How much does an exploit hit phone cost? Explay Hit review and tests. High-quality budget Android smartphone. Information about other important connection technologies supported by your device

At the beginning of this year, the budget smartphone Explay N1 was successfully tested in our Laboratory. Interest in affordable Android-based smartphones is high, and manufacturers are increasingly paying attention to this niche. Today, you no longer need a large budget to buy a phone that doesn’t cause bouts of irritation due to constant glitches and poor build quality. We have another new product from Explay with a big name coming up Explay Hit, this solution is positioned as a continuation of the N1 concept.

A pair of these smartphones can successfully compete with branded offers from mobile operators, such as, for example, Megafon Login 2 and Megafon Optima. At a modest price, they offer a worthy filling. But miracles don’t happen; buying such smartphones is always a compromise. Let's see what Explay Hit users have to put up with.

Availability Explay Hit

At the time of testing, the average cost of Explay Hit, according to the Yandex.Market service, is 2,690 rubles.

Equipment

The smartphone is delivered in traditional eco-friendly packaging with the silhouette of the smartphone and a set of technical specifications.

Despite the budget, the buyer receives a traditional set of components: headphones, a microUSB cable and a network adapter. The quality of the components is high.

Appearance

Explay Hit retains the general features of its predecessor: smooth lines, a combination of glossy and matte plastic. The emphasis is on simplicity and practicality.

The smartphone fits easily in your hand, you can comfortably operate it with the fingers of one hand, which is very rare in modern smartphones. Dimensions are 127.8x54.1x11.4 mm and weighs 123 grams.

The back cover is made of white matte plastic, fingerprints are not noticeable, the material is pleasant to the touch. The manufacturer's logo and the main camera's peephole with LED flash are located here.

The cover is removable, underneath it hides a removable battery, a slot for a microSD card and two slots for a SIM card. The lid is attached tightly, there is no creaking or play of parts.

Along the side edge there is plastic painted to look like metal. The same plastic is available at the bottom of the front side of the smartphone. There are two mechanical buttons on the right side: power and volume rocker. On top there is a micro USB connector for charging and an audio jack.

The front side is glossy, the main area is occupied by the display. There are three touch buttons at the bottom.

Screen

A 4-inch TFT TN display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels is installed. The quality is average and appropriate for this type of matrix. You shouldn't expect wide angles; distortion is noticeable when changing angles vertically. The maximum brightness is low; in direct sunlight, it is difficult to make out the image.

Filling

The heart is the MediaTek MT6572M processor, this is an overclocked version of a dual-core chip with Cortex-A7 cores, it operates at a frequency of 1000 MHz. The Mali 400M is responsible for the graphics. The combination does not set any records, but at the current resolution it allows for smooth operation of the interface and launch of applications, including popular games.

256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of data storage are installed. The memory can be expanded using a microSD memory card.

Antutu

Vellamo

3D Antutu

Battery

A battery with a capacity of 1500 mAh is responsible for autonomous operation. This capacity is sufficient for one day of comfortable work and up to two days with economical use. An energy-efficient processor and low screen resolution play a positive role.

Camera

The camera module has undergone changes; a 2 MP module with LED flash has been installed. The pictures, of course, have become better in quality, but they are far from ideal. Good shots can only be taken with sufficient lighting.

Software

The Google Android 4.2 operating system is installed with a minimum of intervention from the manufacturer. A traditional set of software with additional utilities is preinstalled. As is the case with the latest solutions from this manufacturer, the Google Play application store has been replaced by Yandex.Store.

Video review of Explay Hit

Explay Hit results

Explay Hit has become a successful continuation of the idea inherent in the N1 smartphone; this solution will be interesting for those who need a display with a larger diagonal. For a modest 2,500 rubles, the buyer receives: good build quality, nice appearance, a 2-core processor, long battery life, a clean system and a complete set. Conditional disadvantages include: small viewing angles, small amount of built-in memory.

Explay Hit receives the "Hit.." award.

The Explay brand provides users with a large selection of inexpensive tablets with the necessary set of functions for. HIT was no exception, but unlike younger Explay models, it has wider functionality, which will become clear after reviewing all its characteristics.

Inexpensive device with rich functionality

Let's find out what Explay HIT offers the user, what are its advantages and main characteristics.

Contents of delivery

Explay HIT comes with the usual configuration - charger, USB cable and accompanying documentation. In general, everything you need for comfortable use and no additional accessories - you can purchase them at your discretion.

Design

The external design of the Explay HIT is a matte black plastic body; the glossy screen shimmers beautifully in the light, but to some extent requires careful handling due to the fact that fingerprints easily remain on it. Overall, the model looks solid and dignified, will look good in any environment and will suit every user - there are no frills in the design that could be off-putting.

