195.190.106.60

We enter these numbers in the section ADDITIONALLY subsection NAME SERVERS and don’t forget to “save”...

Access to the city network is configured, now you can ping something from your computer, for example the provider’s gateway ( ping 10.25.100.254 ) or FTP your friend... :)

Setting up access to the INTERNET

You won’t be satisfied with just the city grid, and if you get into it, then you have the opportunity to get into Internet. We take out the contract and look for the login there ( in the example it is 0899999999 ) and password ( **************** ) issued to you by your provider ( access server name in Cherepovets: tp.internet.beeline.ru ).

Let's go back to the settings section NET subsection CONNECTIONS And ( if there's only LAN And WAN ) press the button ADD. Example of working interface settings L2TP in the picture below.

We save and we have the same interface l2tp_eth2.5_0, mentioned above. It is through him that we will get to Internet.

Don't forget to rearrange DEFAULT GATEWAY exactly to this interface ( L2TP ), otherwise in Internet you won’t get there... In some cases, in order for the router to start normally, you may need to reboot it...

1. Today it turned out that the router settings described above make sense only for “old-timers” of the city network.

f@tm@n * BeelineIt hasn’t provided static IP for a long time, and you can’t get the gateway address from them; you have to plug the cable directly into the computer to find it out. The instructions are relevant only for old users who were still connected to SSI/Golden, and then smoothly migrated to new tariffs due to mergers and acquisitions, without reconnecting.

Actually, this only simplifies setting up access to the city network in the first part of the article and, I assume, you only need to check the box next to OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY and no need to enter manually IP-addresses DNS-servers, because We will also receive them automatically (check the box).

Setting up the D-Link DIR-320 Beeline router

Routers manufactured by D-Link are widely used in creating wireless networks. One of the most popular D-Link routers is the DIR-320 model. Let's look at how the D-Link DIR-320 router is configured using the Beeline Internet provider as an example. Setting up the dir 320 Beeline router - so let's get started.

Setting up a network card for the D-Link DIR-320 router

Before you start connecting the router, you need to configure the network card on your computer or laptop. This applies to any router model, including the D-Link DIR-320. This router supports automatic IP address distribution, so you need to set similar settings in the network driver.

So, turn on the computer or laptop on which you plan to configure the router. If the Windows XP operating system is installed on your computer, go to the “Start” menu, then to the “Control Panel”. Then click the “Network Connections” icon and in the window that appears, find the “Local Area Connection” item.

Right-click on this icon and go to “Properties”. In the new window, select the “General” tab. In the list of components, find the item “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” and click the “Properties” button. Another window will open in which you need to set the dots opposite the items “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain a DNS server address automatically.” Save the changes by clicking the “OK” button.

If you are a user of the Windows 7 operating system, setting up an automatic IP address follows a different algorithm. Go to the Start menu and type the word “Network” in the search bar.

A list of results will appear in which you need to select the “View network connections” option. In the window that appears, find the “Local Area Connection” icon and double-click on it. Then click the “Properties” button.

In the list of components, select the item “Internet Protocol version 4” and double-click to configure it. In the new window, check the options “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain a DNS server address automatically.” Then click “OK” to complete the installation.

Solving problems when connecting the D-Link DIR-320 router

When setting up a network card, problems may arise that are best resolved at this stage. One such problem is setting the wrong IP address. Therefore, you must check in a timely manner whether you have received the correct address. So, go to the window for viewing network connections and select “Local Area Connection”. Double-click to open a new window.

If you have Windows XP installed on your computer or laptop, you will see a “More details” section at the top of the window. In the case of Windows 7, there is a “Details” button in the central part of the window. We choose our option and look for the field in which the IP address is indicated.

The correct IP address is "192.168.0.xxx". Instead of xxx, any number from 0 to 999 can be represented. If there are problems setting the IP address, it will be written in the format “169.xxx.xxx.xxx”.

There may be several reasons for this problem, but it can always be solved in one way - you need to set the correct IP addresses in the network card settings. We return to “Properties” of the “Local Area Connection” item. If you have Windows XP installed, select the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” option; if you have Windows 7, then “Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)”.