This decision is correct, because the main role is not played by the appearance, but by the compliance of the internal content with the user’s expectations.

Screen

The 7-inch screen is the golden mean between compactness and optimal parameters for convenient viewing of web pages and video files. On such a screen it is convenient to watch movies or edit documents; you will not have the need to stare and damage your eyesight. On the other hand, a larger screen requires a correspondingly sized tablet, and then it is no longer so convenient to carry with you in any bag or briefcase, so the decision to make a 7-inch screen can be considered very deliberate.

The screen resolution is not as high as it could be - only 1024x600, but, as you know, the higher it is, the more expensive the device becomes. However, this resolution will not be a hindrance - the picture on the tablet is bright and colorful, and the multi-touch function makes use even more convenient.

Performance

The MediaTek MT8312 1300 MHz processor with 2 cores will ensure fast operation of Explay HIT, allowing you to browse web pages, multimedia files and use applications without slowdowns. Naturally, such a frequency and power are not enough for large games with sophisticated graphics, but this model is not designed for such use. But simple games and work applications for documents will load without problems, in addition, the processor will not consume a lot of charge, thanks to which the device will be able to work offline for a long time.

The RAM has a capacity of 512 MB - not too much for a device of this type, but it is justified by the cost of the tablet and the fact that it plays the role of a pocket multimedia center with Internet access.

Multimedia capabilities

The screen diagonal, processor power and other parameters on Explay HIT are quite enough to fully enjoy watching movies and videos, listening to music and other tasks related to multimedia files. Naturally, the device has a headphone jack and an external speaker.

To store multimedia files and other documents and applications, 4 GB of internal memory is available, which can be expanded using a memory card up to 32 GB - this model copes well with displaying data of this volume. In addition, it is quite enough for an average tablet in terms of functionality; this is enough for applications, films, videos, music, books and photos, and other files.

Additionally, it is worth noting such an important feature of this tablet as support for SIM cards, which will allow you to use it as a mobile phone. Moreover, you can insert 2 SIM cards into the device at the same time, which will save you from the problem of when you need to call a subscriber who uses the services of another operator.

Battery and operating time

Battery capacity is an important parameter in any tablet review. The model comes with a 2800 mAh battery, which will provide at least 2 hours of battery life, as stated by the manufacturer. But in fact, it is difficult to determine the operating time of a tablet without recharging - it all depends on the specific user and the tasks he sets for the device.

It is clear that if you constantly play or watch movies, then the indicated 2 hours of work will be the maximum for the tablet. But if it is used more for surfing the Internet or reading or viewing photos, then this model will probably be able to function without recharging for much longer.

Camera

The tablet has two cameras - a 2 MP rear camera will allow you to take a large number of pictures in optimal lighting, the front one is designed to provide video communication of tolerable quality. By the way, in the reviews of many available models there is a trend - in most cases, manufacturers do not install a front camera with a resolution of more than 0.3 MP, since this significantly increases the cost of the device, and, apparently, this parameter is not so important in equipment of this type.

Operating system and programs

The Explay HIT tablet runs on the Google Android 4.2 operating system. The basic set has everything you need - a file manager, browser, search engine, programs for viewing files of different formats. From the Play Store you can download all other applications needed in your work, which are then conveniently placed in the menu in the form of a list. The advantage of this is that its content can be supplemented at your discretion with programs of any type, and most software creators release separate versions of their programs for Android users.

Competitors

The first competitor for this model that is worth paying attention to is the Ginzzu GT-7020. This tablet has almost the same parameters, but it is more powerful - it has a processor not with 2, but with as many as 4 cores, and has a built-in memory of 8 GB versus 4 GB in the HIT model. Plus, the camera in this model is equipped with a flash, which significantly expands the shooting capabilities, and it costs a little less.

In addition to it, when choosing a tablet from this price niche, you should pay attention to the Digma Optima 7.22 3G, which has almost the same functionality and, again, will cost a little less than the Explay brand model.

And the last analogue that I would like to offer in this review is the Irbis TX61 - its cost is almost the same as that of the Explay HIT, however, it is noticeably more compact due to the screen diagonal being smaller by an inch.

Advantages and disadvantages

Among the advantages of this model I would like to note the following:

  • Optimal dimensions and lightness of the device.
  • Good screen resolution.
  • Availability of 2 cameras.
  • Supports 3G, GPS and connection of 2 SIM cards.
  • Attractive price.

Among the shortcomings, the most significant are the screen resolution (which, however, does not greatly affect use) and the average-power processor (which is unlikely to cope with a large number of applications and tasks at the same time). I would also like the RAM to be a little larger, but this will have a significant impact.