Then set the following settings: IP – 192.168.0.101, subnet mask – 255.255.255.0, default gateway – 192.168.0.1, DNS – 192.168.0.1. Click the “OK” button. After this, the router should connect to the network card of your computer or laptop without any problems.

Replacing the firmware of the D-Link DIR-320 router

For the wireless connection to work correctly, you must install the latest router firmware. If your device is not running the latest firmware, you will have to update it. However, the information presented below will not be superfluous in any case: over time, the firmware becomes outdated, and new versions are released that need to be installed on your device.

To update the firmware, you need to download the latest version from the official D-Link website. Please note that you need the firmware specifically for the DIR 320 model. Download the firmware and turn off the Internet to proceed to setting up the router.

First, go to the router configuration interface. We use the standard method, suitable for all models of routers: open any Internet browser and enter the IP address of the router in the address bar. By default it is set to 192.168.0.1. If this option does not work, look at the IP address on the sticker located on the back or bottom of the device.

After entering the IP address and pressing “Enter”, an authorization window will open in front of you. Here you need to enter your username and password in the appropriate fields. Depending on the firmware, the login and password may be different. So, for new firmware of the D-Link DIR-320 router, the “login/password” combination looks like “admin/admin”. For earlier versions, you need to use the “admin” login, and do not fill out the password field at all.

After authorization, you are taken to the main router configuration menu. Go to the “Maintenance” tab, then select “Firmware Update” in the left column. In the “Update Settings” section, specify the path to the firmware file. Click the “Browse” button and indicate the location of the file. Then click the “Apply” button and wait until the installation process is completed. This option is suitable for earlier versions of the D-Link DIR-320 firmware (the firmware interface is made in orange tones).

Firmware update dir320

Let's look at how the firmware versions that were released relatively recently are updated. Different firmware versions differ from each other in interface color. So, if your device has a firmware with a white background and a turquoise menu located on the left. That update occurs as follows. Select the “System” option from the menu, then click on the “Software Update” button. And then specify the path to the file by clicking on “Browse”. Select the new firmware file and install it.

If the interface of your personal account is made in white and blue colors, and large icons are located in the central part of the window, select the “Configure manually” option. Then open the "System" section and click "Software Update". Now we indicate the location of the new firmware version and install it.

And finally, if the firmware interface is dominated by black and gray tones, click on the “Advanced settings” option. Go to the “System” block, click the “Forward” button and select the “Software Update” item.

After you specify the location of the firmware file and click the "Update" button, you may feel like the system is frozen. Do not take any action for 5-7 minutes. If nothing changes, enter the IP address into your browser's address bar again and repeat the firmware update process from the beginning.

Having installed the current firmware version, you can proceed to the next step - setting up the Internet and Wi-Fi on the D-Link DIR-320 router.

Setting up the Internet on the D-Link DIR-320 router for Beeline

Let's look at how the Internet is configured on the D-Link DIR-320 router using the example of the popular Russian provider Beeline. To create a connection with the provider, go to the settings interface and select “Advanced settings”. Then, in the “Network” column, click on the “WAN” option. After that, click the “Add” button and make the following settings.

The Beeline provider uses an L2TP connection and dynamic IP. This is important to consider when setting up a connection. So, we go to “WAN” and in the window that opens, set the connection type to “L2TP + Dynamic IP”.

Then fill in the “Name” field: here you need to indicate the name under which your network will be displayed in search results. You can choose any name and write it in Latin letters. You also need to fill in the “Username” and “Password” fields.

There you need to enter the data received from the provider and specified in the Internet connection agreement. If the contract has not been saved, find out the data by calling technical support. Then enter the VPN server address: “tp.internet.beeline.ru”. Click on the “Save” button. If you see another “Save” button at the top of the window, click on that too. This completes the Internet setup for the D-Link DIR-320. If you have provided the correct information, the Internet from Beeline will work correctly.

Setting up wi-fi on the D-Link DIR-320 router for Beeline

Now let's look at how to set up a Wi-Fi network on the D-Link DIR-320 router. We return to the “Advanced Settings” menu and in the “Wi-Fi” section select “General Settings”. Fill in the “SSID” field - this is the network name that will be displayed in the list of wireless connections. You can enter any name you wish.