Conclusion

In general, Explay HIT has quite good functionality and is perfect for everyday use. Convenient dimensions, support for SIM cards, the ability to significantly expand data storage using a memory card, availability of Wi-Fi and 3G - what else is needed for a device used to access the Internet and play multimedia files?

This model is suitable for the average user - a student, schoolchild or office worker, for those who are often on the road and want to have a pocket multimedia center with Internet access. On the tablet you can easily use a high-speed connection, play more or less simple games, and work with documents and materials. Plus, it has a simple and strict design, an attractive price that justifies the internal content.

Explay Hit testing

Considering the budget model, it is not surprising that Explay Hit dual-core platform is used MediaTek MT6572, operating at a clock frequency of 1 GHz and accompanied by only 256 MB of RAM. Of the internal memory of 512 MB, the user is left with only 120 MB, expandable with microSD memory cards up to 32 GB. The operating system controls all this Google Android 4.2.2.

Explay Hit Memory Status Explay Hit System Information

In the set of pre-installed software, oddly enough, there are almost no applications - they were replaced with a package of applications from GetTaxi And CandyApps.

Explay Hit Application Menu

Something useful to note is the over-the-air firmware update program - however, at the time of testing, no new versions were found.

Explay Hit Update Program

Also an interesting idea, in addition to the initial setup wizard, are short guides - one standard Android 4.2, and the second - specifically for this smartphone model. Both guides clearly show the initial steps to become familiar with the operating system and device capabilities.

One of the guides on Explay Hit

But with access to Google Play the user was offended by replacing it with an application store Yandex.Store- not only does it require a Yandex account, but synchronization with Google accounts is not included in the factory firmware.

Yandex.Store on Explay Hit

No, of course, you can create a new one or connect an existing Google account - but this is of little use, considering that the corresponding services and applications are missing, and system links are displayed on Yandex.Store. And the trouble began: not only did this store open only at the end of February 2013 and there are no very popular programs in the catalog yet, but what is available is a couple of months late in freshness. Take, for example, Antutu Benchmark: the presented version, number 4, insistently prompts you to update every time you start it. You can refuse, but even if you agree to go to Google Play, you will again find yourself in the same Yandex.Store.

Limited set of applications in Yandex.Store at the time of testing On Explay Hit, Antutu Benchmark application requires updates

A nostalgic idyll - I remember the times of Google Android 1.6, when there were “cat crying” applications in the official store, and almost all software had to be installed using APK packages. It’s just that it’s Android 4.2 and 2014, so leaving the user without alternatives is not very comme il faut. However, one can understand the aspirations of smartphone manufacturers: it is much easier to agree on compensation for installing partner software with a company that is actively working in the language region and is well known to users than with Google - which, apparently, does not require money for a license to install the OS, but also itself doesn’t really want to pay manufacturers. And not a penny is visible from software sales, while Yandex promises users a savings system - every purchase in the Yandex.Store store returns 10% of the money spent to a bonus account for future purchases. You can pay for applications by credit card, from a mobile account or through Yandex money.

Request to install a package on Explay Hit

Here's another interesting point: for Yandex.Store to work, you need to allow the installation of applications from unknown sources - a favorite loophole for viruses and Trojans for Android. However, Google has clipped the wings of the scammers: during installation, warnings are forced to appear with a complete list of permissions required by the program to access the functions of the operating system, and if you carefully read what the application will do, then problems are unlikely to overtake you. In addition, it is solemnly stated that all applications in the catalog are scanned by antivirus software. Another thing is that the installation process in this format looks strange - as if applications are installed not from a decent software store, but manually from the device’s memory.

But let’s finally move on from the specifics of Yandex.Store to software testing itself. It cannot be said that the result in the outdated Antutu Benchmark 4 is in any way surprising - there is no point in demanding special achievements from an ultra-budget model.

Explay Hit results in Antutu Benchmark

The standard browser by default leads to the Yandex home page, but no other changes in its operation are visible - our portal opened properly even in full mode (for a desktop PC) without loss of page content.

Considering his advanced age Angry Birds, the work of this simple two-dimensional game on Explay Hit not overshadowed by any difficulties.

Angry Birds on Explay Hit

The range of 3D games in Yandex.Store is small, so I had to choose a relatively new one Asphalt 8 Airborne 2013 release. First, the game asked to download more than 900 megabytes of data, which is basically impossible on this smartphone without a memory card and Wi-Fi, and then it simply “dropped” onto the desktop. Don't play. Next we moved on to Frontline Commando- this not the most recent example of game development “ate up” only 217 MB of memory, started up and generally behaved decently - it did not slow down, and it was comfortable to play.

Explay Hit equipped with Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 modules. The Wi-Fi speed, according to our measurements, was about 31 Mbit/s when copying to a smartphone and an average of 20 Mbit/s when transferring data from it.
